Best Type Of Perching
No worries :hap: . I'm sure it would also help with their feet for exercise etc... but it's mainly for the mating. I learnt it from the wise members here too!!!

Best Type Of Perching
No... the SQUARE perches in Breeding cages are to assist is the mating. They provide better grip for the hen, and when the cock is on top of her it can sometimes be hard for her to hold on and stay on the perch. Square perches help greatly with this :hap: ... better grip= eaiser mating=better success rate= very :hap: breeders!!!

You will find if you do a search in the FAQ's it has links to lists of safe and unsafe plants etc... This will help you, as will most of the information in the FAQ's. I find them to be very usefull and I refer to the information on a regular basis.

Exciting News
Not 100% sure. I havn't looked into buying or houses. Check it out though... It's a nice place to live and not far from Melb. We have a pretty decent mix of suburbs. You have your good ones... Highton, Newtown, Drumcondra, Leopold (just to name a few) you have your middle of the road ones, and then you have the ones you would get paid to live in but I guess all areas have those!

Exciting News
Yep. I work full time in a small family business as a bookbinder. We bind albums, papers etc... but our main job is making Wedding albums. We make them from scratch... from gluing paper together, leather covers etc... it's definately an art and I love it. I've gone through the costs involved and based on my current wage I'm sure I'll be fine. I guess it's something I'll figure out when I'm out. It will be a matter of doing the sums and figuring out how much I need to put away each week. But the overall picture looks good. I've heard Melb is expensive. There are many suburbs like that in Geelong to. It's a matter of not going to expensive or to cheap.

Zincalume Sheets For Aviary And C-channel
Sorry to hear you have been unwell. My prayers and big hugs are being sent your way! xoxoxo You aviary is looking fantastic, and it's all so very exciting. I love the updated photos too. It's going to be a massive masterpiece when it's done. Yah for you. As to the uneveness, I wouldn't be too concerned. I recently concreted my aviary and the uneveness had to be seen to be believed lol!!! But the birds didn't seem to mind.

Mixed Avairy
Thanks all... well they're actually having a sleep over tonight! I had to leave work early today for an appointment, and when I got home I opened the divider and they had a play... well, sat near each other lol . When I went back down later to try and heard the tiels back to their side, I decided to leave it open. I'm about to check on them now, just gotta find the torch. All seems fine though. Just checked... they're all sleeping on the same side. A tiel and a Budgie on the hanging rod, and three budgies and a tiel on the perch. All seem like happy campers thus far

Mixed Avairy
Thanks Liv. I agree on the bossiness. I think they'll be fine, esp in the new one. I think I'll keep doing the whole 'play days' for a little while, and then bight the bullet when it's time. If I decide to introduce them full time before I move, I think I'll re-arrange the whole avairy, just so nothing is familar to them and they can't claim 'their' spots! lol. Cheers mate

Mixed Avairy
As I'm moving out soon (hopfully), I'm not going to have a lot of room for my avairy. I plan to buy a new one, and with this limited space, the tiels and budgies will be living together. Currently they are separated but quite often when I'm home I hope the divider and they have a play together. They haven't had a sleep over yet lol. When they go near each other, I've only noticed Bert (female tiel) lunge and hiss at the budgies, but she does that to me to. I'm just wondering what to expect (based on your experiences) etc... There doesn't seem to be any major anger yet, and I'm hoping when they 'live' together in the new avairy, neither of them will 'own' it yet, whereas now, they each have their 'own' things. I'm hoping the avairy wil be quite large... any idea what the minimum would be for 6-10 budgies and 2 tiels? Any ideas and advice would be great. I know it's not ideal, but sometimes that's just the way life goes... cheers all.

Love Is In The Air
I've finally paired up Tweet Tweet (who from now on in I'll call TT as I can't be bothered writing Tweet Tweet all the time ) and Crackle. Below: They paired up as soon as he got into the avairy. They did have some eggs last year, but she deserted them. It may have been because she could see all of the others breeding and non breeding, I may have bothered her too much, or he may not have fertilised her before she laid them. Either way, nothing came of them. So, they're in the breeding box. The first night the sat their like rabbits caught in headlights. They've always being in a large avairy. Second day, they seem quite happy. Neither of them are pacing up and down wanting to get out, which is great. Crackle has now been into the nest box and cleared out some of the wood shavings. Whenever she sees me she sits on the perch comming out of the box and TT sits near her. Also, when she goes in, he sits next to the door. Very cute. They seem to know what to do and what they are in their for. I also trimmed both of their vents. He was very 'feathery' lol. Here's hoping his swimmers get through and some eggs, when laid are fertile. That's all for now. Stay tuned for regular updates with hopefully a good outcome!

Exciting News
Hi all... I have some exciting news. Whilst on my Bali holiday (yes I know, you're all waiting for the write up and pics... they ARE comming), I made a few decisions about my life etc. Very deep. . I'm currently single and have decided that that is okay with me. I love being alone, love my time and don't mind living alone (as long as I have my animals of course). I also decided that I'm finally moving out of the family home (to my parents utter relief) I'm currently on the hunt for a unit/flat. It is going to be tough as I have quite a few restrictions/needs... two bedrooms, backyard (big enough for my avairy), must allow pets and resonaby cheap!!! I have found one that I'm hoping to look at when they have an inspection time. It sounds pretty good... but... the bathroom and laundry is combined (not that that is really an issue as it's only me living there), and it looks pretty old, BUT I'm pretty good at being creative, and so what if it's kinda ugly lol... My hotness will pretty the place up in no time!!! I just can't be too fussy with what I NEED. So yeah... I'm really excited and hope I can find something suitable. Yeah for me!!! Please feel free to send all of your good luck wishes etc to me so I find the place I want Thanks in advance lol...

Paint Fumes
How inconsiderant of your neighbour!!! (shakes head lol.). What a pain for you. I'm glad you got them safely inside. Perhaps have the newest one (the ones you're concerned about) furtherest away from Tweety and Runt. And just remember all the usual rules... hand washing etc... AND I hope he finishes his boat soon! Maesie xoxo
