Josh & Sandy's Birds
great looking birds! The Australian pied is also opaline. Are you saying he has only just had his first big moult now or when that picture was taken? What is the colour of the cheek patches on the recessive pied? he looks more grey to me. If he is mauve you will get green normals (dark green) the males will be split ino all will be split blue. There can be surprises since you don't know the history. If he is grey then you can get green normals and grey-green normals with the same splits.

Weird
Yellowface type 2 Recessive pied. By the look if the brighter feathers in patches and the cere only just changing colour I would thing about 3-4 months old and starting the big moult to get the adult plumage when the head bars are lost. The back patch does look interesting.

My New Clear Bodies:
congratulation Norm. My fingers are crossed :hap:

Baby Identification
I would think that would be a match. It would be easy for her to be split for blue. The bub is either a cobalt or mauve. Looks slightly mauve to me. Bea was right with the pale wings in the end :hap: Well done.

G'day
it takes a little while for new bird to settle in and move about. Sometimes a bit of music played softly help them to relax.

Colours For Beginners
If he has black eyes not red then he isn't an Albino. With the ring it rules out DEC. He could be a double factor Spangle or as you pointed out a dilute. Does he have any light markings on the wings?

Breeding Budgies.
Phillip, sorry but I had to change your pictures to links becuase they are over the board rules of 450 x 450 (they where 800 x 600) If you use the photobucket resizer tool and use the email size that normally brings them under the board rules. Your second pair is a yellowface type 2 (also called goldenface) He looks just like my two Marine and Squeaker (farther and son) The hen looks like a violet greywing. Greywing is a recessive gene. If the male returns to the same spot you might be able to put something in the way and he will return his attention to the hen. Only if you think it needs attention.

Weird
There is the yellowface gene. If your bird is a pied and yellowface it will look mostly yellow with some blue markings. This gene only blocks some of the yellow in the feathers.

My First Budgie
Cute little one. I can't see the cere in the shot to help with gender. But it looks slightly violet in colour. Try in the day time out in the sun (in the cage) for a clear shot of the cere in a bright light. Or tell us the colour and look of the cere. Save your money on the sandpaper for the perches. They are not good at keeping the nails trimmed and can sometimes case infection in the feet with cuts. Try instead in getting a rope perch or a natural branch from a native tree such as a gum tree to replace one of the straight dowel perches. Also if you want to try and tame him/her then wait a while for getting a mirror, they bond easier with the bird in the mirror than with humans. I know Bea, a member here, let her tame boys have mirror now with out an issue.

Mars And Crystal
Well I can understand when you have lookalikes Well you will get everything but the Ino daughters.
-
Mars And Crystal
He does look like it to me (kinda like Ozzie in that last shot ) Yes the mum could have been one which was masked by the ino gene. ******************** Umm Kaz have you got the parents right for Mars??I hunted out old posts and found this: MARS's parents Pluto and Saturn. Posted Oct 9 2006 here no Creamino mother if this is right. Plus Saturn is a spangle.

Breeding Budgies.
Hi Phillip Sounds to me that he hasn't quite got the hang of the mating part yet, and put all the move together correctly. Or as Splat stated he is over excited. I'm sure soon enough you will see them mate correctly (as in the male doing as you explained while standing on the hen. It will take a while for them to bond, it's good that the hen is taking an interest in the box. I've got birds set up at the moment that had to bond fist it's almost two week now before I saw any mating happening. So give them time. There isn't any concern with a larger show bird and a smaller pet type one. If your wanting to breed bigger birds the cock may increase the size of the young.

Hi Everyone
Normally with photobucket you can resize pictures that are hosted there, however I'm not sure if that will work with the animated ones. Welcome to the site and I hope you enjoy yourself here

Mars And Crystal
Mars and Crystal both have great taste in a partner. Mars is a spangle too right? It's a touch hard to tell in those shots. If he is: Spangles YF spangles Normals YF Normals Dominant pied YF dominant pied Dominant pied spangles YF dominant pied spangles DF spangles (can hide the pied gene) DF YF spangles (can hide the pied gene) Ino daughters either YF or not Sons will be split opaline If she is a sky violet possible violets as well (possible in all mutations listed) If he isn't a spangle then you will not get the Double Factor spangles.

Tweetaville Breeding
Cage 1 - two eggs believed to be clear since the hen (Reepi) chases Kazza about. Cage 2 - second egg, the first was eaten by one of them. Again believed to be clear. Cage 3 - both enjoy spending time in the box Cage 4 - Mating seen today.

Welcome to the site I hope you enjoy yourself. Have a read about, don't forget to check the FAQ area and feel free to ask any question. Also we do LOVE pictures here

They Have Pink Ceres?!?
I still can't see the cere much. If it's a bright pink/smooth cere then it's a male. As Kaz states a 2 year old hen should have gotten a brown crusty cere.

Had Nest Box In For Awhile, Thought Something Would Happen But...
remove it. Normally something should happen in two or three weeks of a nest box being added. How old are they? Did you move the cage while the nest box was there? did you let them out to play still? I would wait at least a month and only add if they are of age and still in condition. If not I would them leave them for at least 6 months.

The Budgieman
It was interesting and fun to watch, but there was still a touch of doubt in my mind with the bird fully flighted. Yes you can have great control and bond with the birds but all it needs is something unexpected to scare them into flight.

Not To Sure What Colour
so am I good luck

Baby Identification
He can't be a grey-green since none of the possible parents are grey or grey- green themselves. Any body colour showing up near the tail yet libby?
