wonderful work guys! You both make me proud
  2. You need two gene for the males to show the sex-linked gene but only one for hens to show it. Hens can not carry sex linked genes. A hen can not give a sex linked gene to her daughter only her sons.
  3. thank daz. Marlony are you REALLY confused now? Sometimes it help to focus on one thing and understand that before moving on. It may help to remember to think like this: SeX linked gene are carried on the X chromosomes.
  4. Hope you folks out there aren't missing this thread. Don't forget to get your entries in!
  5. Here is the FAQ info: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...d=14&artlang=en And a thread with pictures of young budgies: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=13906
  6. Let us know, I would have thought you would be able to see in a clear egg but maybe not.
  7. Yes If they don't affect the same area of the body (dominant pied spangle for example)
  8. Yes it's looking great, and the sections I have checked out all seem to be running correctly. (mostly the breeding area.)
  9. The ceres are starting to get the pale/blue/white rings for hens and go darker pink for the males.
  10. they look so good! love them both.
  11. It's just like the old Buggie of the months if you think your budgie is cute or you get a great/funny shot enter it in and you just might win the title.

Hugs Mandy. You made a very hard choice and it seems to me the right one for your family and existing pets. You at lest gave these birds a happy last few days with some that cared about them.
  13. I'm with daz I don't really try until about 3 weeks.
  14. I have believed for a long time that only male talk, some have stated they have had a hen that could talk and of cause I can be wrong as well. But from what I have read males learn the words becuase in the wild the male will 'sing' differently to a hen to bond with them (this is for the cheating males) so they learn different whistles and chirps.
  15. wow it's like double the size of the others. Did you think to crack them open?
  16. males regurgitate seed to their mate as a bonding thing. Crop milk is only created by hen for young babies.
  17. Nice looking set up too Ask the vet about the calcivet he might be able to help. If you can't find it still add the egg shell with the mixture (when adding eggs) to help, crush it finely. I think your going to get some great looking bus from these two pairs.
  18. Sorry FGM I can't recall if it was limited to one per person or not. For this time around we will make it only 1 picture.
  19. wow Kaz I can see why you grabbed the YF he is nice. Is the last hen a TC or cinnamon?
  20. As brought to the attention of the staff most members here are missing the Budgerigar Of The Month competition. To become the May winner enter your pictures now. There will be two weeks from now before the judging to pick the winner. **G.mods and Admin may not enter as they are the judges** Good luck to you all
  21. 30 days is actually the MIMIMUM amount of time that most say is safe. It gives you a chance to check beavhiour and spot any signs of illness. If the bird does become ill you should restart the count down.
  22. Hugs Shawna I hope all is progressing well.
  23. Thats okay I an understand when your use to things a certain way. Seeing the full colours when the bub has grown fully will help as well then working out the mystery.
  24. sounds like a fave toy to me. remove it if you don't want her to connect to a toy like that
