There are some really beautiful birds in this bunch. I love the little black stripes on some of the heads ... shows theres some babyish in them still. The COLORS ... WOW. Nice markings & all. You got some great deals there. I'll be over to pick up a few birds later. I will bring you some cricket cake ! You'll love it !

You got that right Maesie ! I am just thankful none of our birds have oposable thumbs & an interest in gameboys, nintendo, xbox, or wii ... I wouldn't have a chance against them.

The Weebil is a new bird. He steps up willingly & CALMLY !!!!!! Without my command the moment I place my hand in the cage & readily comes out to hang about the play center with his lady budgie. He has stopped screeching completely .... I haven't heard that noise for over 4 or 6 weeks now ? I cannot believe the peace & quiet it has brought to us all. No screeching noises at all .... except for the odd dang cricket chirping we hear from time to time. I have a daily hands on with both birds separately which works well. And I was surprised to find the leg band on Weebil says 2005. So he is much older then I was told, but he was so freaked & panicky to get near I couldnt read his band until now. And I doubt anyone else could for fear of him having a heart attack. He was such a disaster bird rescue. With Spring coming we put our clocks forward an hour & there is more light & oddly sunshine between the bouts of snow storms we've been having. So both birds have been playful & silly doing the budgie boogie dance & charming their ways into my heart as they always do. I am thankful that things have worked out as well as they have.

There's a product called GFE its Grape Fruit juice Extract. A lot of people use it to clean their houses as they don't want chemicals around their infants & kids. I'm sure you could find it in any health food shop. Its concentrated & you add it to water. The birds can lick anything you wash with it & it wont hurt them a bit. YUCK ... I HATE GRAPEFRUITS ... !

Fizzy's a cute little thing ... and I love the picture of Sherbet on her cactus perch ... those are the most amazing natural foraging treat perches you can use. You can slip all sorts of veggies or fruits & regular foods inside & make your budgie pick them out. Good fun for them & keeps them busy. My off topic point is ... I CAN'T FIND THOSE PERCHES anywhere in Toronto .... I've looked everywhere. So when I come to OZ to steal "oops" ... I mean buy some of your lovely birds. Can you make sure you have these type of perches handy ? I wouldn't want to disappoint your birds & take them away from what they know & love ! Hello floppingfish, I just want to tell you .... I want ATLAS ! He's/she's/it's awesome. And since you don't live far from me, I could be over to your place in 20 minutes cause I have a lead foot & drive like a demon. I will even bring CAKE ! But it would have to be on a better day ... the highways are still messed from this storm. I don't know which mound of snow my car is buried under.

Gee's Jimmy ... dontcha know that all boids stand sideways like that when they just finished eating upside down cake ? Tizzy's a beauty for sure Jen. Love the cheek patches matching her cere. She certainly looks well fed. You shouldn't worry too much about her not eating. She is prolly just adjusting to her new home. When I first got a young budgie on my own I didn't think he was drinking & couldn't find his water dish. I was feeding him water with a straw. He musta thought I was nuts & he soon had me wrapped around his little budgie fingers ! We can sure worry or panic & go to some strange lengths to make sure our new birds are getting the best care ! Don't fret. Your Tizzy looks lovely & healthy. I'm looking forward to that cake too !

Funny that you say that Elly. Saucy has her own special spot she likes to sit & he never goes near that spot. When she is on the far side of him & wants to go to her spot ... he will jump up & hang on the cage bars & allow her to pass & go to her place. He then jumps back. She doesn't peck at him or try to hurt or intimidate him to make him move ... but he moves like his life depends on it. I wonder if the hen is sending PMS Psychic signals with her beady little eyes ... " MOVE IT OR LOSE IT WEEBIL ! I AIN'T PUTTING UP WITH YOU TODAY ! "

I bet if I gave my hen quiet toys she would still be able to smash & crash them & make noise with them. She is a MAD BUDGIE ... I love watching her go nuts. I just find it so odd the Weebil doesn't play at all. He doesn't even like preening from the hen. He prefers to preen her. Strange boids ain't they ????????

Wow ... this is more & more interesting. It seems that we have some strange birds. They are either players or NOT. It's not important which sex they are as it seems either or can play or not. So ... to those who have lone budgies. Do you find your bird more attentative to its toys in its cage ? Or if its a hand tame budgie will it come out & bother you for you& your toys ... such as eye glasses or earrings, necklaces or pens or anything laying around that catches its eye ? That doesn't sound weird at all Deb ... It sounds amazing !!!!! If I had an aviary I'd have a sofa & a large patio umbrella over top of it parked smack in front of the aviary & I'd live on that sofa watching all my birds. ( while eating cake ) I would LOVE an aviary full of colorful budgies. But alas .... can't do that in Cold Miserable Toronto.

Welcome Jen ... always nice to see a new bird lover/owner join the forum. Always nice to hear someone has just gotten a NEW budgie friend & is going to engage themselves in a wonderful new experience with these amazing little birds. There is tons of information you can learn here as you go. I'm sure you will be happy with us all. But firstly & most importantly you must know that as an new member to the BBC Inc. You have to bake a cake & invite me over to consume it. I will be looking forward to this. Don't overdo it ... Nothing special. Just a lovely little Black Forest Cake will do. Gee's Deb .. that's different. Age might be a factor. But my hen is a year or more older then the Weebil. So that doesn't apply to my 2 boids. Now I'm curious to who would play more between the sexes. Hen or Cock ? I guess its also a little more difficult to see which birds in the outdoor aviarys are playing or not. You would have to sit there or stand there for a while to watch them closely. When you have birds in your house & they are next to your computer or dining table or wherever you hang out. You notice things a little more with them, like who is playing or with what etc.

If I buy these peppermint leaves & branches ... will I get free cake with them ? Goodies for the boids & gooder goodies for ME !
