you lucky things are going well for your budgies. If you don't know the amount of eggs laid or chicks hatched it means you haven't been checking on them each day. Budgies lay eggs every 2nd day and the babies hatch in the same way. So there can be a big difference with ages in the babes of one clutch. They take four weeks to grown in the nest and about another two been feed by the parents and learning to brave the world outside. I would be keeping a close watch on the cockitiels that they don't bully the young ones when they are learning to come out of the box and fly. Also it's a good idea to give your parent budges some veggies like lettuce and carrots and some fruit like apply (no seeds) or pears to give them something extra nice to eat and feed the young, Some sprouted seeds would be an idea as well.
  2. Close. If the bird is a green there is not need to add the yellowface, this is only for birds with a blue body colour and yellowface. The first is a grey green The second is the Olive.
  3. yes daz that's right, sinply becuase no one else had heard of Parblue, I stoped using it. Took me a while to jump the name to use the common name again. But there isnt a type on the goldenfaces
  4. I don't think that markd a goldenface or a yellowface, but my book does say something about them having a stronger brighter yellow than others, Ringo has a stronger face mask then the rest of the yellow on her body too.
  5. opps sorry forgot he was a spangle too I was meaning the blue looking spangle. and yes there is such a thing as green violet, it looks a lot like a olive bird.
  6. not that I could see. that top picture isn't working now.
  7. :hap::hap::hap: but wouldn't thatjust be so cute
  8. yes they are all blue birds, I think the spangle could be a violet as well.
  9. :(Laughing out loud): I think I got a bit excited Rainbow, but that bird has a lot of white on the wings. Daz yes But I called him a yellowface 2
  10. daz your been using that program again and you have to change all the dots to the VISUALLY side, rainbow said the birds where pied so they are not spilt. But wow it is a lot (Laughing out loud).
  11. what sort of pied ? dominate or recessive? with both of them sf dominate pieds I got, with the male as a sf grey: 6.25% grey(sf) blue yellowface clearwing /opaline 12.5% grey(sf) blue yellowface clearwing pied(sf) /opaline 6.25% grey(sf) blue yellowface clearwing pied(df) /opaline 6.25% blue yellowface clearwing /opaline 12.5% blue yellowface clearwing pied(sf) /opaline 6.25% blue yellowface clearwing pied(df) /opaline 6.25% grey(sf) blue yellowface clearwing violet(sf) /opaline 12.5% grey(sf) blue yellowface clearwing violet(sf) pied(sf) /opaline 6.25% grey(sf) blue yellowface clearwing violet(sf) pied(df) /opaline 6.25% blue yellowface clearwing violet(sf) /opaline 12.5% blue yellowface clearwing violet(sf) pied(sf) /opaline 6.25% blue yellowface clearwing violet(sf) pied(df) /opaline okay worked it out with some help all the different colour you listed was just a bit too much for my brain to handle Oh and df yf is for type one so your mixing the two together not sure of the outcome. with a normal again the male sf greyand sf dominat pied: 25.0% grey(sf) green /clearwing 25.0% grey(sf) green pied(sf) /clearwing 25.0% green /clearwing 25.0% green pied(sf) /clearwing
  12. raibow I didn't know oyu had a spangle!! (second from right) How did that happen? *looks closely at Raibow (the bird)* was he a spangle?
  13. actully the blue in the first picture looks like the type one yellowface, there isn't a hint of green in the body. Rainbow- I meant to add that but I was getting REALLY late to get to an appiontment (Laughing out loud) , bad time to just 'check' the forums. I like your edit it helped me.
  14. how old is Apple now? If he is eating seed I thinky ou need to take him off the cereal, slowly of cuase just don't stop it all. Reduce the amount for each feed so he need to eat more seed to fill up. The mother usually stoped around the three week mark and this is when the farterh takes over all the feeding, to temped the babies out of the nest to eat so there is room for the next round. They should be eating seeds around the 5-6 week mark.

aww Daz sorry to hear that :(MAybe witht he two bubs around Bluey and Spanlges hasn't been able to find some quiet time yet
  16. me too Rainbow, Like the dilute gene has three levels (grey wing, clearwing then dilute) I kinda feel the yf gene is the same way found this site: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/2761/photos/gf.html I would call the grey and violet as yf type 2
  17. you lost me? you mean like a dark eyed clear is the making of two pied genes that a golden face is the joining of the two yf gene? No I think it more of different names used over the world for the same thing. http://www.birdhobbyist.com/parrotcolour/symbols.html http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/c...er/yface02.html it lengthy but they do help.
  18. nope look closely at the body Daz.
  19. I called one like daz's bird a goldenface and one like marine a type 2 where the bleed is patchy. I found a YF spangle sky blue (but also opaline) from here: http://www.parrotparrot.com/budgies/ On the right. and a darker coloured one from here: http://anduin.eldar.org/~carol/budgies.html again on the right.
  20. err if you in fact saw a bird like that then it was NOT a budgie, you can't get colours like that, but a yellow face and blue body you can. Matched to a normal blue then the babies will be mostly yellowfaces as well. Like this:
  21. (Laughing out loud) oh sorry for the mix up the first one I posted might be the closest I can find you, she is a yellowface spangle grey green. eterri- goldenfaces as far as I can work out, is a bird where the yellow bleed as made them look like a normal green. So it's more as a step up from yellow face two.
