How cute Deb and I'm glad they are doing well. As to Roxanne, I hope she contines to improve and makes it through. I'm sure she'd make a great inside budgie. Keep up the good work and I can't wait for more updates.

The Clutch Of Winter '08
Thanks Elly. They are doing really well. You forget how much Mum and Dad eat when they have five growing babies to feed. Mum is spending more time out of the nest box now as there isn't much room left for her, but the bubs seem to be doing a great job at keeping each other warm. It's going to be hard to pick the lucky two that will 'hopefully' live with me at the flat...

Winds In Melboure
Yeah... ours down here are crazy to. I went out earlier and did my best to prepare. The aviary and breeding crew will be fine, and most of our outdoor furnature shouldn't go anywhere. I guess I'll see in the morning! Your birds do look cosy, but atleast they'll be safe. Good luck!

Noooooooo....
Oh no.... how upsetting. Biggest ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))) to you MB. I'm sure you've cared for many sick birds. I hope they pull through. An avian vet check up in the morning I'd say... Good luck and Ihope they make it. Please keep us updated.

The Clutch Of Winter '08
Thanks all... remind me what that is again... I'm hopeless with all of that, and colours too. No matter how much I read, it just doesn't seem to sink in. Is opaline when the colour of the feathers can be seen in their wings... as in chick one? Another question... if they were going to be green like their daddy, would I see that yet, or are the first two more likely to be yellow? I've never had a yellow budgies before! lol I'm really enjoying this clutch as it's my first one here with all my friends and new found knowledge. All the chicks are doing well, and the first one is a sweetie. He/she is starting to waddle around on my hand and will sort of jump back into the nest box while sort of flapping its wings. Very cute! (just going off now to type opaline into the search function )

The Clutch Of Winter '08
More photos friends... First is a group shot, then chicks in order of age... 13, 11, 9, 8 and 7! I'm very excited, as I can see some yellow on the head and tail of the first two chicks... Not that I know what that means... but it's never happened before, so it's all good!!!!!

Sparrow Problem
I have had a similar problem a few times. They used to get into my bird room. I'm not sure how but since I re-did it, they haven't gotten in... Get inside the aviary and see if there is any where they could have gotten in... corners, wire a little to large, where the roof meets the walls... any gaps at all?!?! As to the germ issue, you could do a massive clean out, perches, walls, etc... just to be on the safe side.

Help Please
Maybe take the sick little one away and try to raise it yourself... especially if the hen is not feeding it anyway. This would also give her less chicks to look after if she decides to feed them full term again. I hope things will turn out for this clutch. Don't be too hard on yourself, things happen and we learn. I'm sure your husband will do a good job with them, as he helped last time. Please keep us updated and have a great weekend away!

Sky's Vent
Thanks I think i will just have to give her time and hope she comes through. I mean, I could run the test which may not work due to the meds she is already on, I could take her off the meds to get her sick so that the test would work... argh i think not! Or I could just give her the meds and hope for the best which is what I think I will have to do. It's something you'll have to decide on your own, but I'd probably do that. She has been through sooooooo much, and hopefully time will heal all wounds! More tests, poking and jabbing... she can probably do without for now.
