Out side is very different to inside. Many diseases are airborne, therefor 5 metres away outside and 5 metres away inside is very different. Inside, a different room is as good as you can do. You must keep the door closed etc... as we all know how quickly feathers get around a house. Also proper hygiene is needed. Outside 5 metres is okay... the more the better.
  3.  We were checking them out, from inside... but sadly the eye candy down here is not very sweet!!! lol.

  9. okay... so I go home for tea tonight and find out we're having a BBQ. Cool, no worries. So I head down to the study to talk to my younger sister (opposite end of the house to the patio where the BBQ is located) I then heard raised voices and Mum calling out... "Dad needs help, the BBQ is on fire" So we go running out and the gas bottle is on fire, can't turn it off as there are flames everywhere, and Dad's freaking out, Mum's freaking out and my sister and I are like 'OMG'. The smell of gas is overwhelming and there is smoke and huge flames. So we grab the fire blanket and extinguisher... try the blanket first... no luck, then the fire extinguisher... no luck. The problem is the gas is still coming out and without stopping that... the fire won't go out. So we keep the blanket on and Mum calls the fire brigade. They said we have done the right thing and to get inside to the other end of the house. Dad is out their trying to move stuff and Mum's yelling at him to get away. At this stage the FULL GAS bottle is hissing with a very high pitch and sounded like it was gonna blow! So, I run out the front to move my car in case the need to get close and I hear sirens... I run inside to hide from embarrassment... So... a fire engine come screaming up the court, light going, sirens screaming. They get here and the two blokes go out the back to where Dad is. At this stage the fire has actually gone out. They put on their gloves turn the gas off and check out what happened... meanwhile... another fire engine turned up. Now my sister and I were in the bedrooms peeking out from under the blinds in fits of laughter that two fire engines had turned up... we start having a discussion when low and behold... another one comes :hap: So... we have a small controlled fire and three fire engines. Obviously it was a quiet night in town. I get that an exploding gas bottle is a serious situation... and if it had of gone up, our house, the next door neighbours and my birds would have been toast... but at the same time it was oh so funny... The conclusion... we had a fault gas pipe-bit that connects the gas bottle to the BBQ. It had a hole in it. * side note... there will be no more BBQ's at our house in a long time!*
  10. I just found this thread... :hap: :hap: :what: :what: C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S I'm so thrilled for you. I hope you start feeling better soon and am sending you happy feminine thoughts and wishes of good health for you and bub.
  11. PRETTY!!! :hap:
  12. I would. It saves you buying another when you already have this one.
  13. No Kristy. This photo has been edited in photobucket or an editing program. It's the same photo as in Budgiegirl013's sketch post.
  14. How old is he? Younger budgies are easier, but almost any can be tamed.
  15. Everything is sounding very similar to me... Lets hope I get the same relief as you have. I'm booked in for 5pm tonight. Bring it on
  16. Hand Feeding/raising is not a good idea, especially if you don't know what you are doing. You need to be consistent, patient, and follow through with what you are doing. Some budgies take longer then others. There is plenty of information in the FAQ's. Elly has written up some great stuff in there too. My suggestion would be to continue with one budgie (Storm if you still have him) and take it slow, work with him daily (several times for short periods), and don't give up. It will happen, just not over night.

I don't totally agree with THIS! I believe this mind set to be very irresponsible, You are putting your whole flocks health at risk. It doesn't take much for an outbreak of any kind and you have lost the lot. Although I don't speak from experience (touch wood) Many members on here have had such issues. Keeping a clean environment may help in keeping illness' away but does not mean quarantine and alike are not needed. You may have not lost any birds yet... but it doesn't mean you wont. And do you sell your birds? What happens if the birds you sell are carrying something and then the buyers flock are infected. How would you feel about that? This is purely my opinion... each to their own I suppose, But I like many others on her DO QUARINTINE!
  18. Great news there were no eggs. Sometimes it can just seem like they are going to...
  19. Thanks so much!!! It's great to hear from others. I don't take folic acid, but it's levels are a little low, as is my vitamin D... but iron was surprisingly okay? She's doing more tests to see if it is Pernicious Anemia... so I guess time will tell. Along with feeling very tired, I've been unable to eat much at all.. which doesn't help when I need certain vitamins etc..., also issues with sleeping, memory, concentration... I could go on... It sounds like this could be a good thing for me. Vitamin D is from the sun also isn't it? Some people also have trouble absorbing this also. If you are absorbing it o.k. then a few minutes every now and then in the sunlight will top you up. YES!!! I need more sunlight

Is Peach okay? Has a dirty bottom and doesn't look 100% to me (might be just me though) Nice birds though... Thanks for sharing
  22. Hugs mate... so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you during this hard time
  23. My mum, grandpa and two aunties have one injection a month to 6 weeks and my mum notices the change the next day (haven't asked the rest. There is a history in my family of vitamin b 12 not absorbing as it does in regular people. The injection hardly hurts and will make you feel sooooooo much better! Good luck Thanks Trish. Fingers crossed. I'm not fussed about the injection, more so about everything else. It's nice to know I should notice changes soonish.
  24. I have been feeling very tired, amongst other symptoms. I have been to the doctors and had some blood test done. My levels of some vitamins etc... are a little low, but mainly it's my vitamin B12. I think the levels are mean to be between 200 and 600 picogram/milliliter... and mine was 111. I have had to have another blood test to see if it's just dietary, if something in my body is stopping me absorbing it, or something else. I've been reading up on it and a lot of my symptoms seem to make sense. I have to have a Vitamin B12 injection tomorrow. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had them, how quick do you notice any changes, and is it long lasting. I think you get them monthly to get your levels up, and then three monthly (if i have a problem absorbing it). Any advice is greatly appreciated...
