it doesn't have to be brown budgie will breed at any time once they are given a place to do so. Which you did when adding the box. When the cere is brown it means the bird is in the best spot of their fertile cicle.
  2. Where did you get them from? Pet shop or breeder? if they really are 2-3 months old then they do not need to be hand fed. Budgie learn to eat seeds 6-7 weeks old.
  3. Kirby they are all so cute. I'm gald to see your little bubble gum is doing well. It's good to see you around agin as well happy holidays to you :budgiedance:
  4. okay it's a couple of days later then I said (sorry) But here is another quiz/test for those of you that wanted one. For each picture shown guess what colour and variety the bird is. 1. 2. the one on the left but feel free to guess the other too 3. just the one on the right 4. 5. 6. this one is hard to see but try it if you want a challenge Good luck all
  5. That was sweet to read, picturing these aviaries around the the world full of colourful birds.
  6. Then she is also an Cinnamon and the males will be split for that as well.
  7. Lovey you took my words, I was thinking what a stunning necklace for a little girl :hap:
  8. I understand your worry about stressing her. It is always up to you and what you wish to do for the care of your birds, I only suggested it so you could have a bette pictures of what to expect in around 10 days. As you realise eggs are laid every second day to candle them you need to candle for each egg when they are 5-6 days. For thoses that number the eggs it's easy to tell which one need checking. If you don't wish to worry about the candling and simply wait and see make sure you will be able to get to they young or see the young to be able to check on them.
  9. quarantining her now will just reduce the chance of the others picking this up. Just becuase you sit next to someone with a cold doesn't always mean you get it.
  10. he looks like a dominant pied to me as well and a yellowface type 2 matches what you spoke about with the patchy yellow and white with blue under the wings and a mix of blue and yellow (making green) on the chest. As to the faint/grey lines he sounds like he has a dilute gene either a greywing or clearwing. A bigger picture could help work that out. Sign up to Photobucket ( http://photobucket.com/ ) and upload your pictures to there (like you did to make a avatar) then you have an option to link the pictures to this site, use the third in the list ( the IMG one) copy and paste into a post here to have them show up.
  11. What do you mean by this? are the wing patterns patchy? Did you just mean instead of black they are grey? or Do the look different from a normal? With the yellowface gene when they are young both a type one and type two will only have yellow on their face, the yellow bleed through happens with each moult.
  12. well looking at Romeo he has one wing feather that looks spangle plus the patchy white and blue cheek marks of a spangle.
  13. He is a cutie pie Cheeta Recessive pied fallow. On a side note - Chirpy it's great to see you around again1
  14. Well it sounds to me that they are bonded. The fact that he feeds her is a sign of a strong pair. Also a Hen would not let just any male close to her nest site and eggs. There is a chance these eggs are fertile, I would recomment candling them to check. This is done with a strong flash light. You hold the egg close to the torch and look from fine red lines in the egg. Day five to six is the best to see this in budgie eggs.
  15. I hope she is fine and she didn't eat it. I have a soft spot for Baby too, it's great to read and see a little fighter like her.
  16. Back when these birds where first over in england they used coconut shells as nests for them. so they are known to breed okay in small spaces. I've even read online of babies layed and raised in a seed dish. What you have to deside here is are you ready for these eggs to hatch? (if they do) Are you happy to let her continue in this 'nest' or would you rather her start again in a box you made. You mentioned that Sonny tries to get in with her, what does she do? Scream at him try to attack him or happily lets him near her and the eggs?
  17. I don't know about the crested part but You will get: Grey spangles Grey normals Blue spangles Blue Normals All the males will be split for opaline. Does the hen have brown wings like it look in the picture?
  18. you might be able to track the breeder down and possibly get information on his parents and background as to what he is.

We can't really answer that. Was this with colony breeding or paired breeding? How old was the chick? There are many reasons a baby is attacked, from outsides bothering the hen or the pair are ready to breed again and attack the older babies trying to get them out and away from the nest. These are the most common.
  20. You're doing wonderful work there It's amazing how they overcome there fear in a hurry when seeing another enjoying themselves.
  21. I can't help with size but I would think if the partners were on the large side the bubs would be as well. I only remember hath saying to use a grey with Albino's so you don't get that blue hue showing around the legs.
  22. Cheeta this is why I commented on a question mark reamining on this guy until we can see one young to gain more information on him. Andrea just to be sure he doesn't have a show ring on a leg? Is this the second bird you took that you are meaning? This one: she is a yellowface type 2 Cobalt it is possible she has the violet gene as well. once her moult is over it will be better to tell.
  23. I agree with the other site that he sounds like a DF spangle. When you match a bird as he to another but another spangle all the young will get one spangle gene making them single factors. Sorry about the word normal in the last post what I meant is they will only show spangle not any pied gene unless Casper is split for it. As to the colouring when the bird is all white you can't tell if he has any dark factor genes. One makes a cobalt like Freebird two make muave and none makes a sky-blue. So it would be unknown how dark the babies would appear.
  24. okay I will try to plan another shortly. If Friday remains free for me (please please please) I will do one.
  25. I think becuase the suffusion is in patches and in the area found for a pied there has to be a pied gene of some sort.
