Good on ya Dave, I am a Christian Pastor and would happily debate the good vs evil or creation vs evolution with anyone, but not on this forum! This is about our hobby BUDGERIGARS! Amen here endenth the sermon.. Clearwing Yes I am with Dav too i am a Catholic and I believe in God to and I believe what Dav said because I am too lazy to type it myself and he did such a good job wording.... And CW is a lovely Pastor
  4. Renee maybe you should her on doxy now I think what GB is trying to say is that it could be Chlamydia ( Psittacosis ), The vet told me the same thing. http://www3.sympatico.ca/davehansen/sinus.html
  5. She just looks very very heavily flecked that's all. OR Is a new mutation Black face recessive pied that would be interesting but know don't think so But it is strange that her wings look like normal wings and I think this is because she is so heavily marked..
  6. I think it just needs feeding, they say when you have good feather in your breedroom you undoutly get featherdusters. All you can do is wait and see.
  7. It could be the start of a cyst or it could be a bit of seed hush and they tend to stick to the skin in the eye. See if you can flush it out with slightly warm boiled water with salt added I just crab a big pinch of it or you can buy the solution from the chemist. My hen started out with a sore eye like your bird but boy did it good to BAD. Good luck with her.
  8. What on the eye iteslf or on the skin aorund the eye.
  9. talk about days of our dreeries
  10. I have the odd crash here and there Even the ones that can't fly here climb the wire or ladder to get to the perches. Mine only sit on the floor when it is hot you always no when it is too hot for them as yep on the floor and no noise but when it's a nice day they chirp that loud that you can't here yourself think sometimes and the zip and fly everywhere. BUT I do have some heavty hens that have trouble lifting their weight ... Looks like all the girls at this address need to go on a diet yours truely too.
  11. poor luvie oh well looks like he will settle in with is new girlfriend. Bad new about Lou Lou, hope she gets better completely soon. Perches I scrub mine down then wash with a solution of domestoc and then spray them and everything with verkonS. Sorry NO ovens. not here.
  12. I am not having that problem but I do have a few that went into the breeding cage that could fly and came out and couldn't fly and still haven't flew. Looks like one of their wings is damage and i have no reson to why. It's only my fat birds that are having trouble flying , they can fly but they struggle to get to the top.
  13. That cocky lying on the road differently would of meant it was hit by a car and he or she mostly had internal injuries, beside a broken wing. BUT sorry they did that. It's all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ these days. I saved a couple of galars from the side of the road Buddy made and he had a broken wing he was just a baby but he kept picking at his wing until it bleed but then it would heal. We wrapped his wing up tight around his body for a few weeks hoping it would heal. He lived a happy life but can't fly. The other one was really young and bleeding from the mouth Lisa thought it fell from the nest but I think a car hit him as he had blood coming from his mouth. He died the nest day poor little fella. He was sitting on his little perch and the bleeding stopped the night before but next minute there was blood on his beak and he just dropped dead. I was just about to name him thinking he was going to make it too. Gosh how do you spell garlar because is't there a h in it somewhere
  14. She looks mop in some photos and in others she doen't but these 2 pics she does look mop but she looks hungry all fluffed up maybe that is all it is but time will tell. But if she has left the nest and the parents are feeding her that is a good sign that is a mop.

Yes you should do the quarantine as it is not worth taking the risk of loosing all your birds

Hey Clearwing my boys are in the aviary with the girls and the boys still choose to chat up the other boys I think I have a lot of swingers in my aviary
  17. GB by 5 weeks the wings should be messy like extra flights etc and they have this wow head about them that makes you think you have this wonderful bird I would just leave her for the time being and see how she turns out if you think she is fine because I had 2 this year that I was quite sure the were mops with great feather and wow heads and they were normal not mops.
  18. Normally mops are big and fat while with the parents as they demand all the food because they can't get enough nutritian from their food so they always want more , something like that, BUT once out of the nest and the parents stop feeding them they loose weight quickly.
  19. Sorry GB but I really think you have a feather duster, it's got the shark thing happening too (long secondary flights). BUT then it might not be, just watch it closely will be able to tell in a week. So far the wings are quite tidy but it does have that look about it. Just had photo 3 and 4 I think looks more feather duster but then I have also seen that fluffed up look in my friends birds, she looks hungry so she's all fluffed. Later later photos she looks fairly normal. You can tell by the time they are 5 weeks old if they are a mop or not. Keeps us updated
  20. Thanks all, yes Macka very weird place on the corner of the eye. She is the only one I have had with it un until.
  21. I am just curious on peoples thoughts and if they thought it was handed down from generation to generation.
  22. BUT MY QUESTION IS ..... HOW DO we KNOW it will be passed on. This is the 1st case I have ever had and I have been breeding only for 4 years
