  1. Depends on how bad the infestation is and what type of lice/mites you have. ivermectin will not treat lice, but will treat mites. If you have some mild feather lice, i would wait to treat them all when the babies fledge. If you have red mite, then you will have to treat as Pearce mentioned. Eggs are porous, so be very careful.
  2. Budgies heads and face glow under a black light. They can actually see UV light. David Attenborough had a segment about this topic on "The Life of Birds" documentaries - very interesting and they look sooooooo cool when lit up under the UV. Under the UV is actually how they see each other all the time - they see quite differently to us. I would not use the UV light on him often, but here and there would be okay.

  4. Thanks Kaz and Pearce. The chick may have been prem and mum hadn't fed it yet - i normally give mum until about 3pm to feed before i do it. The chick had died when i went to check if it had been fed.

  7. I find it more accurate to tell the gender at this young age. I start to get confused as they get older.
  8. Could be Rickets. Rickets is a calcium deficiency as a chick which causes weakness in the feet and legs, might be the cause of her poor stance

Perhaps put a drop of calcivet to the side of his beak and see if he sucks it in (don't force it as he may asperate) Pack him in the car and take him to the vet. any vet worth their salt will treat him immediately with out appointment. He seems to not cope with breeding well. we can talk about this after... get him to the vet
