  1. Sound really cool. my breeding room is 3m by 3m too. its a good size
  2. Third and final chick from this pair hatched today - another plum eyed one. The tiny red eye from this pair i am starting to think wont make it as its much smaller than its younger sibling - where there is life, there is hope. so i am really hoping she starts to thrive soon - she has always been so much smaller. Her skin is red and dry suggesting that she is dehydrated. her feather fluff is scruffy suggesting malnourishment, however she is fed well by the mother... i might give her some avical to see if it helps... She is on the left, and her younger (and much bigger) sibling on the right.
  3. Sounds like an awesome vet I am so pleased you have answers and are able to treat them. Good luck and i hope you have no more loss.
  4. I would say a Sky blue Spangle Pied (either recessive or dominant.) Like Pie's chick, but Sky blue
  5. So pleased its going well. I love the pics! I think we need one of the red sports car too
  6. I thought Calcium inhibits the antibiotic intake.
  7. I would say its caused by the parent feeding. They may push against the upper mantle too much causing it to misshapen.
  8. You could try using gentle pressure over time to push the beak back into shape

Hello and welcome - It's great to have you here I love your ring necks, they are gorgeous
  10. I am so sorry to hear that. :yellowhead: I hope many recover and you dont have much more loss. With small kids and a baby on the way i would be extremely careful - might be best to get someone else to tend to the birds to ensure you dont catch it.
  11. Oh, your baby would still be reliant on the parents for food. It should be atleast 6 weeks old and fully weaned before sale.
  12. I will do that and i will stock up big when i find them!
  13. $35, and yes, i think he is a total bargain. I took some photos yesterday. There are more chicks today, but i am trying no to bug them too much at this tender age. The two chicks from this pair (Renee and Robbie) The eldest. The second with plum eyes There is one more fertile egg which i have put under a foster to make sure it hatches. The first chick from Long cock and Melanie Look closely at the egg in the front - its cracking and i totally missed it when taking the pics. if i had sat and waited it would have hatched in front of me I will take more pics tomorrow :lightbulb:
  14. Long cock and his missus Melanie, suddenly have 3 chicks. 3 tiny little jelly beans hatched in one day - The most recent chick has plum eyes
  15. Aww Sweetie...how devastating biggest hugs from me

    Awwwwwwwww :lightbulb: :lightbulb:
  17. ARRRRRGG i have the same thing. i have searched EVERYWHERE for normal light bulb for my hospital cage. I haven't found any yet so i have had to make do with a 60watt spotlight type which is hard to direct the heat properly. :lightbulb: :lightbulb: I WANT NORMAL LIGHT BULBS BACK!!!! :lightbulb: :lightbulb:
  18. I agree with the genders of these birds Gender can be determined from so young. the day old chick in my sig i believe is a hen.
  19. hmmm... that could be a thought... i wasnt going to as at first i thought there might have been some genetic conflict. but it seems to be parenting rather genetic fault, so yes i might let them go again There has been no effort or stress by raising chicks so if you have fosters let them go again and foster the eggs....maybe the red eyes will prove interesting...either lacewing or lutino. the pair are back together and were kissing like long lost lovers
  20. Interesting... I wonder what it is. almost suggests a deficiency in something if it can be fixed by others feeding the chicks...
  21. hmmm... that could be a thought... i wasnt going to as at first i thought there might have been some genetic conflict. but it seems to be parenting rather genetic fault, so yes i might let them go again
  22. The final egg from this pair hatched this afternoon under the foster mother. both chicks are fed and doing well with their new mum. the new chick has black eyes, unlike the first one that has red eyes.
  23. That makes sense, as white skin always means anemia and red mite suck blood causing the chicks to be anemic. Renee did your nests have red mite back then?? The french moult sounds interesting too. its amazing how we seem to know so little about something so common. I have heard there is a vacination for FM now, but its $100 and bird I hope you don't have any more loss Kaz
  24. What did you end up calling that handsome green fella Liv :D  He is very appropriately named LONG COCK because he is my longest budgie    No other reason... promise
