A Little Advice Please
The cage is about the size of a breeding box plus the width of a nest box. I'll post a photo soon. Here it is:and a side shotI candled the eggs, atleast three look to be fertile(lots of veins running all over), one clear at this stage but we'll see......How long does it take before you start seeing more than just veins?

A Little Advice Please
The cage is very large so they have plenty of space and it is actually arched in the centre which means I am able to check the eggs a couple of times a day at the moment very easily using the sliding door on the box. The standard food they get in the aviary is: budgie seed(there is also large bird seed as it is a community aviary), fruit and vegies, soaked lentils, a mix I make up of grated carrot, apple and celery mixed with egg and biscuit and soaked seed, multivite in their water and the mineral/calcium stones. The chicken crumble is the latest thing I have bought to try. I haven't candled any eggs yet, the info I said found to do it at 11 days and we are now on day 8 for the oldest. She sat her bum solidly on them the day the first was laid and has hardly even come out to eat. I have added a millet spray to the box last night to give her a bit that she can nibble while sitting.

A Little Advice Please
Well this is the first I have mentioned this as I wanted to see how it went first. I recently moved my main bonded pair that were looking like breeding from the aviary into a large bird cage which I have installed a nest box in. It's not a breeder box just a big square bird cage but they seem quite happy in there, it is in a quiet corner of the house which is much warmer than the aviary. So far we have 4 eggs, the first layed on the 20th and then one every second day as expected, probably another tomorrow if we are lucky. In the past I haven't really kept track of when eggs were laid just noted when we had baby noises in boxes. So just wanting to check a few things. Incubation is 18 days is that right? So I guess about another week and a half until we should see our first baby all going well. What supplements should I be supplying in the cage? In the aviary they had a mineral block which I often see all the birds chewing on and I also add multivites to their water. They have these same two things supplied in the breeding cage. At what point do I need to start giving things like soaked seed and chicken crumble? These sorts of things I pretty much used to just freefeed in the aviary as I never new if birds were about to breed, etc.

Those Who Have Bred Creminos
Can I use lutinos in this somehow? I have a lutino male and a female so I had thought a GF split lutino to an albino. I only have the one albino so if I use her in the first generation I would then have to line breed as I don't have a second albino to use.

How To Get My Boy To Drink Water From Bottle?
I think the one with the ball is for smaller animals If you get a small bottle and poke a hole in the lid , turn it upside down it will have a small droplet , so when the bird drinks the drops keep coming. Birds will naturally find water as it is in their natural instincts , they can smell it from along way away. but keep a watch just incase Mine drinks out of a ball bottle.

How To Get My Boy To Drink Water From Bottle?
I taught my lorikeet to drink out of a bottle. I put the bottle on the side of the cage and put a small empty water dish with the end of the bottle sitting in it. The drips are caught in the bowl and the bird learns to take the water from the bottle whie drinking the drips in the bowl. I didn't see the other thread so not sure how others have done it.

Another Fluke!
This is a great page on cresteds, it refers to the genetics of crests as being almost unidentifiable http://www.bestofbreeds.net/al-nasser/article4.htm

Helping Out Your Pet Shop
Well spoken DrNat. You obviously have a good relationship with your local pet shop. It would be nice if all pet shops were as open to education, I have worked in a number and sadly there are many that just don't care.

Those Who Have Bred Creminos
I think I will breed her to the GF male, then hold onto the split babies and see what they turn out to hopefully get a nice one to breed in the future.

Those Who Have Bred Creminos
One of my goldenface is type one, he has a nice definition between his face and a bright blue body(he carries violet also), would he be the best bet to try and limit the amount of wash out?

Those Who Have Bred Creminos

What To Wash A Budgie With?
I'd be concerned that it would be too caustic for a budgie. I tried the soapy water but she is still brown. I have just realised though that her cheek patches are the right colour and according to the lady she came from she has always been a dirty white colour so I am wondering if it is her actual feather colour? Time will tell if it moults out I guess!

How Old?
I start handling all mine twice a day while they are in the nest. Once they are fledged and eating on their own I seperate them. Mine have always been very tame using this sort of arrangement. My last lot, one went to a nine year old, one to a six year old and the last is going to a kinder. This way they are well socialised but friendly too.

Breeding
They should be fine. As long as there is nothing in there that looks like a nest box they shouldn't try to breed. If you do want to breed them you need to wait until your female is atleast a year old.

What To Wash A Budgie With?
I have been given a little female budgie that was attacked by a non parent adult while in the nest and have suffered some injuries. She is basically recovered now but as a result of the antiseptic that was put on her she has very dirty looking feathers. I would like to give her a wash but I'm not sure if there is a soap that is safe to use or whether I should just try and get it of with plain water. It's kind of greasy so not sure if just water is going to do it.

Those Who Have Bred Creminos
After much hunting I finally found an albino today at the bird sale. I want to breed creminos and have LOTS of different colours at my disposal as potential mates in the future. What did you put your albino with and what was the result? The albino is a girl, she is currently in breeding condition so I'll put her in the box on her own to quarantine and then I'll add my male once I'm ready.

Aviary Advice
I guess the problem is if that whole corner of your yard was flooded including the aviary then drainage ain't gonna make a whole lot of difference in bigger flooding like you had th other day. If you had the concrete or tiles just marginally sloping towards the front of the aviary then excess water would simply draine out through the wire. But don't slope it too much or everything will slide towards the front!

Need Help With Sexing
I agree with Rah, the one at the back with the white around the nostrils is a female. The one's with pinky coloured ceres all over are males.

My Dogs
Around here of course you won't see any dog with cropped ears and now none with docked tails eaither as this is now outlawed. So our dobes and dobe pinschers have floppy ears, if I hold her ears down so the flop she looks just like a dobe in the face. Of course if I push my mums dogs ears back she looks like a seal so it shows you what the human imagination is capable of! :hap: There are many theories as to the origin of kelpies, including dingos. They definately have a number of similiarities in the body shape. Edited because I am unco and can't type tonight!

That Type Of Budgie Is That?
It is a yellow face. As far as the wings I would suggest greywing also but it could be a spangle.

Which Ones Should I Keep?
They come from basically green stock of varying shades and they have those blue cheek patches so I would say olive..
