Breeding Pairs 2010
They are looking good Dave, I am getting ready to put some pairs down in a couple of weeks, at the moment trying to make my breed room safe but getting most things off the floor so I don't find a unexpecting and definantly unwanted visitor hiding or lurking in my bird room.

Can you image us who are **** scared of deadly snakes trying to catch this tiger snake as they are know to attack, they are aggressive not like a brown or black snake that will try aand get out of your way and really only attack when threaten but a tiger will attack with out any promting. If Greg or were bitten or one of the grandkids it would be horriable because it is 47 ks to Shepparton Hospital. As it was it was 27ks to Numurkah vet. Any way Buffy did a good job with the snake untill she dropped it only took minutes before the vemon took hold, it was just horriable.

Show Budgies Behaving Badly
That's interesting, wouldn't mind that happening here as it would save heaps of seed Yes we are having those perches too not sure when either.

Show Budgies Behaving Badly
Just curious as each state is different, but I see that some cages don't seem to have seed in them and some have strange big drinker cups and they all seem to have paper or plastic on the floor. Here in Victoria we have to have the right budgie seed in our cages quite a bit actually I think about at least an inch deep and no paper or plactic on the floor and the right drinker in between the right bar or we will be disqualified.

Show Cage Training
I start when thye are babies and I they are the best trained than if I start with older birds , this year I ahve been slack so the birds are very well trained so I guess I will get headache on the day of my first showw next month. First I put them in the show cage at about five weeks for about 10 minutes every other day and while they are in the nappy cage I keep doing this but about 3 times a week. When they go into the aviary I leave them alone until they have completley moulted before catching them up again which is what I am up to now. My show team are in the baby aviary which is my show aviary this time of the year. I put them in show cages every second day now unless it is too hot they have the day off. I have the radio going for extra noise and sometimes I wear glass to spook them. I bring them out onto the veranda so they can see other people, I get everyone to take a close look at them getting them ready for judges and spectators. I train them with my chop sticks so they go from perch to perch and turn etc. The naughty ones get a cage full of ping pong balls to make them stay on the perch, I have use water in the bottom the show cage and that really did work a treat but wrecked my cage (but it was an old cage and I would do it again if I had too). I tip the cages upside down but I find that doesn't work very well with my birds as they prefer sit on the slant. I have stuck shiny plastic on the roof so they really slip and they do not like that so they will perch. I have a piece of wood I have forgotten the name of it but judges use it well I have a few of them and I put it in half way along the cage to stop those ones that run up and down the cage. I remember "Svennson Paddle" I have a lovely white DF spangle that I have high hopes for well he is dumb as all he wants to do is fly out the cage and his parents have outstanding temperment for showing so I guess he will come good, he only started that behaviour last week. So I have given him a break to see what he does next time I put him in the show cage. I know one breeder screws up wire and puts it on the bottom the show cage and he said that works a real trick they hate things under their feet BUT I haven't tried this yet. I don't really think my training would be much help to any one but it does work for me (well most of the time) I believe their show temperment is genitic so if the mother or father is a nutter I believe the offspring will inherit that behaviour.

Thanks Daryl I have heard those ticks are deadly too, I am glad she made, if Buff had of pulled through she would of been crook for weeks or even months the vet said as those snakes do so much damage to their insides. She would of needed on going treated but Greg would of paid it all to still have her here.

Thank you Dave and Liv, Greg would of paid anything to save her as he said she was worth it, I actually thinks he loves or loved her more than me, hope in a different way but he had a good cry that means something coming from him. The vet gave us a card with a whole page of writing, what a lovely thought , when my dog died Twenty years ago he was a ruby king charles cavalier, I took him to the same vet to have a grass seed taken out of his ear and the stupid vet over dosed him when they put him out and he had a heart attacked. I grieved for months. well any way we never got a card for him and he was in a heavy black garbage bag on the floor in a little room in the middle of summer. it was horriable. When Greg picked Buffy up the had her in a light degradable plastic bag in fridge type thing and then they put her in a special calico bag for burial. They were so good. BUT 20 years ago they sucked. And then they had the cheek to send me the bill, never did pay and they never to chase it up as Cosmo was a show dog with 30 points to go for Champion which back then was really good for a ruby, and we had people who wanted to buy him for $2000. but of course never would even consider it as he was a member of our family and spoilt rotten and he had 4 stud jobs lined up at $350. each and they killed him. I always reckon that was part of my exhusband my undoing as we seperated by the end of that year. All very sad. I wish they were more considerate back then. The vet that did it went on holidays straight away and never came back guess he was sacked as I guess they were worried we would sue them and we wanted to but we never had much money so was to scared too. Well that's my story on my beloved Cosmo. He was only 3 and 1/2 years young too. All memories came back over this and especially because it was the same clinic.

Thankyou, one of the grandkids dropped their chocolate and Greg and I both said quick Buffy will get it and then relised no she won't she's not here any more even though chololate is bad for dogs, buffy loved it and icecream in cones, she would run around and lick everyones left overs. I would buy her dog chocolate seems she was a chocaholic  to keep her happy.
