so cute and yay for peeps
  2. Huh I think your stole my brain cell cuase that didn't make sence. Do you mean I describe something then post say three picture yet only one it the right one?
  3. sorry Lin I thought they would be easy. Pisssst- you could have saied they were normals for 1/2 a mark
  4. :(Laughing out loud): Well that when better than I was hoping. Yes Lin your right, I said we were starting at the begining, to learn anything about genetics you need to first know what is normal:D okay I'll find some more pics of a different type. guess these two, they are different to each other and just green will not cut it.
  5. okay I think ti's time to post another 'guess the colours' post. This time I'm starting at the begining so if you know the answer give others some time to guess. Someone can give the answer in about three days If you'r unsure of why they are such and such feel free to ask.

it's more co-dominant, so you would get 50/50 of spangles and normals

Rainbow she said the partents where the two green/yellow ones (the one at the back and the one to the left of the picture) Unless you are meaning that the YF are a blue type bird not green, but that gets confusing to new commers to genetics....like lin Yes Daz that's right but it's easier sometime just to stick with green. As I stated above :(Laughing out loud): oh I just thought of something if these two babies are ino's then they both have to be females since it's a sexlinked gene and only a male can be split for it.

I give my bird grass seeds, they love them but this is from my own back yard and a lot of it the old seed that I chuck out (then it's not wasted as I feed it to the a few day/weeks later ) Mine have always turned their noses up at broccoli. Try some lettuce he might see it as more of a leaf in interesting then something invading his cage. or I won my freckle over with carrot pieces with sprinkled seed over it, she went close for the seed but found out the table was yummy too.

Couldn't sorry I guess it's the same place I onl got a quick looks since i was with others that were there to look in another store. Can I have tiny such a cutie pie. good luck with the next round, hoping to see something different this time?
  10. good luck Bea. I remember working out the day the eggs where 'meant' to hatch. I was upset that nothing happened, but then two days later I heard peeping at 9 pm and OVER the t.v I was shocked at the noise and just had to wake up mom and dad, well dad since mom was busy with the new baby, I was at first thinking something was the matter with Freckle.

yes we can tell with a picture around the 5 week mark we can start to guess at genders I said that a blue budgie is split to green because that is what a few of my budgerigar books said. It stated that green/blue bred back to blue will produce fifty percent green/blue and fifty percent sky blue. But it put the green first anything listed after the / means it's split. The outcome you spoke of happens becuase the blue gene from the blue parent matchs to the one hidden blue gene from the split parent to get a visable blue baby.
  12. *Nerwen* replied to a post in a topic in Breeders Discussion
A blue bird can not be split for green. Green is dominate over the blue gene so if a bird gets the green gene it shows up green. Shell- your yellow and green birds are Yellow face type 2 spangles. And they babies are so cute I think they are about ino's an albino and creamino. This happens with the ino gene and the yellowface gene joining up. If the eye turned out to be dark/plum then they would be double spangles, know as black eyed clears.
  13. *Nerwen* replied to a post in a topic in Breeders Discussion
err what part are you meaning is yellow and which part green? Are you meaningly they both look like green normals? Do the babies have red eyes? With that pair you might only get these colours but since there is no knowldge of their genetics there may be plenty of other genes that didn't get a look in this time round. As to the other match, But you will only get yellow and green babies becuase it is dominate over blue Unless the hen is split for blue. Meaning the blue gene is in the bird but hidden by the colours you see.

as the others said but you you want them tame start handling htem now, whil ein the box just hold them for 5 or so minutes a day so they are use to hands.

ohh I will have to go fine them and i have a lookie Thanks for the tip. Any chance of more pics wait on i looking into a produce store along that road about a month back and it was the place that had the silly breeding cage where you could remove or look into the boxes. Wish I knew the name of it :hap:
  21. (Laughing out loud), they are the correct terms for a white face blue (mutant1) and a type 1 YF (mutant 2) :hap: Blue and YFblue sound so much better
  22. *Nerwen* replied to a post in a topic in Breeders Discussion
That was why i was asking about his warbling Julie But Rainbow gave you better things to look out for. But he doesn't have to start it, Marine NEVER starts the song that gets out of hand sometimes but I know he is a boy
  23. My freckle is a goldenface Marine is a Parblue (yellow) I must fine that website that explained it well
  24. Lin it's just better if you show us pictures Yes you can get yellow birds with out red eyes in two different ways. one- as eterri said dark eyed clears- which is two different pid gene joining up. two- Black eyed clears- which are double factor spangles.
  25. oh yes took me a while with the new terms, then trying to rewrite them the way everyone else uses them (Laughing out loud) (say parblue around here and everyone is like HUH?? )
