You make me laugh!!! Me... I make a cup of coffee, grab a snack... chocolate, popcorn, biscuits, chips (anything unhealthy). Then, I park my rear on the couch, feet up, laptop on lap. Turn on the TV, have another internet window open to browse (I am very multi talented ) and get set for a comfy night in...
  2. Benny is so cute! I'm glad you are able to drop in and say Hi... I miss you! I'm sure your birds will be fine with the hot weather. A spray with water is sure to calm them down... not much else you can do. They seem to manage okay when they have to.
  3. Awsome Dave. I'm also not keen on bait. I don't like the fact that they eat it and then go away and die... then you have to go searching for that SMELL!!! . It sounds like those traps are great... especially because of the instant death. What do you use as bait? I've used peanut butter in the past and it seems to work really well. I look forward to the mouse count!!!
  4. Hi and welcome. I look forward to getting to know you both and it's great your wife has such a special relationship with him.
  5. Great stuff!!! A kid who get up that early and has even offered to help paint... we have a winner. He sounds like a great kid and I hope he continues to show interest...

  7. Too cute!
  8. How exciting!!! Simply CAN'T wait for pictures!
  9. AWSOME!!!!! It is comming along so quickly but I bet you are exhaused! Good job
  10. I've done it to. As I don't have heaps of birds, food goes off really quickly. I found it great to be able to make up a whole lot and freeze in ice cube trays. To defrost I put them in a bowl of warm water. I used to do lentils as well, and they'd get a mix of them and veggies. Lettuce doesn't unfreeze well, but I think it's mainly the watery one which shouldn't be fed to them anyway.
  11. Very nice birds and bless your heart for taking them in. I'm sure they'll have a great life with you and your flock!

Georgous girl!!! and great photos as usual
  13. Thanks everyone. The new place is great and I'm starting to feel like its 'home'. I cooked myself a great dinner tonight... roasted chicken breast, roasted potatoes, steamed veggies and gravy... mmm . I then moved some furnature around and am loving it. My boys (lizards) are now in the lounge room with me (I felt they were being neglected in the cold back room). The birds who I continually move around are back in the entrance hall (was sick of vacuuming everywhere!!!) The lounge is right next to it and I have the doors open so the heat goes into there to, and from where I'm sitting on the couch, I can see them (although they're covered for bed) and my boys too. I've missed you all soooooo much. You forget how much you rely on something until it's not there. My 'lovely bunch of opalines' are going really well. They are starting to venture out a little and poke their little heads out of the nesting box hole. Very cute. I tried to get some photos before, but they wriggle around sooooooo much!!! So maybe later. It's great to be home...
  14. I'm loving this thread... awsome stuff!
  15. Need I say more!!!! Baby pictures to come...
  16. I'm a bit slow off the mark... but I too am proud to say... I belong to this 'group' also (somewhat still in denial as I won't SAY the word lol). I started with four budgies, then bred them and ended up with two clutches of three and four... so 11 Budgies... Over time some have passed away and one has found its way to my place... currently I now have 11 (including a "lovely bunch of Opalines"). As many of you have noticed, I haven't been on so much. My internet is getting connected at my new flat so hopefully any day now!!! I feel like a part of me has been left at home... I feel lost, alone, missing some of my heart... Excuse me whilst I wipe tears and snot from my face... Well, thats my story, my name is Maesie, and I am a Budgieholic...
  17. Congratulations!!!! I'll have a drink for you tonight!!!

That is just brilliant news Deb. I'm so happy for you! She is comming along perfectly and is going to have a special place in your heart I'm sure. Awsome and biggest ((((((hugs)))))) of congratulations to you!
  19. $$$$$$$$$$ It's like when kids do something wrong... they just know it!
  20. Very cute pictures Deb. You have nice birds and take a pretty good shot too!
  21. I have names peoples!!!!! For the two I'm going to (hopefully be allowed) keep... if boys... are: HARRY & LIONEL YAH!!!!! I've been handling them daily, and the oldest one is, at times, checking things out instead of burying its head in my crotch!!!
  22. maesie replied to deb's topic in Budgie Talk
Good stuff Deb. She is just adorable!
  23. Oh Deb... He'll come round!!! I'm happy to send more wine if that is needed!!! As to your current aviary... a change is a good as a holiday. I'd do what Dave said about the log, and just totally more things around. Keep things different and they might be more interested in their surroundings than trying to hurt each other. Good luck xoxox
  24. Biggest (((((hugs)))))). Poor guy. I hope he gets better soon and they figure out what's going on with him. I was going to virtually send you a money tree to help pay for the bills, but Yah for the vets!!! Good luck!!!
  25. Oh no!!!!! You poor thing. I hope they get better soon. In answer to your first question... Why do you have birds??? Because you LOVE them!!!! Biggest hugs to you and keep your chin up mate. If it were me, I'd probably also ring the breeder... a) To let him know that his birds (probably ALL of them) have these diseases and should be looked at, and b ) to let him know you're not happy. He probably wouldn't do anything about a), but he should atleast know about it. That's my two cents worth anyway Good Luck!
