  1. Awww mate... Hugs  It's not nice to judge people... for what ever reason! I look forward to some photos of your new feathered beauties. EDIT: I just saw your other post... they are just devinne!!! Thanks for sharing :rip:
  2. It's up to you... if it was me, I'd wash my hand, and then move the chick and eggs, fill one half, move them over and fill the other half. Just don't move the eggs too much. Others aren't keen on touching eggs but I have done before and not had problems. As to the air in the crop... it's not good. Sometimes they can right themselves... other times they need assistance. You are meant to make sure the head and neck are in line and GENTLY massage it to try and get the air out. I have never done it before so can't help you there. You have to be really careful though. The problem is that it may not be getting enough food as the crop is full of air. I would suggest you monitor it until someone else with more experience can help out.
  3. Congratulations on the arrival. I'm not sure if you had any nesting material in the nest box before, but I suggest you add some now. I use wood shavings. The mother tends to leave it in their now as she's busy with bubs. It will make cleaning the next box 100 times easier as bubs poo a lot. Don't worry about the bub laying on it's back... normal. The large bulge in it's neck is it's crop. It should have a yellow substance in it- crop milk produced by Mum. From the look of those photos (hard to see) it looks like it's full of air??? Some bubs take in air when trying to get the hang of feeding from Mum. Can you check if it is air or milk? Make sure you are offering Mum and Dad fresh soft food daily. Mine were never big fans of it but wolfed it down when they had chicks to raise. I used hard boiled eggs and a mix of veggies- carrot, corn, peas, etc... and finely chopped/mixed it all up... egg shell and all. This will help her feed too.

From what I understand: the ratings you give don't come out of yours you can check any one's ratings (including yours) by searching members and type in a name/letter ratings can't go backwards ratings build up over time as people give you votes- you wont get an instant 5 star rating just because one person clicks on the 5th star (unless you already have lots of votes) what's the point of them??? It was probably meant for people to vote for people when they are helpful etc... so if you look up the members you can see who is the most helpful, experienced and/or popular. It doesn't really work that way though, as most people either don't know they exist or how to use it...
  5. lol... it is so confusing, I agree. Yes. It's my sisters husband (my brother in law)... HIS sister. I googled it and we are no relation at all...
  6. Thanks all I'll pass them all on. I'm not sure... wouldn't it only be my sister in law if I had a brother and he got married??? Because... isn't she like one step back from sister in law???

You can't go backwards. Once you get a 5 star rating you don't loose it (As far as I know)
  8. Thanks guys... I'm not actually an auntie... It's my brother in laws sister who has had the baby... but thanks anyway... Everything is good at the moment and I'm sure it will stay that way!
  9. As many of you remember, My brother in law's sister and her husband lost their 5 month of son to SIDS in February last year. (Original topic). They became pregnant again and she has just had the baby. OSCAR... another beautiful son. Everything is good with mother and child. I would just like to ask for everyone's thoughts, wishes and prayers that this new son is healthy, and grows up to be a strong and loving member of their family. I have faith that this will be the case, and they deserve it so much... Thanks all. (On a side note, if you are reading the original topic for the first time. My grandpa did make it through the surgery and many more months, but died on the 21st September... Grandpa's topic)
  10. Awesome news about Dave. I hope he continues to improve. Hugs from me xoxo

Hi and welcome. You've been given great advice already. I'll just add my two bobs worth. If you still have doubts about giving them the care they need... you need to decide now. Either take them back (with a parent present) and explain you know what's wrong with them etc... and swap them or get your money back, or decide to keep them and work with what you have. You can't wait too long though or they wont take them back. It's very wrong if they willingly sold you these birds . Anyway... good luck with them and if you decide to keep them, just do as the others have said and I'm sure they be quite happy.
  12. I think it would be best to get your Tiel tested for Psittacosis first before you worry about having it yourself. I haven't had experience with it in birds or humans, but have heard it is not fun. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
  13. Teresa... as in MOTHER TERESA
  14. Agree with Elly... to quick. You need to work slowly and at her pace... you'll know when she's ready to move to the next step. If you push her to fast and far... she won't work with you, and you'll get no where. This may have been your problem in the past. You must realise... some birds can take weeks and some can take many months... each one is very different and you need to be patient with her.
  15. Thanks for sharing your wonder photos. Great as usual. Hugs to you and remember it does get eaiser over time... and that I'm thinking of you. Hugs xoxo
  16. Yeah... wasn't sure Kaz... Thanks for that information. I knew there was no such thing as a 'warranty' as such...
  17. It seems to be a topic of discussion at the moment. READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY!

Hi and welcome to the site. You'll love it here. Just a tip with the mirror. If you want Angel to bond with you, I'd get rid of the mirror. They can tend to 'bond' to their friend in the mirror instead of you. Without it I'm sure he'll be your best friend in no time. Good luck and I look forward to seeing him/her.
  19. You'd have to have an agreement with who ever you bought the bird off to get your money back, and this would have to made before you buy them. Not sure if it happens much??? Quarantine cages are kept away from ALL OTHER BUDGIES... so no where need original birds, breeding birds or chicks!
  20. Awww, Trish. Look at that improvement! Amazing thus far. I think you can re-dose them two weeks after the initial treatment (correct me if I'm wrong anyone), which should knock it on its head well and good.. I can only imagine how much better they must be feeling.
  21. Thanks for the update... they are looking great. I'm glad they are doing so well. Keep those photos coming!
  22. I look forward to it and the photos!
  23. I'm South West of Melbourne, but agree... Stock feed type places are the best. I buy my seed from one and the can bag up what you want. Good luck on your search.

Out side is very different to inside. Many diseases are airborne, therefor 5 metres away outside and 5 metres away inside is very different. Inside, a different room is as good as you can do. You must keep the door closed etc... as we all know how quickly feathers get around a house. Also proper hygiene is needed. Outside 5 metres is okay... the more the better. Humph!! You need a degree to own these birds!! Luckily mine are in different rooms, well over 5m apart, but there is only a door seperating them, which is often opened. Some people are more careful than others... and most of it is common sense and a bit of knowledge... which you can find here :yuck: . I'd rather be careful than heart broken!
  25. I'm sure they'll all enjoy a good rest in the aviary once the chicks are grown up.
