Which Is The Best Brand Of Budgie Food
What's wrong with a seed and fruit and vegtable diet. I like the pellet diet but couldn't get the birds to go for it. It is too expensive throw out.

Egg Bound
Try some olive oil around the vent...but please do not try to break the egg. It is not a good idea. Egg Binding Symptoms: abdominal distension, intermittent bouts of straining, abnormal posture, partial paralysis, weakness Description: Egg binding occurs when the ****** is obstructed with a fully formed egg. This condition may be due to obesity, oversized eggs, low blood calcium, poor muscle tone, nervousness, variations in temperature and lack of suitable nesting place. If the condition is not treated it can rapidly progress to oviduct and/or cloacal prolapse. Treatment: If the egg binding is very recent then placing the bird in a warm cage (80 - 85 degress F) and placing a few drops of slightly warmed mineral oil or olive oil in the vent will often facilitate egg laying within 3 hours. In stubborn casis, slight pressure above the egg may assist, but extreme care must be taken to not break the egg. If the egg is accessible in the ******, the contents can be removed with a hypodermic syringe and needle. The eggshell will need to be removed in pieces. If the egg is further up the oviduct, then the egg can only be removed via a laparotomy. Injection of egg-bound Budgerigars with calcium borogluconate has been associated with rapid expulsion of egg.

Well it's been 8 days. Don't worry. it can take between 11 and 18 days for them to settle down. I have two pairs breeding at the moment. My Dual cage. Closer Look. Both Pairs have been set on the 10th Dec. One pair has their first egg and the other have just started to investigate the nest box. Some areslower than some.

How are things going know? I hope everythings okay. :bluebudgie:

Food
Don't give them any fatty seed like sunflower. Keep them on the smaller grains. A good diet means better clutches. And try this link for help. http://www.tuxford.dabsol.co.uk/masterbreeder/front.htm

Heat
Try that Bea. Lit the lid a bit on the nest box and see if that helps

Growths?
minnie if you are on the north side of Brisbane, don't go to the one at Eaton's Hill. He says he is an Aviarian Vet but he could tell the difference between a male and female budgie. There is a good one at Narangbah.

Have I Got A Gerkin
Well thats the funny bit Nerwen. The two of them have been inseparible since Cinnamon died. They don't leave each other alone. kissing and calling. So when I put them in the box I thought they would have no problems. They are still Kissing and Calling and preening it's just the next step. Well maybe it's a bit early. Hope fully by Christmas there might be an egg?

Adding 2 New Female Budgies
How they will act is anyones guess. The dominent male my try to attack the females or he may be scared of them. They may all get along great or they may all fight. Who knows? Just keep an eye on them for a while and see what happens. But don't get too stressed. If they fight just separate them and keep an eye on them.

Male Or Female..
What a cuti. Good to see he is settling in. He looks about 8 to 10 weeks old. He looks like a dominent Pied with that head spot.

Breeding Without A Nest Box - Inadvertant Budgie Breeder Lays An Egg A
:ausb: Almost 2 weeks now without an egg, YAY!! Brought the loving couple out into the mainstream today to thoroughly scrub their cage and give them some flying time. Put them back in "jail" 2 hours later. Kinda worried, it has been very sunny here but they do have their natural light hours and room temp reduced. Christmas will come for them on December 23rd when they are rejoined with the flock. :hap: Great Going but.... I thought Christmas was on the 25th December

Have I Got A Gerkin
I decided to try some breeding over christmas. Found a place that is cooler that the aviary. I set two pairs, Huey and Ash, and Greeny and Duey. Huey as you may know "could" be a female. Well after 9 days. Greeny and Duey has an egg. Huey and Ash are still in the throws of courtship but........Huey dosn't seem interested in the nest box.......What to Do what to Do?????? I am going to wait another 12 days and if no eggs it's back to the hot aviary for them. I have tried Huey with Green (two females) no good. Ash Duey and Huey. (left to right) Photo taken 6 months ago. Greeny
