os I lost one of my Lutino hens today. I got home and she had an egg half hanging out. took her to the emergency vet who removed the egg and brought her home to take to the avairn vet tomorrow but within an hour she had passed away. i just really upset it just seems like nothing is going right. I have had two other hens scared off their eggs and another couple throw eggs out. Really starting to re think the whole budgie breeding thing.

If you go to the corner where toorak road and warrigal rd cross it is just down the road from that. Right near the westpac bank.

*hugs* honey I would love to be able to say 'I think you should do X" but I can't. I have had to put dogs, cats and horses down before and really it's a timing thing. You have to work out when it's his time and it's hard. i wish I could be more help.

I would say you should stear clear of peanuts as you should not feed them to bigger birds as they carry a fungus that can be harmful so for that reason I would not feed them to Budgies but that's a me thing.

I think even the best pet shops can have good and bad. My Local Pet Shop Burwood Birds and Pets I LOVE. Jock and Ivan are a great resourse but there are a few young people there that i just don't talk to cause I know they don't know as much as some of the other staff. Having said that I have been in there and had other people tell me how bad the pet store is blah blah blah so really it is also a personal opinion.

Really it is up to you. When i only had the 3 or 4 tame guys I went once a year. I take my older guy once a year as well just to make sure that he is healthy. The pre visit is just to make sure they are healthy and means that training vets/student vets can get some experience handling birds (it's an arrangement we are trying to work out) It really is up to you. Personally if it is not sick then I so no need to stress them bird out more then once a year with a vet visit!

Others may be different, but I had a handful at the start this then lets me know if they have been going in and out of the next box as normally all my hens remove it. Once the Chicks are hatched I put some in to help keep the nest box cleaner depending on the hen.

okay I have heard that Lovebirds can not be trained and that they are less likey to bond with a human then a Budgie why (even thought I LOVE the look of them) I have never gotten one. So to prove wrong all those people who said this to me i give you this video Oh I want one now

Oh so cute, I attempted to give my Budgies a bath, buddy put his toe in and then decided that he was a land animal not a water animal! :budgiedance: Wish I could teach mine to swim cause wet budgies are so so cute!

Hang in the bathroom while you have a hot shower that is what I do with mine and it hangs out the issues and I don't have to attempt to find my Iron :budgiedance:

Poor baby hope it all works out for you. FYI I have had Buddy tip half of bottle of Ivermectin on himself and me and a quick wash and he was fine.

Personally I would go to a vet and find out. I spoke to a few people I know who have larger birds and they all said that it sounds like he choked on something but withou opening him up you will not know. I have heard that they can hide buttons, bits of earing etc... for days and then play with them one time and you have the issues.

Nope they are cabinet breed so have no clue where the normal came from and yes the father is a double factor. All hens are you kiding me? argh well only one wants a cock and if i have all hens then i will have to give him one out of another clutch! Thanks for that

I have just spent the last little bit with a lady who brought her sick Budgie to me. I told her to go to a vet but the two close to us are closed and after looking at the bird it was warmth untill he passes. Seems her daughter was dying her hair and Birdy got on her shoulder he nibbled at her hair like he has done 100 times but this time she has hair dye on it, needless to say it took about 3 hours for him to pass on. When I asked why she would let him near her with hair dye on her hair she said that he had done it before and there was never an issue. It was a reminder to me that we have to be careful we do not get lax and leave our little guys open to dangers. Needless to say when they asked for one of my bubs I said no (one I don't have any to spare and two they teenager still maintains that she did nothing wrong)

Sorry i missed this threa, some birds molt harder (??) more offen and longer then other birds. Boof has shocking molts and his head looks like Charlie's does, glad you got to the bottom of it. Just make sure to keep an eye on him while he has the red cap stage cause if he breaks one you need to know what to do to stop the bleeding. But you should not have to worry about that for 4 - 6 months.
