  10. Mine do that too!!! He looks fine from what I can see. What a handsome little man. From what you've mentioned in the other post as to what he is being feed, you are doing all the right things...just add those hulled oats as Kaz said. It must be such a relief for you.
  11. Well, this is it. We leave tomorrow morning, so I wont be on for two weeks after that. I packed last night, today I cleaned out the Lizards and Birds cages, all have clean, fresh water, fresh full to the brim seed/food and the birds got some seed blocks (which they only get on very rare occasions). They also got fresh corn and bok choy, cuttlefish and some sunflower seeds (lucky kids) I typed out Dad's to do list for all the animals which I'll run through with him tonight... That's all for now... I hope everyone's breeding, health and general wellbeing of their birds goes/is well. Look after yourselves and be good :hap:

Good stuff Liv... I'm sure both were very happy!!!
  13. Geo... cute name with soooo much meaning! Great choice.
  14. Welcome... it's also done by a hen wanting to nest again, and she wants the little one out of the road!
  15. I would suggest that you give this breeder this site information so he can join himself. That way he is getting first hand information. This will also able him to get info when he needs it in case of emergencies... and not a few days after when you can get back to him. I am also not a fan of colony breeding and believe the 'couple' should have their own space to breed and bring up their own family away from others.
  16. Great news!!! Pics????
  17. That is great news about Piper. You are a gem for looking after her and catering for her 'new' needs. Bless you! She sounds like she is doing very well and you are looking out for her and what she needs. A big forum CLAP for you and a gold star for your wall!!!

Yep, great advice by Dave... Don't worry at all. If she's used to having you or noise around, maybe leave a radio on, and is she's used to be covered up at night, maybe half cover her? Up to you, but I think she'll be fine.
  19. Tell them it's chicken... everything tastes like chicken
  20. Sneaky traveller!!!! ... Can't wait for pics.
  21. I hope they manage to look after the others when they arrive, and good luck with this little one!
  22. Thanks so much Deb. He is doing okay and they plan to send him home in the next day or to, so he must be fine... I'll miss this place too and I know I'll have HEAPS of posts to catch up on when I return, but I'm really looking forward to getting away from everything and ALL my responsibilities.
  23. BREATHING now... thanks Julie!!! I knew I forgot something (Laughing out loud). No room for you Lonebudgie... sorry Maybe next time??? Great tips Feathers, I never thought of the power board thing. We would have got over there and had to buy one! Cheers xxx So...... I had the last of my shots last night... Hep B and A, and a Flu shot. My arms is a little sore, but I'd rather that than being unwell. I had a hair appointment tonight, and have nicely cut and colour hair. I've photocopied and done all my paper work. Just have to write out the animal care sheets. Havn't done any more packing... grrrrrr. It's so hard to do, esp as I don't want to take too much! Um... I only have... wait for it.... 5 HOURS of work left!!!!!!! and we leave in just over two days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whoo hoooooooo.
  24. I agree with Liv. A hen under 1 year old SHOULD NOT be breeding! She should not have access to breeding boxes or anything similar. The hen who has laid 3 clutches in 3 months, this is also not good. You should only let them lay two clutches in a row... no more. This is bad for their health. I'm not sure why she's not sitting on them. Is she is breeding condition? Maybe she just doesn't want to have young? Just because she mated and layed eggs, doesn't mean she'll hatch them... I'd also agree with Liv on removing the nest boxes... atleast until the young hen is old enough. In the mean time, feed them plenty of greens and add some liquid calcium to their seed/water. This will help them BOTH get over their recent breeding situation. Good luck and please keep us updated.
  25. Looking good Daz... and thanks for the explanation!!!
