I would be offended,if a vet charged me $150 to chop off a budgies foot. I saw a foot cut off many years ago with a pair of sissors. The bloke was giveing a demo on how to trim the feathers around the vent & snipped the foot off,

If that is the cage you showed the Opline in, you will need to watch what seed you put in the bottem of the cage,they might ping you for a marked cage,with the sunflower in there,plain budgie seed only.

I put a few drops of baby shampoo in spray bottle,with some warm water,& put the birds in a small wire cage,& spray them till they are soaked,then let dry.I will do that at the start of the week & the next day,I spray with warm water.then on thursday,spray with warm water with a drop of glycerine,

Seeing as you only have 2 budgies & one you have had for 4yrs or more,I think your feed is okay. But any of the better brands at the super market,would be okay.I sell 5kgs to a bloke I know,he has 2 budgies,Get to know one of the breedersmthat buy in bulk & they will most likely sell you some.

I don't think I have seen anyone taking photo's at the sheild,except for the jounal,I think at the Y/B,its all go. they will rope off the lanes,while they pick the team for the national.

As a judge Heath,you should know better.then to say that,the 14th bird is the best bird in the country,its the 14th best in the line up.But never 14th best in the country,I am not being harsh,just stateing a fact.There are a lot of "breeders" on here will be getting the wrong signl, if they think that the birds at the end of the line in a lot of cases,are a top budgie.

No that is not correct,If you get abird to the National, it is the top bird in your state,but the weaker states,the birds may be a long way off the mark,the first 4 to 6 birds would be classed as the best,but after that the gap widens.between good birds & best from the state they repersent.

I have also found,thay a millet spig in the nest box,helps if the hen is a feather plucker. I have had the odd hen that starts feather plucking & when I put the sprif in the chicks feathers have grown back/

Haveing read your other post & as I said, he may of eaten the tape or branch, you will need to work out what caused the death,so it dosent happen again,These are the things ou have to do,when dealing with animals. hey can't tell you,what happened.

It could be the black tape on the perch,I see it had been chewed,As Kaz mentioned the wings,the blue one siting next to the sick one,looked a bit suss, watch him.

If a bird is sick & dies,The chances are that it has been sick for days,They don't just fall off the perch over night.

If you paid $10 for the cage,thats a good buy,$15 to $20 is the goiing price.

Any body know about these fodder mites,or are they a pommy thing,never heard of them. My birds are on deep litter & only cleanerd out, every 6 months if they are lucky. Thats the flights,breeding boxes at the end of each round.

The only Medical treatment I give my budgie,is to worm them,no other meds,I have not had sick bird in along time,if one gets fluffed up a dose of Vitim C & if that dosent fix them.Bin them,thats why I use ACV,I only ever took one budgie to the vet & it fell off the perch there,that would of been 10 yrs a go.I will stick to my ACV. It works for me.

I buy my ACV in 20lr drum,I would use 120mls of ACV a day,It would cost a fortune,buying it from a health food shop.

If they are not drinking it,something is, I have glass tube waters,I change the water each day in summer. every second day in winter.I also have raceing pigeons,& they are on the the same mix.I have a electric earn & the water is boiled as well.Its like anything,youget use to it.Some people have sugar in there tea & if you gave them tea with out the sugar,they would spit it out.

My birds are on 10mils of ACV to the ltr,3 to 4 days a week, Citric acid,works the same as the ACV,you could use them week about. I use to use rasberry cordial,but stoped when I started useing the ACV.I have used some of the remidys that Splat. uses, at different times to lift a budgie,I thought might of needed a edge at a show.

How long are you goiung to last in a pet shop,if you don't sell the birds,because in most cases you would be talking the customer out of the birds. I surgest you find a different job,it will be less stressful. PS DrNat,you are compareing, salt & sugar. Wild budgies,total different,they are out in the wild & nature looks after them.Budgie in a cage total difference,I will leave it there,because you will be whiped, by the forum members.

I like these,seasoned breeders,we breed, brother to sister,how many make it to the show cage,its alright to say,you do it,but if they,dont make it to the bench,its pointless.
