  1. lol All budgies that are not of the normal original budgerigar is a mutation. Some mutations have "Nick Names" such as Normal Sky blue. Which is a Blue mutation 1. a Yellow Faced Sky Blue is a Blue Mutation 2. So by crossing a Normal Sky Blue with Yellow Faces Sky Blue you should get what is called a Cream Face. A Dark Factor is commonly called a dark green or olive. A Parblue is a combination of blue and green (ei Parially Blue) a Type 1 is a yellow face and a type II is a golden Face. Here is a Parblue II Spangle Nerwen and I are studying a book that has these terms. It is very interesting. Think of it this way. Australians call it Corn Flour, the American say Corn Statch. We say Prawn they say Shrimp. You say (Goldenfaced Spangle) the book says (Spangle, Parblue 2 (Goldenface)) I hope that at leasts helps.
  2. Sorry to miss lead you Carmz But the first isn't a green yellowwing
  3. It could be a yellow faced green budgie with yellow wings. :hap:
  4. Yellow wing is a new mutation to me. :hap:
  5. One reason why you should quarrantine at least 30 days...some say 42 days before you allow the new bird/s to come into contact with your existing birds.
  6. There is 3 stages of Dilute. Clearwing Greywing Dilute. You can see these in another post on the site.
  7. Its good because you can mistaken the first one for something else but the last one is obvious The middle two are interesting because you have to pick the change in the colour. Now every one will be scratching their heads..........
  8. I wondered what happened... SSSShhhh Bea I think we were close.

  11. Budgerigars Budgerigars or budgies are known for developing various solid external tumours as well as internal cancer. A common cancer affecting the kidneys or reproductive organs causes a unilateral (one-sided) lameness that owners often mistake for an injured leg. Cnemidokoptic mite infestation is a frequent cause of crusty dermatitis of the cere (area around the nostrils over the beak), face and feet. Thyroid disorders such as goiter and hypothyroidism occur in budgies. While not common in birds, budgerigars can become afflicted with diabetes mellitus. Chlamydiosis is a common cause of respiratory disease in these popular birds. Since many owners incorrectly feed an all-seed diet to their budgies, hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) is a problem that often causes death in this species. While reproductive problems are not usually seen in most pet birds, egg binding is seen with some frequency in pet budgerigars, even those housed individually without a mate. Thanks to the Canberra Veterinary Hospital
  12. Hope all goes okay. I cleaned down my aviary last week with a disinfectant. I'll do it every 6 months.
  13. Blue Mutant 2 + Blue Mutant 1 = Creamface Greywing + Clearwing = Full body colour greywing Parblue 2 (golden faced) + Dark Factor = Mauve Parblue 2 (golden faced) + (SF)Dark Factor = Colbalt
  14. Scaly Face Symptoms: beak deformity, encrustation of the cere, nasal obstruction, lameness of affected legs and feet Description: Scaly face/scaly leg disease starts from the beak and spreads to other areas of the head and body. Treatment: There are several methods for treating this disease. Dichlorvos pest strips placed around a cage are highly effective in mild cases. The pest strip should be out of the reach of the birds since they are toxic. Liquid paraffin, petroleum jelly, crotamiton, and mesulphan work well at penetrating and dispersing infected tissue when extensive lessions are present; repeated treatment may be required to rid the disease. Improving the diet with greens rich in vitamin A as well as vitamin and mineral supplements will help in treating the disease. Treatment should continue for three consecutive days and when necessary repeated in 1 week. Beak deformities must be trimmed frequently to allow the bird to eat. Aerosol treatment in the heavily feathered areas of the bird should be performed using a nebulizing apparatus and a mixture of 20 cc Domoso, 20 cc sterile water, 1 cc Tylan and 4 cc malathion (95% solution). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bea I use Scale Face from Aristopet. Got it at a pet shop. Did the trick with Huey.
