  1. Betty laid her first egg today finally I was so close to taking them out so i am glad I waited abit longer now YAY
  2. Well you were right guys thanks heaps Betty just laid her first egg YAY so here is hoping it is followed by a few more and Jordan gets with the program with her own
  3. hey pearce it not so much the temperature but the wind I would be worried about, I would say if they are in closed cages (the ones that have the wire just on the front then they should be fine but if they are in all wire cages where they are exposed to the wind then I would cover them up,
  4. I would say a cock too and in good breeding condition, I have a pair in at the moment and he is in the box nearly as much as she is, even goes in when she isn't.
  5. Thanks guys I was really giving up hope but I will leave them in and see what happens
  6. okay so I am nearly at the point of taking both my breeding pairs out of the cabinet cause there is still no eggs but i want your opinions on a few things first Betty is in and out of the box all day, I put shredded and scrunched up newspaper in there (i can't find the right woodshavings) and with in half an hour she throws it all out, She seems to be getting abit tubby and her vent is more prominent, I have read on here somewhere about "egg poop" (what exactly is this?) and while cleaning out the cage I have noticed her dropping some HUGE poops, is this and the above signs that she is getting ready to lay eggs??? I don't want to take her out just to find she starts laying in the holding cage but I also dont want to leave her in the for there rest of the year, I have also read about covering the box hole but am worried in case she is close to laying. Now Jordan, she finally took interest in the box and now wont come out except at night and the odd tme during the day to stretch her wings, her mate seems to be feeding her and sits just outside the box whenever she is in there. I put newspaper in her box too but she has chewed and scrunched it up more and she also seems to be chewing up some part of the box, she wont even come out when I lift the lid to have a look. Her poop also look alot bigger than normal and same with her vent. Ohh and unlike betty and pluto I haven't seen any mating happening with Jordan and Mack. so what do you all think, should I leave them abit longer or not???
  7. thanks guys I suggested pretty much all of that and it seems something has worked cause budgie is eating and friend is happy
  8. Hi all was wondering if anyone can take a guess at how old these guys are, I am guessing that the boy is still fairly young maybe six months but the girls look older to me what do you all think?
  9. that does sound abit harsh, the last one I went to for my little brother and sister was $5 each and I have never heard of them charging for the kids that are in the concert.
  10. cool thanks Kaz will do
  11. HI guys I know I have read about this somewhere but I can't find it and want to check A freind of mine got a new budgie, has had it for a day, but so far it hasn't touched it's food, the dishes are near the bottom of the cage and she asked if she should move them closer to the top, I told her to keep an eye on it and give it alittle longer to settle in, new budgies don't always eat straight away, but how long to leave before doing something? I know that a budgie can go awhile with out water but what about food? I wont to give her the right infomation and I am sure I read somewhere that you can give them a few days, is this right?
  12. LOL now that would be interesting I wish, she is orange cause she loves baby food, goes mental for it
  13. sorry I don't think I will be much help (enter the experts) but have you tried candling it to see if there is any movement inside?
  14. that is so cute, i wonder what it is AV I have one with an orange face but sorry no racing stripes
  15. cage is still advertised the same, i am going to follow Kaz's lead and email them
  16. okay so no cysts but there is one blood feather coming though o the wing that she seems to be favouring, there is also some slightly damaged flight feathers on the other, once she is on the ground she cant lift off at all almost like she has had her wings clipped.
  17. :hap: I figured that out, was just wondering if you could see the blood when they are just coming through?
  18. doesn't sound silly, could her mate be disturbing her? I have a pair down at the moment and the boy is always getting in the box with her, she doesn't seem to mind but not all hen want their man in the box
  19. thanks for the replies guys, no she finished molting awhile ago, she seems fine other than this, I will have to give her a good check over tomorrow, have a proper look for loose feathers and cysts, what do the blood feathers look like?
  20. I am worried about Amelia, she went in to the aviary on Wednesday with the other girls and seemed fine but as I have been going about the feeding and cleaning I have noticed that when she tries to fly she can't keep the height and ends up on the floor, then she runs to the side of the aviary and climbs back up the wire, the problem with this is that the only perch she can reach from here is the one at the front where there is little protection from the weather. I have brought her inside tonight cause it is still chilly and it is supposed to rain. I haven't seen her eating except when Fred feeds her (she can reach a food dish if she wants), she is not over weight and I can't see any damage to her wings. Has anyone got any idea what could be wrong?
  21. I am not much help but I hope that he is okay, I think you have done the right thing so far but others may have an answer for you Good luck
  22. thanks for that Neville I think I will just wait to get my hands on some instead
  23. I'll be in Perth in november can you hang on to them till then :hap:
  24. I know it sounds like a silly question even to me but I was reading about them and it says that they are a result of an ino and cinnamin so I was just wondering is all, I would really like some but haven't some across many
  25. Hi all I was wondering if I pair up my albino cock Zac with my new violet cin hen is it possible I could get some lacewing chicks?
