Twin Budgies?
oh yes I remember that bit of info too now It might be possible but as stated at the start this guy Mark as been breeding for 20 years, surely he would know not to breed any under the age of a year.

Ranbows And Pied
Now you have to understand what each bit acts Yellowface is dominant over thew hite face gene and isn't sex linked so that's an easy part it can be on either the male or the hen. Opaline is a sexlinked gene. To get young appearing in the first generation you need a opaline male, or a opaline hen matched with a split male. Whitewing is the name for clearwing in the blue line. This is recessive, so to get any in the first generation you need either two split for birds or one spilt and one clearwing. So a pairing like: Whitewing male slpit opaline with a yellowface opaline split whitewing hen has the chance to make a Rainbow.

Scaly Face?
the mite burrowing into the beak and surrounding areas so the tunnels you are seeing is the path the mite has taken. there was a pet shop once where i told them they had the start of some scaly face, I had to point out the three birds you could see it on, they only had a beak like hers nothing had yet gotten outside of the beak and I was told it was just wear and tear the lady didn't even catch one for a closer look. Wosh I had the nerve to cry out in a loud vioce about buying a sick bird Fingers crossed everthing goes well for her at the vets. Have you gone back out to double check all your birdies?

How Old To Breed?
Alot of breeder believe 10 months is an okay age to start a male but as rainbow stated there can be issues with the age and emotionally state of the bird.

Twin Budgies?
Never heard of it but I can see it would be possable. It would kinda be like a double yolker in hen eggs. Hope all goes well for him and he should give this pair another try next time to see if he can get it again.

Rainbow would it cuase fighting if you let them out at different times so the males can't get to the girls? If the can't interact then there will be no chance at breeding.

Scaly Face?
oh the poor little girl, yes I believe that is scaly face, and you don't have to have both areas affected just that both can.

Rainbow I'm sorry to hear thi The niose must be sending you crazy I can't think of anything more than what you have done, other than remove the poor little boy. Freckle was losing her head feathers just above her cere from Pie tapping her beak all the time but after sepertation and a molt they grew back in. Without the one bird they are trying to 'court' they might spread the love around a bit more too I wonder if it's teh fact you have made them lose some weight that has kicked this mood in as well

What Mutation Is She?
both myself and raibow are saying that clearwing is part of the dilute gene. There are three levels first is grey wing where only the flight feathers are grey toned rather than black, the second is clear wing (your little one) where all the baring on the bird wings and back are grey. the aim for a clear wing is almost no wing marking but a strong body colour. The third level is dilute, this is where the whole bird's colouring is less in strengh than a normal bird. hope this is still understandable sometimes I tend to rambling into genetic that newcommers to the idea don't understand

What I Learn't
There is a visual violets that look like a coblat blue, I think if I'm remembering correctly they are sf violets. I think this is what the people are meaning at the shops. But what a stunning bird

Gus And Harley
something happened to the links? Did you move were the pics are hosted? If not then it's somwthing up with the host server.

What Mutation Is She?
actually Lady clearings is step two in the dulite gene. I'm with you the colouring of the wings are too light for a grey wing but the body colour is still strong so it rules out dulite. Lei she is a cutie

Gus And Harley
okay cute looking birds Looking at the touch of wing I can see on one of the pics I'm not sure he his noraml. Is it possable to get a shot of his back? As to the babies they will all be grey since it is dominant. And Gus will have to be split for recessive pied for any pied babies to show up. If he isn't then all the babes will be split.

Me No Know.
bek can you clear something up is the patch of color you spoke of under the wings, like you only see it when the wings are up or on the rump of the bird, just above the tail?
-
Me No Know.
^George - daz's bird I believe when bek said 'underneath his wings' he was meaing just above is tail, Imight be wrong and int hat case then yes a DF dominant would suit. Bek can we get some pics of this green patch and the markings on his head?

November 2005's Budgie Of The Month
well done Eterri That is a stunning shot

Me No Know.
I agree with Rainbow, yet I lean to the fact that he is a recessive pied.

Color Of My Budgies
young females have a blueish cere with white circles around the nostrils, and yes males keep the pink cere of young all their life. Female are physically ready from 6 months but not Mentally until 12 months. Pet birds can stay in condition all year round. But breeding times are normally spring and early autumn (fall) Lin you should have guess, you got to use that knew knowledge or lose it :ausb:
