    Great work by all!
  2. Congratulations...
  3. Along with having his wings clipped, they may have been done to early... before he was given time to learn to fly... It's not a good decission to do it too soon.
  4. That being said, I would think befriending a lori in the wild would have much less risk, as being free the budgie can get away if needed... where as if they were 'housed' together, there is no getting away!
  5. Considering the duck in question has been taken by the vets and is no longer needing our advice, I am closing this topic. If further discussions on licenses etc... and wanted, feel free to start a topic based on that.
  6. Of course we remember and of course you passed!!! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, even then you wont need it! Great work Jenene.
  7. She shouldn't have a nest box for her budgies to 'sleep in'. They don't do that... and by having it there just encourages them to breed, which unless she wants to and is prepared, is also not a good idea... As to the lori... it is a sweetie, but may kill her budgies... they shouldn't be housed together. Tell her that, and then she may separate them, she wouldn't want it to kill her birds.
  8. Geez... What do you do... She really should surrender it to a wildlife carer... but I won't get into that as others will... As to your budgie. I'd be doing some serious quaratine when you get him back... Extend it to longer than normal, try and cover all bases and hope for the best I guess. Housing the Lori with her budgies is wrong in so many ways... not just because he may be carrying something... ... I'll leave it there...
  9. :bliss: Oh my... too funny!!! Sorry, I have no advice, just needed to laugh!!! Thanks!
  10. I'd have to agree with the others... and If I was in your situation, I'd take him myself...
  11. Well done on your great results!!! Good stuff!
  12. Try newspaper on the bottom of the cage... softer on their feet than sad mats...

So sorry for your egg losses... A rest in the aviary sounds like a good idea. I hope the second time round is more successful.
  14. Great news!!! Thanks for the update.
  15. Why do you have him inside on his own? Did you have to remove him from his parents? Do you not have a foster nest to put him in? You mention lemons babies... even though he is younger than them, it would still be worth trying him in their nestbox. It is better they are kept with their parents for warmth and food etc... If you have no other options, he needs to be kept in some sort of brooder... He needs more then a towel to keep him warm, he needs help to keep his body at a survivable temperature... He will not survive like he is...
  16. Thanks for the update!
  17. Thanks so much for posting it Libby. Very helpful... I'm glad she's doing okay now.

Hi and welcome. The more you learn before you start breeding, the better and more enjoyable your experience will be!
  19. Last weekend I picked up a friend for Daisy. She's a little bigger and older, 3 1/2 mths old, and her name is Milli. They have been living together since Thursday night, and the second picture below says a million words...
  20. Yeah... it's an awesome sound and sight!!! It's been steady here most of the morning...
  21. Hi and welcome. I look forward to seeing photos of your darling too.

Great cage... with the wood though, they will most likely try and eat it... regardless of how many distraction you put in there... they always get what you don't want them to!!! lol... Perhaps wrap it in wire if you're worried. It looks like it's inside??? If not, I'd put some sort of roof on it, to stop weather and poo from wild birds. Also, you may need to use some sort of netting to step into when getting them out, to stop escapes... If it's inside... forget everything I just said :sadsorry: Great size and it looks like your birds will be very happy!

Being a lone male, you obviously want him to associate with you, so avoid mirrors and toys with plastic budgies... Here are some sites I found: http://www.featheredpets.com/budgie_finch_...atiel_toys.html (LOOKS LIKE SOME AWESOME TOYS HERE!!!) http://www.seapets.co.uk/products/bird-sup...oys/page-1.html http://www.petspantry.tv/acatalog/bugie-toys.html Just remember with any news toys, to always watch them, and check for wear and tear, as some can become dangerious if they chew them. Also, if you're crafty, you can make your own toys... we have some great info here: DIY Toys

Hi and welcome and thanks for sharing your photos. They are definately young budgies, as they still have their stripes on the heads... and look young. As to their sex... we need front on photos without flash ( as caspersrose said). Very cute none the less!
