  3. Give the chicks the ronivet S. Its safe for chicks. I feel they need it as they look under the weather to me. did the vet test the chicks for canker too?

Sulpha is for treating Coccidiosis which is from a damp aviary floor and moisture getting to the seed etc. It also treats Enteritis which is gastro/food poisoning. Do any of your birds have runny poo and yucky vents??

I am making covers for the windows so i can have them fully open, half open or closed. I should have them done in a day or two - will post pics
  8. I am so sorry for your losses All the best with the chicks.
  9. Play stands are awesome for outside time. I have one that sits on the top of the cage. The cage door is always open and they just come and go as they please. 2 out of three of my inside budgies come out of the cage to play. the last one is not tame and will never come out on his own.

More progress happened though the weekend! I made a screen door with mouse proof mesh. Then we added 2 windows for cross breeze. The square window on the other side will eventually be a door that goes into the external flights It gets stacks of natural sunlight. I don't need the fluro light on all day any more. just 2 extra hours in the morning and evening. This is the setup i had before - The birds and i were a bit ---> :raincloud: as i could barely move in there and the cages down the bottom were wasted as there was no ventilation or light down there. To this... :budgiedance: :budgiedance: I still have to insulate before it gets cold, make proper stands for the cages, and i am currently making covers for the windows to keep out the rain and wind.
  11. Another mouse bites the dust Its seems more effective in the warmer weather... and not very useful when it rains
  12. The fun thing about breeding pet budgies, is you can put anything together. What looks are you after??

I join!! These cages make me so mad. All the sellers seem to want is money, and dont spare a thought for the poor birds who have to live in these cages.

  15. **Liv** replied to splat's post in a topic in Show Results
Congratulations Splat!!! What awesome results!!! :D :hooray: My clubs are starting to remove the trophies and sashes etc and changing them with money. I am with you Splat, i would much rather a trophy to show for good results, especially as a beginner. i can see that the seasoned breeders are sick of trophies (one i know has a house full of them!) but us beginners love love love trophies and awards!

OMG these people are hopless!! I get so annoyed when i see their cages. I would really pitty any bird in that first one... The only bird i would put in there is one of thoes plastic ones that spin around the perch. As for the one with the large bar spacing, it just proves they have no idea about birds and their size and must only be in it for the money
  18. Is my bird dead? or did she lay an egg? my bird has not moved all day and im worried she looks dead, but my mother says she is alive and she things she laid an egg. she says her head is up if she died then her head would lay flat on the bottom of the cage, but her eyes seem half way closed. mom says she saw her blink a few times, i really don't know please tell me if its normal for parakeets to do that or if she is dead, i dont know. there is seeds all around her body so maybe its a makeshift nest? like i said i dont know please help quickly moments like these parents need to have more information about the pets their kids are keeping. The poor bird, if its not already dead, sounds like it should have gone to a vet a long time ago.

Hello and welcome. Its great to have you here You have beautiful budgies
  22. voting is all part of it. if you dont vote for the good answers (ie: your own) the the daft answers get best instead It's a site that is a real chore at times. but i do it for the birds, i hope some are being cared for better because of genuine advice given.
  23. Hills, it means they are not in a hormonal state to ovulate and far from being in the mood to breed. kind of like people pms I didnt answer you other topic, i missed it for some reason. The albinos photo is very fuzzy in that topic so it would have been very hard to tell anyway. Here your albino looks like a hen to me.
  24. hey birdluv, hadn't noticed that comment box before. that will come in VERY handy
