Genetic Lessons
 Your not wrong totally Rainbow, he is a TYPE if dilute but not the third level of the gene. Which confusingly is called dilute as well. Guess there is no other trying here, so I will tell you picture 2 is a Greywing. (2nd level) and Yes the last is Freckle who is a goldenface spangle, but I was only after the spangle bit. Well done Bea

What To Do
add the box now, caren is right they like to know that there is a safe place to have these eggs before letting the male get close say we say. The cage doesn't really matter. The hen might get a touch territorial with another female but normally budgies are happy to see a friend. A lot of breeders put the hen in the breeding cages alone for a few days before adding the males, with no problems

I Think I'm Gonna Be A Grandma!
all those are signs that she is getting ready to lay. There will be some swelling around her vent area and if she was like my Freckle she may even pluck herself in that area. All signs that something is happening, but i'm sure it will still shock you when the first one appears.

New Bird Without Flightfeathers
(Laughing out loud) I think she tricked us all on the topic name Sunny Boy is a looker and he looks like a smart one with that last photo. It looks as if the breeder has left the last two feathers on the other wing, but cliped them all. This is an old style clip which i guess he muct have learn from and stuck with. Glad you found a cutie to join your family and yesi would say he was a recessive pied.

What To Do
the best way is to make sure they can not see one another. Put the two you want together in a different room. There may be some calling but since there isn't a bird alone they should take it nicely.

Pic - Now We Have Feathers
awww they are so pretty Yes I'm with eterri the one in the front is a boy. now the other one is a bit confusing. S'he looks like an opaline so I would lean more to a girl, unless you know both parents have that gene then i could be a boy.

Genetic Lessons
Thank you Bea. The reason was becuase his irsis ring would come and go So I wasn't sure if it was there becuase he was afraid of me or becuase of the gene. After a few more months it became clearer.

Breeding Question
it can chance depending on if this is there first time or not, the hen has to also get us to the next box and what to do which can take up to two week. But once the first egg appears then the others will follow every two days and the birds will mate every day.

Just A Few Questions
as long as it's isn't a draft, it could work okay it sounds like your male might be a opaline. Like this: bit where the green is on her your's should have blue. In the case all female babies will be opaline yellowfaces. All the male babies will be yellowface normal split for opaline. Meaning they have the opaline gene but it doesn't show on their feathers.

Male Or Female..
With budgie most are happy with a friend either two males or two females or one of each. It doesn't seem to matter. Yes there is a risk of babies with one male and one female, even with out a nest box sometimes they will find their own way around that. There is a member on here right now that had two budgies lay and raise two clutches with a box and when offered one didn't use it. So if you don't want that headache sick to same sex couple. Then again this is easier said than done sometimes, since a lot of the time it takes a trained eye to see the difference in young budgies to which gender is which. Have a look around the site there are plenty of threads and links to show you how to tell between the two. Now wether you want two girls or two boys is up to you. Males are the ones that make the noise, put together they will both sing happily all day long with each other. While the females are the ones that will happy tear everything you think is cute and would be fun to play with to pieces. The girls to sing but it is more often the loud calling noises to birds outside, rather then the gentle peeping that the males do while falling asleep or courtship wobbling. Just think about what you are after in the birds and set out to get that dream. Also keep in mind that two budgies are less likely to bond to you than each other. If you are wanting a bird to happily sit on your shoulder then just one bird might be the better option.

Just A Few Questions
i hope wher you are it is still cool or that you have a sool area for your breeding budgies, the heat takes it it out of the pair and the babies can die from it. If there is a reason you wish to breed right now then make sure it is set up for the hot summer months. and yes it sounds like they are courting well. does the male have the body colour on the wings as well or are they just balck and white. Does your hen have any black markings on the wings or it is a straight yellow? so far I can tell your your male is a sky blue, one i have the answer to the wings i can tell you more and your female is a yellowface type 2 (again more info on the wings before I can tell you more) The babies will all have yellowfaces (like mom)

The Most Stupid Budgie In The World!
OH boy now is that cute or WHAT I'm with Lily UNIQUE!

Genetic Lessons
oh I thought you meant the woing patterns been 50% lighter. Well I would still think a clearwing, what the breeder is aiming for is a strong body color and grey wings, but it doesn't always work that way. But then I guess too he could be a poor dilute, to have strong wing markings.

Genetic Lessons
well last time i looked at the picture he seemed darker, but looking now yes he does seem too light to be a greywing. I still say the only reason for the white clear flights is becuase of the pied gene, you don't have to have a matching tail, you might to get a continental clearflight but for for a simple dominant pied. Now white wing is a blue term for clear wing. So Crystal is a Clearwing(whitewing) dominant pied. The second level of the dilution gene.
