New Member + New Budgie
:dbb1: The number of posts we see on here of owners wishing their little bundle would be more friendly towards them and it seems you have an adorable pet which your trying to stop what other would die for. okay yes I understand that these behaviours can before more problematical as time goes on, so it's good that your picking up on them now and willing to curb this a bit. 1 - most new birds have an 'ecape from cage at all cost' period, which can have seed or other dished chucked about or dug out as well as door lifting. You can try different sed holders if you think this will not stop, ones that can't be lifted off the side of the cage (or you could tie these ones down so they can't) The same can make the cage doors safe by using a peg to keep them shut. I would think the same training for a dog would work for a bird, try to ignore him and his noise when you first come home and only talk and let him out once he has settled, this way he will learn that sqwarking will not get him what he wants. It's hard I know, make a coffee or tea first or do some house work to distract you. 2 - do you cover him up at night? this could help with the time if the light gets to him later he should sleep in longer. Also you say he plays with your hands, why not try a ball with a bell inside (cat ones are fine) to him to throw about or kick around. It sounds like he is a full on budgie you picked

Newest Additions!
all very cute :dbb1: Flash doesn't bother them as I have noticed. It's a bit hard to see the ceres and colours in most of them but I think Lysander and Roxy are girls while Atlas is a boy. But better shots might tell a different story. Casper looks cute but the shot is too dark to tell.

Rainbow Budgie?
I don't think she is opaline either. Pieds can easly loss baring in all sor tof places, the fact that I can see no body colour on other parts of the wings would lead me to think the patch has nothing to do with the opaline gene.

I Have A Problem
congratulations on the egg. Glad to hear she is okay. DOn't worry about the shavings for now at the start they act as a "making this hole my nest" sort of thing. When the bubs hatch add some more every few days to help clump with the poops. Sounds like she is going to be fine. Is she looking after the egg now or not? also pencil is fine to use but can be hard to read later, and yes I use no-toxic, water based markers.

Budgie With Little Feathers
Do you have an avain vet near you that can take this little one to be sure she is in the clear or other feather deseases? Any chance of getting a picture for here so we can have a look? Don't over the do the spray (just to be on the safe side) if mites are not the issue here you can overdose her system.

Help Please! Any Idea's?
There are many different reasons that can cuase feather plucking. Illness, boredom, stress are a few. But they don't normally start with tail feathers, mostly on the chest area or under wings. By the sounds of things he has lost all his tail feathers? They could have had a fight over something, if winter got a hold of the tail feathers while stormy was flying away that can cuase some feathers to be pulled free. Is the cage set up so a cat can't climb up on it or next to it?? If not the tail feathers might have been grapped through the wires by a cat or something else. Like feathers said keep an eye on them and if the bleeding starts again use cornflour (or cornstarch) and take to an avain vet for a check.

Hi! My Name's Paris
I can't see any opaline signs but I would agree goldenface spangle.

Breeding Sort Out
pictures might help a bit getting an idea of what they look like will help some people. I would put the recessive with the DEC (if you know for sure that is what it is) then you can get more of them.

Ready For Your Close Up?
great pictures :bluebudgie: I think Squee is a girl.

Bully Father
if he is the youngest remove the box. Unless you want another round, then I would move to to a empty cage and any other chick old enough not to be with mum and dad.

Liquid Amber Branches
I've never heard of this three, but then I don't know a lot about trees (Laughing out loud)

Since one bub is clearly a spangle one of the parents has to be and I think we picked "that Boy" as it

New Budgie
have you got a millet spray? Hanging that up high and near the perch seems to get them going on the food side of things. They love it and it is easy for them to dehull.

What Are My Budgies' Mutations?
With no isis rings she would be a ressive pied. The wing markings look brown to me in the pictures which is why cheeta said cinnamon. She also looks spangle to me.

Flood Almost Killed My Baby Budgie
Bead soaked with water or weak milk can be used a stand by if need be or a treat tot he parents and bubs but shouldn't be used as a complete diet. As to being that stuffed, there can be troubles with sour crop arising where the food stays in the crop for too long and then the digestion slows down and can completely stop. If this happens the crop needs to be flushed out by a vet before any more feeding is to happen.

Whet To Do Now?
Daz has given some great advise. Is the bub still okay??
