  1. okay so I need to call my King Parrot something and I am stuck. I have spent most of today tralling the web trying to find something but can't. So a little about him He is about 6 months old, still has a green head with the red just starting to come through. He LOVE seeds any type of seed and dry fruit. He is shy and does not take to strangers, he does not like being poked and hates it when people thrust their fingers in his face (I don't blame him). He can say Pardon and count to 3. He is currently named Ollie but I am not taken with the name and he does not seem to be an Ollie so thinking I need something else. I like BeBee but we had a female dog named that, I have thought of calling him Red (after Hellboy) as he is going to be red but not sure. He needs to have a name before he comes home, please please help me.
  2. It's easy copy and paste the following list into your post. If you have/have had a Budgie but one of the names increase the number next to the name by 1, if your Budgies name is not on the list then add it. Try and keep them in Alpha order Ashley 1 Blue 1 Boof 1 Brandon 1 Buddy 1 Cloud 1 Drama Queen 1 Fiji 1 Flame 1 Grey 1 Harley 1 HeMan 1 Island 1 Kadaj 1 Lemon 1 Lime 1 Mike 1 Mozzie 1 Olive 1 Phillip 1 Queenie 1 SheRa 1 Storm 1 Tifa 1
  3. Snap now we both have Buddy's!
  4. Well MB showed me how to do it and then Jock at the local store (a budgie breeder from way back) did Boofs when they came back in. I am still building enough confidence to do it. My Local Avairn vet (who in your bringing home a budgie pack you will get his details) has said that he will do them for me when I bring on the young ones in for their pre homing visit. We are trying to align this visit with work experience and student rounds so then he will not charge me Also each bird is different. Buddy got his done before I got him and his have still not grown back Boof got his done at least a few weeks after Buddy's and has had them once once more since then!
  5. I thought that would happen I just came back to post that you should watch out for this and you beat me to it. Some of my guys are starting to go into molt and they are in the breeding cages due to the food change grrrrr I am just glad that Merlin has such a great mum!
  6. OH WOW, I know that alot of people have said about changing seed over but sometimes you think your covered but your not. The feed store near me rang me to tell me that they are changing their mix of Budgie seed so I got a bag and am mixing 50/50 so they guys get use to it. I am so glad you saw what was going on and worked out what to do. big hugs to you both!
  7. Can't remember how Dad got his started but I know that Lime is great for keeping the smell down.
  8. Also they learn more when they are excited. Most birds pick up words that their owners say as they walk into a room things like Hello, Whos a pretty boy etc.... Picking one word and using it each time you enter a room will help just make sure that the bird sees you come into the room and normally give him a food reward straight after saying the word. This is how I taught Harley to talk and he use to say things like "Wipe you feet" as people entered the house. The other way to do it is to cover their cage for 20min and play a CD or Tape of one or two words over and over again. Be careful that it is a clear quality as a friend of mine has peral who was the word about three times and then does a click sound and the sound of a tape rewinding, another click and then repeats the word three times again Yes repition is the key, Harley can sing the Buffy theme tune (if he wants or hears it) because as a young chick he heard it a few times a night for the first 6 - 8 months of his life with me.
  9. With my pet types I clip the wings if the new owner would like me to (two have already requested this) or if I feel the the brird is a little flighty. When you pick your baby I will let you know if I think he wings should be clipped but in the end it's up to you. Remember that they do grow back.
  10. I am free all day Sat so going to come around then but will call you before I come. Thanks for this.
  11. I have heard from many people that Beetroot water is good at stopping cancer growth in Budgies. Two avairn vets have also told me this. Basically get fresh beetroot from the market, boil it in water then let the water cool and give it to them instead of their regular water every second day. it will not cure it but should stop it from getting worse. Also my guys LOVE it and love eating the chopped up cooked beetroot. Just don't use stuff from a can as it is full of sugar and salt. I hope it works out. *hugs*
  12. In one of the vids she says that the bird has behavioural issues and feather plucks poor little guy.
  13. Looking like a good option!
  14. Basically you clip the flight feathers so the bird can not fly. it's a very personal topic some people are very anti it some people do it with all their birds. I did not do it with my first but have done it with later birds. They can still sort of fly but not get any height which means when you are taming them they can't fly away from you and fly up to the curtin rods and then you play catch the birdy for the next few hours.
  15. You know this is my theory I will tell them that I amk minding him for you and then well he just will never go home!
  16. Oh grab both og them and on Saturday I will come around and pick one up. I am not overaly fussed which one. I am busy cleaning my large cage for him however if my credit card comes through before the weekend then I might just get him a new big one! Oh my family are going to be pissed!
  17. Love the last one, was thinking "they are not Australian, don't tell me we have feral populations of them here too...." and then I read your comments.
  18. I agree Kaz however it it not just this that teaches then that. Look at all the reality TV, you want your 15 mins of fame be someone like Paris Hilton and you will get it. That sends out a Bad message as well.
  19. I sit on the fence on this one. Part of me looks at some pictures and believe that they are very artistic and would not consider them nude pictures but at the end of the day the subject is naked. I have to agree with what most has been said, depends of the culture and the beliefs at the time. My Greatgrandfather had an underage male lover for many years (infact the boy stayed with him up untill my greatgrandfathers death some 40 years after the affair started) however during that time in the place that he lived alot of the gentlemen had young underage lovers and as long as the nursery was full no on cared. Part of me is shocked and saddend by this another part gets that their society at the time accepted this. Do i think that we should allow child to grow up safe? yes but at the same time I would hate for history to ban all this artwork.
  20. Maybe he needs to stay with you
  21. I don't think she started it to tell you the truth she never showed any agression towards anyone and my hen had only been in there a couple of days so I would say mine started it Ohhhh I might have to come and get them!
  22. Think I am going to have to come and steal a bunch. Also you know the pair you gave to me on loan? (HeMan & SheRar) I am going to have to return them, one of my hens took a liking to the cock and we had a slappers fight, your hen is fine not a scratch on her, mine is in a warm box in the living room, looks like she tried to give her brain surgery I hope that is okay?
  23. Inside outside and a few places inbetween show me your pictures.... well I have seen most of yours But either way you can post them here. Also how did Coco go? Did it all work out for him in his new home?
  24. Kill kill josie kill..... hey what did her offical name end up being on her paper work?
  25. I got recommended a video on youtube in reagrds to training birds watching the girl is well spoken and has some really nice birds except when I came acorss this video I am sure that whatever is wrong with the bird she is treating it but WOW that looks strange!
