Crackle's Not Herself...
Thanks all. Yeah Daz, the meds are for 10 days so they'll definately be having the whole course!!! I've also gotta call them next week so I'll be sure to ask them about mega. Thanks for that. Thanks lonebudgie. I'm a neat/clean freak when it comes to my animals (pity not about my room ) so with them being unwell, the avairy is beyond spotless! As to the biting and bandaids... I'd be happy to halvies in the bandaid company, we could even have bird pics on the and call them birdaids :(Laughing out loud): . You did well medicating 80 birds and I bet you have the crop feeding down pat! Pity about the one you lost though. I'm definately going to learn about it though. It does sound like it would be very helpfull.

Talking Budgie?
Hi Tam (and Andrew), All of the behaviours you describe are NORMAL!!! Your little ones are just getting used to you. Every budgie is different, some can adjust to you like butter to toast, others can take weeks or months! Patience and persistance is the key! Whatever your training plan is, do it every day!!!! When you're not doing it, talk to them until you go blue in the face . This doesn't have to be just trying to teach them to talk, it could be about your day etc... Spend as much time with them as possible and they WILL get used to you. I know it must be hard at time, but both of your little ones will get there, and when they do, all that time and effect will be worth it

Crackle's Not Herself...
So, an update on the girls... Their meds seem to be helping a little and their poos are slightly more normal. I was a little worried as it didn't seem like they were eating. I bought a seed block from the supermarket (they occassionally get them in the avairy). They took to it like ducks to water. So, I'm not so worried about that now, and even though it's not really healthy, I don't mind. I am keeping a close eye on my other two girls and two boys, and I noticed they seem to be also showing early signs as well. No pooy bums yet, but swollen guts... So, I called the vets and they are now also being treated with the same meds. I'd rather be doing them all at the same time than getting my girls better and then having to treat the others. The remaining birds are staying in the avairy which does add to the time it takes me to catch and treat them all (no more sleeping in in the mornings!!! 6am it is), and most times I come out with a different finger bleeding, but I'm getting there and they are all getting the treatment they need. The girls definately bite much harder, and the boys (esp Tweet Tweet) carries on like I'm trying to kill him, but he's the most docile of the lot in regards to biting/moving... Go figure! But, all in all, things are hopefully on the up and I'll keep you all informed.

Trichomoniasis
 I'm so sorry for baby's passing. She is now in peace :angel1: Best of luck and love to you and Sunny! I agree about them being sick. If only they didn't leave it so late more of them might make it... I do however understand why they do it, as they would be attacked in the wild if they show signs of weakness.

Talking Budgie?
Yeah for you!!! Sounds like he will be a fast learner. Even if he did keep flying away, it meant you had to pick him up more, and because it was to help him, I think he knows your hands are "GOOD"... So pleased for you. As to the not biting, I find my girls bite more and MUCH harder than my boys, but I'm not sure if that's just mine or all boys/girls???

Weird Looking Feathers....
That was my guess too Libby, but really hard to be sure without pics!

Trichomoniasis
Oh... I'm so sorry for your news. Poor Baby. I hope she pulls through. I've had the quality of life talk with many vets, and It's always hard. I do however, believe you know what is the best thing to do for your animals, even when it can be very painfull for you to cope with. I had to make the hard decision late last year with one of my budgies. Mort, who was the Mum of my two clutches, was unwell. Her cere had changed from brown to blue, she wasn't eating etc... After an exam and some tests it was found it was most likey an ovarian tumour. I had the option of doing more extensive tests, but after a long consultation, we decided that the extra stress would not be worth it and the best decision for her was to go to sleep. It was very hard, but in the end, she was in peace and could be laid to rest with her 'hubby'. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for baby, and I wish you luck in what ever may happen ((((HUGS))))) of strength to you xxx

Talking Budgie?
Exciting time for you both. All budgies talk at different rates, some sooner than others. Keep talking to him, and maybe pick a word or phrase you'd like him to learn, perhaps his name? Then, when you talk to him, try and repeat it as much as possible. Good Luck. I'm also excited about your handling ideas... he'll get used to you in no time, and I'd go with Liv's idea. I haven't personally tried it but have heard it works... just stay relaxed! :(Laughing out loud): Good Luck and have fun :(Laughing out loud):

Not Sure If Hen Is About To Lay Or Sick
Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us and I'm especially glad you saved Rodger and Sunny. They sound divine! Breeding can be a scary experience. Try to relax and let them do their stuuf. If they're going to be good parents, all you'll have to do is clean out the nest box... they'll do the rest. There are things that can go wrong, as there are with most experiences in life, but worrying about what may or may not happen wont help you or your budgies. We would never yell at you or be cross because of your situation. You were not to know, and we all learn from our pasts. I'm glad you are able to be honest and ask for advice, instead of battling along on your own. Their diets sounds delish . Lucky birds!!! Be prepared for many long waits... waiting for the eggs to be laid, wating for them to hatch, waiting to see how many make it, waiting to see what colour they'll be when they feather up, waiting to see if they're male or female, waiting for them to fledge and waiting for them to eat on their own... A long process, but very exciting and worth all the waits! Best of luck to you, Rodger and Sunny! Keep us updated.
