How come you can't leave it active and open a new one or won't it let you

she is only about 18months old so very young, and she is the hen I got 2nd at the uncapped shield, 14 in the hens class at the young bird shield and won best hen at the Riverina and Ky shows, so you can see she is my best hen and i really want babies from her.

Just leave it open Renee and open a new one too.

The vet rang and had a look at the images I sent her and said it doesn't look like sinusitis but it looks like it is a blood filled tumor or cyst and either way it will need to surgically removed.$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ **** everything happens at once, last week my car broke down after a few hundred dollars they inform the back shockers have gone and need to be fixed straight away now a operation for a bird that you have to pay for on the spot I am scared if I go ahead and then she dies the next day I have heard of that happening . Tumor is life threatening as it will keep growing inside. But she thinks by the image it is a cyst but still needs to be removed. Doug won't be back until next Monday and he will have a look and advice me, in the mean time need to keep it clean and hope she doesn't get an infection. She doesn't think the doxy will be much good as there is no difference after 14 days use but she said it is the ideal antibiotic to you when it comes to the eye.

It has to be vary easy for me too, like now putting all these records back on the computer is driving me nuts and my hard copy (books) are as easy as.

I came across that problem last night, the same ring number but it did have different codes stupid program anyway to out smart it I just click an extra space between code and number works everytime or you can do it like this JM4 098/09 JM4 098/07 etc that fools the stupid computer

I rang the vet and the avian vet is away until next Monday is wife who is a vet is there and she does have an interest in birds. Anyway rather than go over there to someone who may not know I have sent them some photos first. Hi I just rang about my birds eye, She has been on doxy for 14 days now with no improvement. I have been washing her eye with warm boiled salted water and the last few days applying chlorsig which is helping to keep the eye clear. Thursday last week another breeder broke it with a sterile needle and we got a lot of blood out but the swelling didn’t go down it was like a big air bubble. It looks like it has filled with blood again. It is like a big blister. The bird is healthy has not lost any weight and is not fluffed, she is not bobbing her tail and she seems to be breathing normally. Some one told me it could be sinusitis but she doesn’t seem to have anything to suggest that except for the eye. She has nothing coming out of her nose it is clean and dry (normal). Could you please advice me I have attached a couple of photos of her eye, the swelling is not as red as the photo. You can see the eye is clear and no discharge. Regards Julie with these photos

Yes I have looked some of that up and she is not unwell so I don't think it is the sinis thing but who knows.

If i sliced it off Gb she would have a big hole in her head. It's pretty big. And I am scared I will kill her and what if it is that sinisits or what ever it's called. I will see how she is tomorrow

She is no better at all. The poor little thing. The side of eye I is all swollen, when CW and I lanced it we thought it would just pop and go down but it didn't after we got all the blood out it stayed the same size but it did look like she had a little relief. BUT all swollen again but she is looking so healthy, hasn't lost weight, not fluffed up, no messy bum everything looks good except her eye. I am too scared to lance it on my own and more scared of giving her an infection. BUT I quess I have nothing to loose. She is still on the doxy. I think trip to the vet tomorow but I will ring first and see what he says.

I use these ones Kaz, I like the one with the records on the page, I print out heaps and put them on the from of my breeding boxes and all details are filled in and also into my breeding book out in the aviary then the lot is brought inside and recorded in my record book and computer.

yep with someones watchful eye :rofl: But I do have some ideas, I have been looking at the birds aand already working out what's going with what. :rofl:

Thanks clearwing great advice I am in the mist of putting all my birds back on the budgerigar program because I can't retrieve them from my old computer because it had it. What a big job. But i am taking the oportunity to record feather size shoulder ect :rofl:

I agree Nubbly, I try not to move them around but sometimes you just have to and with my birds I don't have much that is different but the df sp nest work very good. But yes need to write exactly where they have gone

But Kaz I worry about extra vermon, bugs, moths etc, do you have that problem. Last year I did try lucerne chaff but I found it seem a bit smelly after day from setting I guess.

Your system sounds great Fran, I can take leaf out of that and learn something in the way I only record some of my culls to where they go but on the computer I do have more detail. So from now on I will record who nthey go to.

I do and will be using my concaves but I do fill them with wood shavings but I do have hens that like to chuck the lot out, so once the babies hatch I fill it up again.
