Thought This Would Be Interested
Great topic Elly!!! How: I did a google search nearly 5mths ago and found a number of forums (this was by far the best with regular members, posts, and replies) Why: I had owned budgies for a few years and had successfully had a 'couple' raise two clutches. These chicks were now breeding and a few issues arose. I was also keen on learning more about budgies, and improving the care I was giving mine. (you can always improve!) Now: I feel like a have a second family. I have learnt so much and enjoy building on this, helping others and chatting with my new friends and new members (from around the corner, accross the country and the other side of the world). Who do I have now? When I started on here I had 6 bugies and still do (trying to convice my family on letting me get some more!!!) They are Crackle, John, Paul, George, Ringo and Tweet Tweet. I also now have two cockatiels Bert and Ernie.

Pooy Vent
mmm that's a tough one. I guess if he was feed lots of greens before you got him and his poo stuck to his bum feathers and they stained them... it would be there untill the next moult or he cleaned it off (if it will come off). A bit like carrot on the face... but at the other end :nest:

Punter Is Sick
They're sneaky aren't they?!?! If only they realised that pretending they aren't sick is actually not helping them at all. I hope Punter feels better soon and can go back with his friends.

Thanks Jenene... and they were VERY happy to be back home. There was a lot of feather re-alinment going on and removal of fellow birds germs

What Is This Seed
We used to have one of those places around the corner of me too. You'd go in and get a scoop of this, and a scoop of that etc.. and make up your own seed. We used to buy our rabbit mix like that too. Unfortunately it's long gone.

Budgiebird Hilton .....daily Life In My Aviaries Part 3
Oh, poor darling... Do you think she does it to get the eggs against her skin for more warmth, or does she use the feathers she plucks to give the eggs warmth as well as from her? At least it gets better when she's not nesting.

What Is This Seed
A little ... the use of these fillers and being 'ripped off' reminds me of when you buy a packet of chips/crisps and after you open it and release the air... it's only half full!!!

All My Birds
I'd be inclined to say Dottie was born early-ish in 2007(It doesn't show month). You're also prob right about the flightyness. She might have grown up in an aviary/cage with no human contact. You'll prob find her harder to tame, but with time and patience, anything is possible.

The Hen Who Had A Headache...
Must have been horrible! Things have settles down. I think them being in the small cage made him go a little stir crazy . They seem happy to preen and feed and stop at that. I'll be watching them like a hawk and have some 'stand by' plans for when I go to Bali if need be. Thanks for all your advice and warnings... and I have decided NOT to put a mirror in the aviary...

Painted Birds
