  1. If she isn't acting normally then a vet check up would be a worthwhile to make sure she isn't ill and okay to use as a breeding hen later.
  2. Hi and welcome that was a great to read I'm glad you forced the point to get the bird you wanted. I meant really all they do is take one 'special' looking bird and put it in the cage in hopes of more sales. I love all the names. Hope Adalard is better soon with the return of his feathers.
  3. Hi and welcome. It's great to see a new face (so to speak) around here :hap: We all love pictures and will be waiting and watching out for shots of your three.
  4. full body greywings are the greywing gene and the clearwing gene combined. you will get some greywings (diluted body colour) and some fully body greywings I think the ratio would be 50/50
  5. Yes if you have no other way the box can sit at the bottom of the cage. Sometimes like that it is harder to get the babies in or out and even to look into the box. But my first time with breeding I put the box on the cage ground.
  6. Yes your right they can't be split for spangle, I was just clearing up the comment on spangle cheek spots ( or at least I thought I was :hap: )
  7. Clearbody is a Par Ino gene so if a baby get one Ino gene and another Clearbody gene they look like a Clearbody. Hope you had fun at the meeting.
  8. Very funny But how often do you get snow in spring time (almost summer?) NOW it has snowed in Queensland! (just over the border) The last time for weather like this was about 65 years ago. A strong wind kicked in overnight here and continued all day, and now it's super cold almost the same as it was in winter! Last night I had a fan on so I could sleep it was that hot!
  9. That is super to see Thank you so much for the update I was thinking of this little one a few days back He is such a great colour!
  10. Spangle have a mix of white and blue in their cheek patches. Pieds can sometimes get one white patch while the other stays blue ( like my two pieds)
  11. the lack of bar makrings behind the eye are from the pied gene. Are you meaning about the white cheek as in one side is the normal blue and the other is white?? This is also becuase of the pied gene.
  12. Yes Dingo he is an Opaline as well, the wing markings look green to me. All his daughters will be opaline.
  13. It is very possible this one is an Ino. Males can carry the gene, while hen will always show it if they get the gene.
  14. Yes I would lean towards a boy as well.
  15. I agree with daz it's hard when the tail is different from the other gene and not showing either olive ( which could mean an olive bird) or black ( which could mean grey-green) At first I was thinking grey-wing but looking at the tail (all yellow) and the cheek patchs (mix of white and blue) spangle matches. I think he is a grey-green, simply becuase his body colour looks the same as other grey-greens around ( and like my Kree)
  16. It SNOWED today in North NSW!! (okay comment before was incorrect, the gold coast had a storm but not the snow :(Laughing out loud) This is really odd weather. Bea if you don't have a heater and are still worried all I can think of doing extra is another layer over some of the sides ( the wind direction one) for extra heat.
  17. ahh Mum might have been a DF spangle. Dad only looks like a greywing (or possible dilute) to me. Can wait to see your last one Daz. It will be interesting to see bubs from Czar now - will they look like the regular spangles or more like him? Would a normal be best to use or something else?
  18. I can see Minka as a very heavily marked spangle but Even after all the staring of Czar he still looks normal wing to me. I am super joyed to have more spangles
  19. I think to be a 'rainbow' they need to be a pied as well... but not 100% sure on that.
  20. Cheeta -yes a Lacewing and no. to get a lace wing you need both the ino and cinnamon gene. And as you know there are other red eyed brown winged birds that are not conected with the cinnamon gene at all.
  21. So does it mean they are not Malenistics spangles? Just normal ones? Is it becuase since looking at Jazz more she looks more like a spangle to me now? (and so is infact one!)
  22. Ridley - Looks at the throat spots is a great way to judge but the whole bird needs to be looked at as well. The fact this bird has red eyes rules it out as a cinnamon becuase they have normal black eyes. Kelly- Yep will work on another.

What does she do in the cage? sitting in one spot or act normaly and fly around with the others? If she is laying with no real nest site she may be seeing the whole cage as her nest and so not wanting to mess it up. When they are nesting they hold on and only come out to do their business. Have you got an appointment time with the vet? can your borther/family or even a friend take you? It does sound like nesting/laying behaviour but a check up would not go astray.
  24. great to hear Karen Sounds like a great breeder you have found there. Is she part of the same club you are joining??
