Eggs Found In Aviary
Because in the wild birds are free to access everything they need to keep them in breeding condition, in captivity birds are restricted to what they are fed. Unless your friend has been maintaining his birds in breeding condition and is willing to do what's needed to be done if necessary to help the hen then he shouldn't gt himself into it.

Eggs From Other Species
So it sounds like the eggs themselves probably aren't an issue, the concern is if the babies hatch unsupervised? The other option is I get budgie mum to do most of the hard work and I take the egg out 1-2 days before it is due to hatch. I have a little home made incubator but it is self turned and that is a lot of work for that whole time but I could probably deal with it for a day or two, especially given you stop turning them in the lead up to hatching anyway.

Eggs From Other Species
Just wondering whether those of you who breed more than budgies have had any success incubating the eggs of other species under your budgies? I am considering sneaking the odd quail egg into my budgie nests under close supervision, once they are hatched(or in the process of hatching) I will remove the chicks to a heated raising box, but incubators are expensive so I was thinking about using the services of my flying babies until they hatch The eggs of my small quails are about the same size as a budgie egg and the other quails eggs are about twice the size.

I Have A Male White Lacewing
He's like a cremino lacewing .....I would assume that since lacewing is a combo with ino then any lacewing babies you got would be hens, unless you bred with an ino hen .Could be totally wring though. I woud think that f you can't get a lacewing then the next best thing would be an albino?

How Many Eggs Do Your Hens Lay
We have five so far from my current hen, she layed one late day before yesterday and is starting to get eggy bum again so I guess atleast one more to go. Since they lay a predetermined number of eggs will she lay the same number next time she sits as well or does it vary from clutch to clutch? How many eggs do your birds normally lay?

What A Weekend!
I think the issue is that the budgies aren't happy in their cages. This is why first and foremost my birds must be emotionally self sufficient so that they are happy to spend time oin their cages when it is someone elses turn to be out.

Hello Everyone
OOOhhh babies, lovely! Just so you know there are people of all different ages that use this site and some struggle to read text language, it's much easier if you can write the full words. I look forward to seeing your bubbas

What A Weekend!
Libby I suspect by cage Michelle means a dog crate. Many dogs, including mine, are trained to sleep in a crate and the dog sees it as a safe, happy place, much like a kennel.

What A Weekend!
I was told when I was a kid that I was allergic to almost everything with fur! Luckily I seem to have grown out of most of these now, but I'm still badly allergic to horses. I also have pet rats and they give me red welts if they try and sit on my neck so I understand.

What A Weekend!
Not having a go here at all so please don't think I am but why do you have a dog if you are allergic? Did he come to your family for a reason? I'm not one to go people for something like that as I am allergic to horses but I like them enough that I used to go and help my neighbour groom her horses dosed on antihistimines and wearing a dust mask I'm just curious because as much as I love dogs I don't think I could live with one if I was allergic.

What A Weekend!
I have budgies, a lorikeet, a tiel, a galah, a cat and a dog, all which are allowed in the house. HOWEVER, I recognise that the galah can't be trusted with smaller birds and the lori can't be trusted with ANY birds, the cat is locked in the back of the house or she is outside when the birds are out and so is the dog. Time is partitioned between all the animals so that they each get a good amount of time when they are allowed in the main area of the house but at no time are the small birds out when the larger birds, cat or dog are in the main part of the house. There is absolutely no way that they can get themselves into any area where they could run into the other animals. My dog is very obedient, she is a well trained kelpie who trots around the backyard with our bunny and has very good control under the 'leave' command but I till wouldn't trust her. The only bird that is allowed out when the cat is inside is the galah because she is terrified of him! (I don't blame her ) I understand completely that it is about keeping a balance, I think what people are worried about is the possibility of access. I there any reason that the dog can't be put outside or in a more secure area of the house?

Another Fluke!
I just want the option to breed them, I love the unusual types. They are fairly uncommon obviously so they would be a great addition to my breeding group.

Vege Problem
If the problem is that he doesn't like his new bowl try putting it next to his old one with just small amount in the old one and most of the food in the new one then once he gets the idea take the old one out.

How Do You Serve Your Fruit And Vegetables?
I have a mix, I have chopped vegies on a platter which they enjoy tearing to bits, I also sprinkle over the top with grated carrot, apple and celery which I mix with egg and biscuit and soaked legumes. In my smaller cages I put the grated mix in a bowl and then give them skewers as I find less mess that way. You can see what I feed and how chunky it is HERE

Vege Problem
Try cleaning it with a 'bottle brush', they are great for getting into difficult corners :hap:

What A Weekend!
I get what you are saying but panic can make an animal do strange things, why do you think a roo(or a deer) will run back across a road infront of an oncoming car even though they know it's there?

Id Please
Are you sure about grey green? She is very strongly yellow in real life, I have a grey greens and she is definately different to them.
