  1. I read that the cycle is 7 weeks.
  2. I picked my Carrots today. I now have 150+ carrots in the fridge. I will sell some and the rest will go to the birds.
  3. I put mine in when the cere is light brown/Tan brown. She will come into condition within the first week. Some people say put them in when their cere is dark brown, which I dont understand because a hen's breeding cycle is 7 weeks right? So if you put her in when shes already been in condition for a while then chances are she will go out of condition before even laying eggs.
  4. Shannon have you ever got birds shipped to you before?
  5. Excellent news. I love horses.
  6. At 42 days old my babies go into a large cage by themselves. They stay in their till they look ready or reach their first moult.
  7. Shannon don't kill the daddy long legs if thats what you mean. They cannot hurt us and keep the more dangerous spiders away.
  8. Here is what I think: 1 - At first I thought hen, but Im not so sure. Their is glare ont he photo so I cant really tell. Im going with cock now. 2 - Hen 3 - Hen 4 - Hen 5 - Cannot tell at that age, Wait for Kaz. 6 - Hen 7 - Hen 8 - Cock 9 - Hen 10- Hen

Some mice can get through bird wire.
  11. I agree with this 100%. It is your own personal preference how you want to quarantine your birds.
  12. Hi all. 3 babies as of today, all fed well and looking healthy. I learnt somthing new today, did you know that the daddy long legs spider is the most venemous in the world, but its mouth is so small it cannot bite us.

Thank you Liv and Dean_NZ for the welcome. Do you have any rainbow budgies at the moment Dean? Thank you very much.
  14. The mite spray I use does the job in the first spray. Some pet shop brands may take longer or may not even work, it all depends. Personally I would wait 2 weeks, if he still has mites, then try again or by some new lice spray.
  15. Hi.

I was just reading some of my older topics, and realised I never made a introduction. So I am going to type a quick one now. I am 17 years old and I'm currently going to tafe doing certificate II in Horticulture. Last year I was working as a groundskeeper, but decided I wanted to be more qualified. My 2 hobbies are birds and gardening/landscaping. I have many gardens, including vegetable gardens. I have had them since I was a young boy, And I love it. I have been breeding birds for 6 years now, pet type and show type. I am going to my first show on sunday, and hopefully will be able to join the club then to. I hope that some people will get to know me better now because I've done this introduction. Thanks.
  16. Hi, I love the pairs. Second pair: All babies will be green. You will get 50% gf. All normals, some will be split rec pied. Im no good with greys so I cant help you with pair one, sorry.
  17. Be serious Noone will give out someone's phone number until that person has agreed for it to be given. Its common etiquette. I agree with this, Go to your club auctions shannon and see how much the birds are...
  18. To me it looks like a yellowface blue pied, recessive. If he is 9 then he is definitly a cock.
  19. I bought 4 new birds today, all are settling in well. I am also going to my first show on sunday, cant wait.
  20. Thanykyou for the comment. My birds love the ropes, half the timeI go in to feed them their is atleast one bird hanging upside down from it.
  21. If you breed recessive pied to dominant pied you will get all dominant pieds split recessive pied. To me it does not seem like a bad thing but maybe if you show your birds it could be.
  22. I have never heard of anyone seperating the sexes for their entire lives.
  23. I am talking about only seperating them for 2 weeks before breeding, not seperating them for their entire lives....
