  1. No No No Rainbow your mixing the clear FLIGHT with clear WING. I would mark him as a grey wing dominant pied. The fact that his flight feathers are white has to do with the pied gene not the dilute gene.
  2. that's just what crossed my mind too Rainbow I want to dash of to all the pet shops around here and take a quick look at all the blues :ausb:

Do as Daz's says, don't bother with the real eggs just throw them away, it will not hurt her for this little while to continue laying, but it will harm her to have them hatch. Once the babies are out remove the boxes.
  4. I told you above -mauve there is nothing wrong with this it's perfect Wait did I say that your you? I'm all confused with the quotes now. This is wrong, one bird can not be all three levels at once, becuase this gene works on the same area simply at different strengths. good

okay daz in the book it is still under luntino, and is stated as a name used for when the luntino gene doesn't revmove all the colour from a bird to have pure yellow or pure white.
  6. having a birght orange beak is one (but not the best one) of the signs for a recessive pied.
  7. yep both of you are correct. Males young and old have pink cere females are like normal young ones have a blue/white cere the grown up ones have a tan cere. Any chance of a picture?

no becuase either bird is a clear wing or a dilute of any kind. you will get 50% spangle and 50% normals.

i was thinking lacewing. becuase the wing markings are faint.
  10. Maz is a cutie :dbb1: No really I think he might be a grey green dominant pied. Daz- you bowl me over, i have always though ones like this as sky blue and looking like that from the flash of camera, but i wonder if this is the way to spot a double factor parblue.

:ausb: When I have the room to steal some of your babies :dbb1: They look great Daz and lucky you, I'm an itching to get some more, but i don't have the room....yet. You sure Lisa doesn't have red eyes? or it's just the picture that looks like it.
  12. that's right HurdyBirdy, also some pied if the blue is split for it too.
  13. yep perfect Bec. But the question is do you in fact have an albino? Does your little girl have red eys? If yes then she is an albino. A picture of the male ( her too ) would help to work out what you might get.

Shade coth might work or even simply a fan to give a breeze to the birds. It might be becuase at that age they have all or most of they feathers but still spend the whole time in the nest box.

Try the green olive with her. You might lose the grey colouring but once you know she will breed you can try her with one for colour. If it doesn't work well I don't know try all the males :ausb:
  16. The parents are the ones that are offering a small amount of seed to the ones that are old enough for it. They can in fact feed every baby a different type of diet according to age. Since you are using a formula that is made to hand raise budgie I would worry about the seed. I must state I have never hadn reared a budgie before. But the formula should be fine in itself. I wouldn't start worying about adding seed to him until around 3 almost 4 week mark.
  17. great to hear

not sure about the usa but over here in aus land the one in the pet shop are plastic and of one colour with no numbers or letter to record down. The only plae I've seen with the correct ones (speacial colour for the year and numbers) are budgie clubs or advertisment in budgie mags.
  19. Don't put any disenfectant on it unless it is made for bird, human stuff can be harmful to our pets, since we have a different ph level and other things. I wonder what a bird's ph level is if at all I know a dogs is different.

(Laughing out loud) poor girl. EWhat suit of male to you pair her with? Just asking cuase maybe she doesn't like the smaller pet type ones. (not sure what you have your collection) Also if you have tried with all whitefaces try a yellow one. How old is she? Does she spend time with certain ones in the aviary?
  21. Yes this is an ausie book, the author in fact lives in brissie But i believe he had other breeders from around the world to help with information. And remember this book is not just on budgies, these terms suit the mutations for all types of parrots, and lets you know what you are dealing with reather than the pretty names given to it, which get used around freely and for different muations in different breeds of birds. oh and Daz on page 199 with the other picture of the pieds, does it seem to you they have titled them incorrectly?
  22. Who how wonderful for you. Acually re-doing this wouldn't be that hard Lucky. You simply need a yelowface spangle (either gender) and either a blue spangle or a green split for blue spangle. The Normal blue one would work better since you would get more YF babies, since that gene is dominant over the blue. I want one now Oh yet another spangle is on my wish list now for the next lot of budgies I buy.
  23. This bit is correct yes
  24. Daz- stop trying to confuse the newbies I was talking about dark factors Parblue is a different gene once again. I think you made a typeo and meant recessive to the normal green and dominant over the blue gene. Lin (and others) you can ignore this part just me and daz having a chat :hap:
