I checked all the bands on my birds that have them, all start with SA then 4 have a triangle and a 7 at right angles followed by a 4digit number, they are all green so I am guessing they are all from last year, do you think it will be okay to breed them this year? the other 2 have blue bands with SA -4 then a four digit number so i am guessing they are from 2004 which will be fine for the cock but what about the hen? Thanks Charlie

The New Ladies Of The House
Thanks for that Liv, i named them all last nite, the albine is Penny, the green is Jordan, the grey with lots of black around her neck is Roxy and the other grey is Amelia ( all are club size which is what i want to breed) i got them from the SA Bird Company 440 Main North Rd Blaire Athol, I nearly came home with another grey cock but i ran out of money, they had alot of the green and olive green and a few others that i would have liked. Charlie The SA bird company is a good place I was hoping you hadn't been to the "other place" on the MN Road in pooraka - THAT PLACE IS NASTY !!!!! Thanks for the tip, i had been there but the guy said that none of the birds he had were any good so he would call me when the next lot came in, but now you have said that I wont go again

Thanks Charlie

The New Ladies Of The House
Thanks for that Elly and yep they are quarantined, i never did this before but i guess if i am going to get serious then i will follow the advice i get from people in the know. They have their own cage but is it okay to have them in the same room as other birds?

The New Ladies Of The House
Hi everyone, i got alittle excited to day while out on the hunt for mates for my boys (pics in My flock) and came home with 4 new ladies. I haven't named them yet but here they are I know that they are not as pretty as some other colours but i have fallen in love with the greys, my husband thinks i am mental but says it with a smile and a small shake of his head. More Pics Of My Family
Hey Liv thanks for that, the Y/F spangle cock i have just named Fred Astaire because he is the smallest, biggest ladies man i have ever come across. I have only managed to breed 6 chicks so have last sumer out of 2 hens and he was dad to them all, wouldn't even give the other boys a look in, not sure if i will use him again though cause i am looking to breed the club size birds from now on and he is tiny compared to Jack. Do you have any suggestions as to what to mix with the others though, i was just going to stick with paoring them with the same colour type but if you have any better ideas i would love to hear them Thanks Charlie

More Pics Of My Family
Thanks for that guys, at least now i know what i have. The two scruffy looking ones (i know its a cliche but i am going to call them Tom and Jerry) came from the same hen, they came out of the nest almost bald but did manage grow some feathers eventually, i figured she had either pecked them or I wasn't feeding her right, which i have since found out i wasn't, next time i will get the proper stuff for them. Actually heres a question, if I wasn't feeding my adults right is that why i only got a few chicks? I had another hen that was laying at the same time and despite laying about 8 eggs each clutch she only managed to raise 3 chicks. Thanks again for your help guys Charlie
