There are a number of way we can help the victims of the victorian bushfires... Anyone wanting to volunteer to help in the bushfire relief effort can contact 1300 366 356. If you want to donate money to the Red Cross State Government Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund, click on the link for details. Or Phone 1800 811 700 Or go to any NAB, ANZ, Westpac or Commonwealth Bank branch The NAB has set up an account for people to donate directly to, click for details Or go to any Bunnings store Australia Post will donate $1 million to the bushfire relief fund and collect donations in more than 4000 post offices across the country. Another appeal set up is the Myer Bushfire Appeal. All proceeds will go to the Salvation Army. Donate at any Victorian Myer store. Shop at Coles supermarkets this Friday, 13th February. All proceeds going to the bush fire victims. Many people are also donating items... from clothes, toys to personal items. Although the red cross request these not be donated (due to the enormous task of distributing them), some times that is all you can offer. Not everyone can donate money. If anyone wishes to donate goods, we have a few drop off points near my place, and I'd be happy to distribute items for you. PM for details if needed.

Very true! Some excellent points. However, I'm faced with a bit of a problem! A picture will do justice. Obviously I'll need to get some rope happening, and some toys. Wednesday drawth near! Also, sidenote, the information on my left isn't correct. I'm female, not male. Any idea how to change this? All fixed... you are now 'female'... I see what you mean about the cage. Perhaps one on the left front to back, and on the right, either one side front to back centre, a rope perch bent round the side (you can get the ones with with wire in them to bend as you choose, or a swing or something??? You'd be amazed and what you can do.

... and what makes it ever harder to deal with, is that fact that some of those fires... the ones which killed many people, are suspected to be deliberately lit... how could anyone do it... makes me sick

Very cute... some cage tips if I may. Get rid of those perches you have and replace with natural branches. Gum, bottlebrush, grevilla etc... just make sure they are safe/native and clean. I'd put one each side from front to back, to encourage him to fly across the cage. Better exercise for him. He'll also love some fresh leaves too. Different thickness's of perches are great for his feet and good to chew on too.

What a pity... I have my fingers crossed for the foster eggs.

Early reports this morning... 108 dead. Still rising as they have to search through all the burnt down properties... The latest death toll, announced at 6.30am, surpasses the toll from the 1983 Ash Wednesday bushfires, in which 75 people died in Victoria and South Australia, and the Black Friday bushfires of 1939, which killed 71. At Least 750 homes destroyed.

Now 84... and Brian Nailor and his wife have died (channel 9 news) How sad...

Good luck. I hope you find the last one. I lost a young chick once (before I had a safety door) She flew into the tree above the aviary. I tried the hose trick and she just got annoyed and flew off... never to be seen again. It's a horrible feeling. Hugs xo

I am a big believer that everything happens for a reason. You will find the house for you, when the time is right.

She's adorable. I'd still put some posters up around where she was found and something in the paper. I'd hate to have lost a bird and think that someone found her and didn't try and find me.
