Sad Day
Thank you every one but i feel for Greg more than me as Buffy was his dog for 11 years, he loved her like a child and i have loved her and fed her five years. But poor Greg he is not saying much at the moment as he blames himself. AS for that rotten tiger snake he didn't make it either as buffy made sure of that but she paid the price heavily. But what's freiking me out is that it is nearly breeding season for snakes around here and I am scared it has a partner hanging around. I am scared for our birds and I am really to scared to go out to my breeding room because one could be hinding there. I guess it takes time to get over fears like this. But Greg said it was probably after mice as I did catch one the other day. I went and bought snake net and heaps of mice bait yesterday. BUT all we want to do is rewind the clock so we can save Buffy but then Greg could of being bit too which would of being horriable. and to think it was under my car :sadsorry: I shiver thinking about it. Kaz they are brave little dogs.

Sad Day
I can't sleep because of my night mares. Last night at 10 pm Buffy our little Jack Russel started barking crazy like, we were in bed and Greg yelled out to tell her to stop it, but she only barks when something is there. Greg got up and went out to chance off a big dog as that what he thought she was barking at BUT he came running back in yelling it's a monster never seen one that big, I thought oh yeah must be a huge dog out there. Greg's yelling turn all the lights on quick and he pulled his jeans on and put his bludstones on ran back out, I follow in my jarmmies and he said yelled it's the biggest tiger snake i have ever seen, well I was up on top the out door table in seconds, much too scared to get down. :star: The snake was in the yard when Greg seen it and by the time we went back out Buffy had chased it back out and it went under my car. But it was too late it must of bit her in the yard because with in minutes sshe was nose down in the dirt, we rang the vet and rushed her to Numurkah which is about a 20 minute drive which took for ever and the vet gave her anti vemon. We stayed for an hour and we left she looked really good sat up a bit and blinked her eyes but she died at 1pm. the anti vemon cost $400.00 but Greg said it was worth it because we love her so much and she is part of the family and the best dog ever and she was. I have been crying all day Greg went over and got her today and tghen we had to bury :star: She was a great little watch dog and kept all cats out and never bothered about the birds even the pigeons she new she wasn't to touch them. we are going to miss so much. I can't sleep because I am scared there are more because it is nearly breeding season so I keep thinking it's mate is around somewhere. And everytime I close my eyes see it all over again.

The Some Of My Birds
Thanks Nowbudgie. Here is my best pied he is a huge bird with a massive head. Well I have come to the conclusion that I don't like this little compact camera I prefer my SLR . Maybe I will buy one of those frame Matt To start with I like to look through the view finder when taking my photos. Gee thanks Kaz, so you can get up close and personal and loose the bars.On my SLR The faster the camera speed and the lower the aperter is how I do it but even with my macro settings I still can't get close enough in the show cage to loose the bars.

- The Some Of My Birds
I have seen that Matt was going to order it months ago but changed my mind because I want to take photos at the shows too of other peoples bird. when I go to the next shield I will ask the guy who takes the photos there what type of camera he has. Because has a small little weeny camera and he takes the pics a few centimetres from birds through the wire and there is no wire in the pics. I will work it out. I really don't like taking photos of the birds in the aviary because all my birds look good in there but it's a different story in the show cage. but sometimes i do as I have no choice.- The Some Of My Birds
I am thinking of buying a new camera, so I thought i would test run Lisa's, I want one that I can focus on the bird in the show cage that will make the bars invisiable but this camera didn't do it but here are some pics some are a but blurry. Dk green cinn hen 2008 Violet 2008 His brother 2009 violet white DF spangle 2008 Violet Spangle 2009 I hope you like sorry there is more than one of each bird Going out to take more, but I wish I could loose the bars.- What Do You Think About The Tail Less Wonder
Guess what I aint't culling this bird but like Kaz said maybe it is shock or nutritional problem, Greg reckons I give them too much stuff and that's my problem I wonder if their is any truth to that. He reckons every time he sees their water there is always someting in it and dosing them for and that, he thinks poor birds give them a chance. This particular bird has always had 2 tail feathers, has never lost any wing feathers and I only discovered this deformed tail feather last night. I was and still am preparing him for the adult shield as he can still win with one tail. Question is ...........do we give are birds too much of this and that????????????? to course an unbalance in their system...................... Kaz would it be too late do open and check under microscope as I pulled it last night This deformed tail feather is only about 2 inches long has no real structure and the main shaft is as thin a a feather and has no substance..- Lacewing Chick
All you can do GB is leave there or put her in cage and feed her or let her feed herself and let nature take it's coarse. mmmmm hard one isn't. She still looks fairly messy or untidy to me, in the wings etc.- What Do You Think About The Tail Less Wonder
I don't think the tail feather is feather growing on top of what ever you said GB, The the feather looks normal but sparse in areas the quill or the shaft or what ever it is called is very thin. It's like it dies early on before it gets a chance to grow probably ( the feather I mean). Well I have never had french moult in this line but just seems when they get to thier first moult or this bird is almost 2 and I pulled that last night he still has one tail feather but has always had 2 till now. And believe me it has come from a good bird. So I have worked out the answer this year i will cross that line with a complete out cross and see what happens because till now I have been line breeding. and I have been putting the sibblings with half brother half sister and cousin to cousin. So if I completely bring in a unrelated out cross with good tails maybe that will fix it. This is the bird in question, the tail above belongs to and I won 1st at the young bird shield with him. and I do have a couple more with the same tail thing going and they are from the same line Violet- What Do You Think About The Tail Less Wonder
This is a type of deformed tail they grow, has any body else have this problem? or a stumpy one with a little feather on the end.- Look What Happened
Looks great Dave, I actually just got home from looking at a unit with Lisa and I was amazed that the lounge was tiled and I thought really what a great idea, saves cleaning carpet when you move out, I think the bedrooms had carpet but the rest of the unit is tiles. The tiles look the same as yours Dave.- Lacewing Chick
I get my from petstock, it is passwells (i think that's how it is spell) budgie starter they also have the handrearing formular too.- What Do You Think About The Tail Less Wonder
Acutally the couple I have here are cocks too, hens all have tails, I wonder what it is?????? why cocks and not hens?????- Lacewing Chick
Has she turned into a feather duster GB or was she just hungry. Is she putting weight on. - The Some Of My Birds
