First Ever Attempt At Breeding
A big breeder near me uses chaff as nesting material as it increases humidity and can be used as a green foood, but there is always the risk of mites as it creates more desirable conditions for these little pests.

I agree with Kaz. I have moved cabinets before while in use and it has not caused any issues.

Help! Chick Has Swollen Abdomen!
Not really sure. It might have a birth defect of some sort which makes air and/or food enter the abdomen. Doesnt look good, but these little guys are full of surprises so who knows what will happen. i have my fingers crossed for her

A Chick Has Me Confused
This pair who are finishing their second round in a cabinet Have produced this cute little hen who is split recessive.... I really dont think mum is split blue but i can see violet in this girl. Oh and her clear flights - What type would that make her as she doesn't have any other markings of a dominant pied http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk262/l...es/P1000850.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk262/l...es/P1000853.jpg This pair have also produced a normal green chick too

Behavioural Traits Useful In Determining Sex
Neither bird can breed until they are 12 months or older so that gives you plenty of time to learn all the ins and outs of breeding

Got The Breeding Cabinet. Pics Here
Awesome buy!! I would defiantly paint it white inside. not sure of the paint to use, probably any acrylic paint would be okay. a gloss would reflect more light and could be easier to clean too

$$ Compare Your Vets
My vet charges $55 for the consultation including poo smears and most basic on the spot tests. They were really friendly and were happy to teach me how to crop feed and allowed me to take 2 birds for the cost of one. Wing clips are free because i do them myself - i can do up to tiel sized birds on my own.

Removing A Hen Or Add Another Box?
Have you hand reared before, moving the nests is always a massive risk the parents will reject the chicks. If it doesn't work you will have lots of hungry mouths to feed.

Removing A Hen Or Add Another Box?
I agree with Kaz. Division is really the only answer here - it doesn't have to be permanent, in a few weeks you can remove the dividers and be back how you were. Would be best not to breed that way again - it's all too risky and hard to fix issues. If the bottom section is divided into 2 sections i would recommend breeding down there in the future with both pairs in their own space Can you post a new picture of your setup as it is today??

Removing A Hen Or Add Another Box?
Is this the ones???

Removing A Hen Or Add Another Box?
That would be the main reason for the problem. nest boxes side by side is just waiting for disaster. The divided demotions are still not bad so it can still be an option
