This is sonny: As you can see in this picture the yellow on his mask is way brighter than the yellow on the rest of his body and he has random patches of green on the cobalt part of his body as well. I got really confused because I have a Yellowface type 2 hen, here are some pictures: The yellow on her mask is the same shade as the yellow on her body and it also looks way different than Sonny's.. So would Sonny be a goldenface then or just a very bright YF2?

What a beautiful bird! ..and I agree with the others about Quarantine. It is very Important and as hard as it seems to not let your new bird with the others right away is very well worth it! I have two birds in quarantine right now and it is sooooo hard lol I just want to let them with the others already but I rather be 100% sure they are healthy and not carrying any diseases before I let them with my other birds that I love to death Oh and I'm with you.. I have to buy my budgies from petshops as well since there's no breeders or clubs here either ..and that's why I like to be extra careful about Quarantine. - Quarantine is free so why not? but anyways.. Your new bird is just gorgeous

Here are some pictures of my budgies.. They have started their April molt and they're already getting way brighter. It is so worth the extra cleaning of all those feathers!! Sky, Fiona, Snowflake and Sonny.. And these are my babies Louie and Jasper.. They haven't started molting yet but somehow they are also looking brighter, way more than when I got them

I'm not sure but he probably has since he is between 3-5 months old, he is going through a molt right now but I don't know if it's his first of not.. I don't know if this helps but his mask feathers are a brighter yellow than the yellow on his wings.. Here's a picture.. My brother says he looks like buttered popcorn lol ..in this picture his beak looks a little more orange than it really it is but all the other colors are pretty accurate. My first thought when I got him was that he is a YF2 cobalt dominant pied.

She is so beautiful! and I'm guesing she is a YF2 sky blue dominant pied? because if that is the case then Sonny (that's how I named him) would be a cobalt since his blue is darker.. I was having some trouble figuring out his blue shade since its very greenish.. thanks for showing your pictures

I'll try and take some pictures of Sonny.. He is a dominant pied and I'm not sure what shade of blue he is.. he also seems to be YF2 instead of goldenface but I have a sky blue recessive pied hen that is also YF2 and her yellow color is way lighter than Sonny's so that makes me curious as well. My hen's color looks more creamier and Sonny's looks more like a yellow-green. Sonny's colors look alot like Cosmo's but Sonny is only about 3-5 months while Cosmo is 9 .. so I guess there is a chance that Sonny could be a goldenface if he gets brighter after his molt?

Okay.. that just confused me ..So if they result in a green shade of color they are green series birds!? even if they start as blue!? I'm new to this I get confused very easily..

But wasn't Cosmo a blue bird to start with? and then he changed to green.. so he is a blue series bird.

That's the same thing I was gonna say about Sonny (my budgie) since he is way darker than the first photo but his face isn't as bright as the second one.. but Sonny is only about 3-5 months so I guess I have to wait and see?

It was beacause of that same thread that I got curious too.. since my budgie looks exactly like Cosmo except he is a dominant pied but the yellow is just as bright and the blue is just as green lol.. still people said he was a YF2 now I'm thinking he is a goldenface!? So if it is a goldenface the yellow doesn't go into the body color? because if that is the case then my budgie is a YF2 and so is Cosmo?
