  1. So sorry Dave. Punter (the little Ausi captain)
  2. Brilliant!!! You are a massive asset to this forum. The descriptions are great and the pictures simply make it that much eaiser to understand. Great job...
  3. Awwwwww
  4. ... interested??? :hap: Thanks everyone for your comments. I'll try and answer some of the questions if I can... I unfortunately did not make the little furniture. I bought it off a website in Melb. Very well priced and great value. I sanded them and varnished them though. I would have made them if I had the tools, but our shed is only small and only has limited equiptment. It took me 5 mths to make (inbetween working and my birds). I built it all out of pine (which put the cost up massivly), but I wanted to stain it. It could be made out of cheaper wood and painted. I loved furnishing it... definately my favorite part... I think it cost me over $200 all up. I just couldn't help myself... had to add tiles to the bathroom floor, carpet, lino, curtains, pictures, tool bench in garage, kitchen benches to go with the kitchen appliances, dog, dog bowl and basket, towles on a towel rack in the bathroom, etc... I could go on! I also went looking for Doll's houses to get idea's but couldn't find anything half decent. I also thought of turning a bookshelf into in, but couldn't find the exact size I needed... so I started from scratch. I'm really looking forward to when she plays with it as I can't wait to join in!!! We took it around and set it up as planned (everything has it's place and MUST go there... the family has 'their' own beds(shoes and all (Laughing out loud))... things need to go in there spot!!!)... well as soon as Lucy's big brother saw it, he stated playing with it and moving furnature and family around. I was like... grrrr, that's not where it goes... (Laughing out loud)... But, I'm glad you all like it. I love having a project o the go. Lucy is turning 1 in June and for James' first birthday I made him a teddy bear, so I'll be making her one as well... but I'm also keen to get another wood working project up and running. I'm also VERY impressed with everyone's talents here... I bet every one has something they can do... draw, paint, sew, cook, any craft, cars etc... I love our diversity YAH for our 'family'... we rock!
  5. Good stuff! I don't like having my photo taken either, but I'm sure shots will be great!!! Can't wait for the mag to come out too!
  6. Oh no... I'm sorry about your near miss. Birds and Dogs/Cats never mix! Just watch him very closly. I don't mean to scare you but sometimes they can look okay and then suddenly go down hill very quickly when the shock sets in and/or other unseen injuries present themselves. Do you have a near by avian vet? Perhaps look one up just in case (for now and in the future). Good luck, I hope he is okay, and please keep us updated.

A big hi there and hello to you, Felix, Lotta, Louis and Lila. I hope you feel very welcome here and learn a lot. Feel free to ask anything and check out our FAQ's for loads of usefull info. 8. Hi just wanted to bring up this P.S IS THAT LETTUCE OR CABAGE IN THEIR CAGE?? I gather lettuce is no good? Lettuce has no nutrional value at all. It's made up mainly of water and often give birds(and other animals) the runs. Better greens include boc choy and silverbeet
  9. Where is mine?!?!

Hi Lea. Welcome. I see this is your first post. You're welcome to introduce yourself and your bird/s in the my flock section of the forum. Just start a new topic and that way we all get to meet you! Maesie Nice to see you've made yourself at home Jimmy!!!
  11. Doesn't sound good... a trip to the avian vet perhaps?
  12. More great shots Dave... the size difference is just amazing. A few days makes a big difference.
  13. WOW... what an awsome birthday present! Congratulations on the new aviary
  14. :budgiedance: Whoooooooooo Hooooooooo. Congrats for your first hatched Gran... (Laughing out loud)
  15. I am loving seeing everyone's artist talents. Unlike some members on here, I can't draw very well and painting pictures isn't really my thing, but I do like to make Teddy Bear and soft toys (esp. for my niece and nephew). I also enjoy building things, like my aviary, furnature and alike. For my nephews christening, I built him a toy box. (don't have any photos but you can take my word for it, it was fab). So, when my niece (who is also my God daughter) was christened, I built her a Doll's house. Here are some pics of it: The outside of Lucy's Doll's house The inside... Starting from the top... the parents room. Lounge room The kids room Kitchen/Dining Kitchen (notice the frying pan on the stove re. budgie omlette thread :budgiedance: ) Dining (notice puppy in the corner) Bathroom Garage I hope you like it. My family did, and I'm sure Lucy will and get lots of use out of it when she's a bit bigger (she turns 1 in June)...
  16. I love making toys!!! I have gotton some things from Spotlight: Pony Beads (plastic beads), raffia, mini patty cake/muffin paper cups, undyed paddle pop sticks... I also have a great supply of timber in the shed, which is all untreated pine. You can use blocks and drill holes in them for the birds to chew, or use poles to make perch toys or swings. I have also bought a lot of supplies from My Parrot Shop. They are fantastic. Their service is great, fast delivery and great customer service. You can buy the 'toy' like this: Or you can buy the supplies to make that... like the bell, chain and plastic 'dumbies'. I have found the budgies love to shred my paper toys and are not so interested in the others, whereas the tiels are more into beads etc than shreder toys. To make my toys I either use undied cotton or leather rope. Just remember when making any toy, look at it as if you were a bird... is there anything they can get caught in or stuck under etc... and when you give them to them, all check them often for wear and tear and remove if needed. And lastly.... HAVE FUN!!!
  17. ((((hugs))))) Liv on what must have been a very hard decission.

  21. You did your best... I'm sorry he passed
  22. Latte is cute as. I'm sure they'll get along really well too. I can't wait to watch their journey.
  23. I'm not a car person... but NICE!!!
  24. Hey Norm. I was reading how you said when you were little you burried you birds when they died... do you still do that now or dispose of them another way. I bury mine when they die, but I don't have that many. We have a pet cemetry behind the shed where all our pets are... rabbis, mice, guinea pigs, lizards and birds... I guess I was wondering because with the amount of birds many show breeders have, you'd run out of spots... Sorry if this question is a bit 'off', just my curiosity...
