Sounds like you have had some great ideas so far Deb. I have a paved base and it works fine for me. I use a fresh layer of sand each week and cleaning is a breeze Maesie. Blue board could be a good temporary base. It is basically a concrete sheet, it's cheep and you can cut it to size etc
  6. LOVE the photos!!!! So pleased you had an awesome time!!! Love the elephants
  7. adorable I have that happening in my aviary all the time too.... but i can never catch it on camera.
  8. I breed because I love budgies and I enjoy their company. I have been around budgies and budgie breeding since my very early days. It is one passion that has stayed with me all this time! I love to see what colours and types will pop out of thoes little white eggs. I love to watch what each bird grows up to be, and i love to admire their individuality and character! They are not 'just birds' as some may put it; they are all truly unique and special I don't sell many birds, I want to keep them ALL hehe!!
  9. Hello and welcome :hap: I agree that wing clipping is a good idea in situations like yours. A wing clip (both wings) instantly makes most birds a lot quieter and more welcoming to taming. Most birds need to have their wings clipped for their initial taming. After a few months the feathers will regrow, your birds will be tame and will fly around the room in a joyous manner, rather than a fearful one :hap: Oh, and be cautious of a wingclip done by a petshop, they often dont know what they are doing and do it wrong

  12. YEAH!!!!!! I am so happy for you!!! I hope you get it :nest:
  13. I always do a full clip of both wings. i know they loose that lovely "long" look, but they are far happier clipped full! My Sammy (Tiel) came with one wing cliped with two flight feathers left. I didn't clip her wings for a few days after I got her, but the reliefe she showed when her wings were short and even was HUGE!!! Persoanally, I feel that leaving two or 3 flight feathers when clipping, creates added strain to thoes feathers (which are normally supported by the secondary flights) and makes the bird uncomfortable. :nest:

  24. He is probably tired and ready to wind down for the evening... All birds have up times and down times.... Check his routine and see if its a time when he is resting. If it is, try holding him at another time of the day, or altering his resting times with more light in the evening and less in the morning etc
