  1. I do not like round cages, means the bird has less room to fly from one side to the other. They would not get much excersise flying up..
  2. Thankyou very much Genericblue for your help. It is green on its wing, not a stain. Its eyes are red so could that mean fallow? Im really puzzled.
  3. Hi. Is this bird a lacewing? Or fallow? Or somthing else? Eyes are red.
  4. She is very nice Melbournebudgies. She has really good head feather, I think its called directional feathering. Well done.
  5. The opaline hen has a purple ring so she is 4 years old now. I really like the grey male, wife of daz's bird.

I really really like the yellowface grey daz.
  7. I had a problem in my old avairy with the water coming in. I dont see how you can stop it if you have one side wire? The wind will blow the rain straight through the wire. How do you stop the water coming in?
  8. Very nice pictures shannon, how many birds do you have now.
  9. You get really good pictures with the showcage, I am going to have to get one.
  10. I finished it.
  11. Somthing about this one makes its head look to big for its body, it is amazing. I would love to have birds like that. I love this one, my favourite variety. Well done Liv they are all excellent birds.
  12. 3 new pairs will be placed in breeding cages tomorow. Pictures to follow. I'm currently insulating and fixing up an old garden shed. I am planning to breed finches or canaries or possible some other bird, aswell as budgies of course.
  13. How old are the babies you buy? I usually buy 1 - 2 years old hens and 1-3 year old cocks, no younger. After quarantine I usually breed them if they are ready.
  14. Is it possible the other hen chucked the egg out? Or did you actually see Lemon chuck it out? When colony breeding some jealous hens will go into others nesting boxes and throw eggs out.
  15. Thankyou for the post shannon. I have 1 show pair breeding at the moment, need to buy some more. I am going to a breeders next weekend, going to buy 10 males 10 females.
  16. 9 days till the first egg hatches from pet pair 1.
  17. Hi. The birds are going pretty good. I am unsure whether the babies have pbfd or not. They all have dirty vents, constalty (same as the first pbfd sufferers), their flights are crossed, they are ocasionally uneasy on their feet. But they can fly, where as the others never could. So I'm holding hope that they do not have pbfd.
  18. I agree with you about the lethal factor being a myth, however my experience is with crested canaries. Some of our crested paired up in the aviary crest to crest...worst it did was sometimes we got a bird with a double crest. Baby crests ?? I get birds with double crests...about 25% and NO FATALITIES. Hi, I meant like if you breed a crest male to a crest hen, would the chicks be more likley to get diseases and die, I did not mean breeding the babies.
  19. Can anyone confirm that this bird is a japaneese helicopter crest? What about saddleback, is it rare.

    Congratulationz DAZ. Well done.
  21. What happens to baby crests if you breed them? Are they more prone to health defects? Like feather dusters?
