I Love Children's Birthdays...
My nephew is turning 4 tomorrow. Along with his presents I bought him, I decided to make/do something with balloons... I like to do something different, one year I had heaps of helium balloons from the roof, another I filled his room with normal balloons. This year, I found this kit at Spotlight to make an Octopus... to here he is: It's not exactly like the packet, and was a pain in the **** to begin with, but once I got started, it was actually quite fun. He's going to love it!!!

My Aviary....start To Finish
So true maesie but in those trees are voracious carnivores that won't think twice about snapping up Kaz's budgies. Yeah, I know... unfortunately!

Snowy Missing Her Friends?
I thought so... I know mirros are a bad thing esp. for tame birds, but could you place one outside the cage so when she hears them, she can look out and see them in the mirror??? May or may not work??? Let us know how you go.

My Aviary....start To Finish
Hugs xoxo On a side note: They are probably loving it Kaz... they love the 'small' branches you put in their aviary, they escape and find the TREE!!! It would be like a child in a lolly shop!!

Is Diarrhoea Always Bad?
It would be worth keeping an eye on... have they returned to normal? I see you mentioned about having the fan on when he is out??? I'm assuming his wings are clipped, as fans are dangerous when budgies are flying around. When his wings start to grow back, remember to watch for this, as they can sometimes get up higher/get further away than you think. I hope he feels better soon.

My Aviary....start To Finish
So sorry for your losses Kaz. Try not to beat yourself up about it (although I know it's hard). We've all done things we wish we hadn't/didn't etc... I hope you get some of them back! xoxo

Snowy Missing Her Friends?
If they were caged separatly out side, but side by side so they could see each other, can you not do that inside as well? I understand it might be an issue with space, but if it's only temporary, untill the weather is a bit better, I'd try and do that. She's probably freaked out because she can here them but not see them.

Ants
I lost a number of newly hatched chicks last year from ants... It's a hard battle to fight... I ended up concreteing my avairy, which helped... but my solutions were: * Used surface spray- for insects etc... the one you spray on and it's meant to stay active??? I sprayed it around the outside of the aviary. Make sure it's not a windy day, don't want any drift into in. * Used ant sand/dust also around the aviary/ where ants were comming from. * Tried to keep it as clean as possible. * Polenta... think thats how you spell it. Buy it from the supermarket. The ants eat it, then drink water and swell up and ka-boom!!!. I used it in the aviary, not in heaps, but spread it out into all the cracks etc... You'll probably need to try a number of things... Good luck!

Male Budgies Fighting
You don't have any nest boxes do you, or any where she may see as a good place to lay eggs??? I know this causes fights with females... so maybe males too?

I Have Added A Furry Friend (daisy)...
I found that today too... some brilliant ideas. Beats spending heaps on bought stuff... and I guess it's like kids too, they're more interested in the wrapping than the toy it's self... *** and I've decided to name her DAISY... it has stuck and I think it really suits her***

The Bushfire Victims...
Bless you luv xoxo I can only imagine what it must have been like for you and all of the others in this situation. I was watching that animal show last week, and they had stories from the fires. There was one about this poor darling ginger cat who's eyes looked like they were melted over and had horrific burns... It was so horrible and I couldn't stop crying... poor defensless animals...

I Have Added A Furry Friend (daisy)...
Thanks... she's sweet as. I used to have mice as a child/teenager. They smelt a lot more than she does, and apart from one I had, they weren't handled as youngsters and were biters... I'm surprised at how tame she is, and how happy she is about being handled... apart form being pee'd on, I love her to bits!!!

Breeding Help
It is not advisable to allow them to lay more than two clutches in a row. It's bad for their health. I'd agree with the other and remove the nest box now. I had a hen who had problems laying. She became egg bound, then ate/smashed her eggs. I remove the nest box and she laid a few off the perch and stopped. Just remember to give her a big long rest and plenty of calcium rich food.
