Radical Changes
It's a no win thing anyway because if you choose not to breed the feather, you won't win on the bench. My birds all fly in the aviary.... so far anyway. Even my best birds are in the open outside avairy. I really don't wish to breed birds with such feather that they can't see and fly. BUT I am competitive also so I guess I have to go with the flow untill someone changes it. BUT I do think they should work on variety, like opalines etc and markings etc, rather than build the feather anymore.

2010 Melton Blue Ribbon Auction
I had one couple tell me $1,000.00 up I guess that was to keep me away too. I think I am going but mainly to look. Ino is going and said to start saving if I want to go. So I guess I will go but mainly for a look.. Wouldn't mind a pair of Watson birds and you never no but I doubt it. I'm like GB don't have money to burn. PLUS I am curtious about spending a heap on a bird as 2 weeks ago I lost my best hen and yesterday I lost another top hen that was important to my breeding programe, ruptured inside.

My Aviary Sucks Ive Tryed Everything
I will try and find some pics soon, can you get hold of coolroom walls, like some tips have them, they pull down coolrooms and it goes to the tip and it is great instilation. I was told the other day to go tip the ti and get some as it would be great to put on the roof to keep cooler. So that's an idea too. you can get it in different sizes, 3ft by 6ft and smaller. For me what wworks is just by having something on the room just seems to stop the inside of the aviary roof getting wet. I am putting wood fence palings on the side of my aviary that gets the most heat in the summer, we have plenty as we just got a new fence. On my breeding room roof Greg has old fence palings covering that to keep the heat off and moisture away. And on the new part I have packing crates lined up there and then cement sheeting. works for me.

My Aviary Sucks Ive Tryed Everything
I have tin roof of my aviaries but on top of that their are big red slats and then I have cement sheeting over them, it cuts back the heat in the summer and no moisture inside, I also have shade about 2 feet from the roof. For I put up poly glaze or pcv which is clear plastic all around the wire but there is still 3 feet of wire that is uncover for air flow. Inside the aviaries it is as warm as. There is a bloke around here that makes aviaries and I am ordering one in July. The roof is tin but he has a layer of plyboard on the roof, I thought great idea So Gb try that if possiable, put a piece of plyboard inside of the roof, that will stop consendation. I was going to line all mine withat plus put some builders styrofoam behind it BUT Greg reckons it was is waist of oney. Don't quit.

Wattle Flights
Just by the photos Dave , to me you need to put the dk green and lt green cocks with hen with bigger spots, maybe an opaline. the light green cock has tear drop spots from here. So if they were my birds that's what I would do. I have more experience breeders drumming it into me not to double up on faults. I am still trying to work out the shoulder bit, I can tell from a skinny bird but some better birds I struggle with until I spot them and then I can see it. AND I am not sure as it is only a photo but the light green cock could be a bit narrow in the shoulder because his bib looks narrow to me, so if that is the case make sure you find him a hen with could chest and shoulder and great big spots. AS with me here, I am trying to breed the bird and will worry about variety later. For example I do not have many normals left, culled too hard, so I have decided to put the best to the best with out worrying about the variety, meaning spangle to cinn spangle which I really didn't want to as judges seem to hate them. Dom pied to spangle as I need more feather on the spangle. AND colour wise I don't care what colour I put to what, as a month ago i did, I really wanted to put grey to my df spangles to improve the suffusion but my grey hens turned out to be duds so now they are going with spangles and i will breed more spangles. AS LONG AS I IMPROVE ON THE QUALITY OF THE BIRD> My spangles have good chest and shoulder and size, where is my violet line lack a bit of shoulder, not all of them but some from the same nest, so I have brought in an outcross hen that has a huge frame and love big chest and shoulder, but she does lack feather above the eye.. Just hope she throughs good stuff. I hope this helps....

Some Of My Chicks
O h no mine was a hen, that's Geoff's wondered what I did with the cock, looking for him a while ago to put with a hen. I must of parted with him because I chucked the moodies with cinnamon, but now I am looking for cinnamon. He chucks some nice heads with directional feather. Maybe put him with the grey green cinnamon opaline hen I think ring 3139, she is out of my old boy , my wow bird who now has passed on. and her mother is my waston blood violet hen. That cock is Alan Rowe line so the 2 might click for you. OR save her for something better. Who did you plan on putting with her. The grey cinnamon cock, the father of number 2 baby who is the mother?

Cinnamon Opaline Dark Green
I have a bird here that I bred from a violet and a dark green spangle and he is a very dark grey green to dark green to an olive colour, he is actually a violet green but seems there is no such colour, i would have to say he is an olive but I can't even check his tail to see what colour it is as he has only grown 2 short stump thick tail feathers. AND what's worse he is a stunner and I can't even show him. When I get a camera I will post pics of him.

Some Of My Chicks
It will be interesting to see what comes out of them, what about the grey green cinnamon opaline hen, what are you putting with her.

Chicks In Nest And 2009 Broken Caps Downward
Clearwing took home my albino hen today to put with one of his birds, just a loan. And my split lacewing is gone bred by Owen Haddick, Trevor bought him off me today, as I have my hands full trying to breed what I have. Will try lacewings later on. I have decided to keep my lutino cock as he is a big bird and quite nice and for the time being I am keeping the clearbody as his partner has just started laying. My clearbody, lutino and sky hen are all from A&J Howes. Ballarat. I am hoping for some good stuff from them, they are all big framed birds and he told me the lut and sky are out of his best birds or line, can't really remember. Anyway so I might be chasing an Albino up GB but I think from A&J Howes though. Just have to see have to see how this nest goes. And if babies turn out good then I will want one.

Chicks In Nest And 2009 Broken Caps Downward
Well Gb it's hard to tell what the hen looks like as the photo is blurry. But if the buyer bought the Albino at least they will get a chance of breeding an albino straight away. The cock looks better to me but as I said can't really tell from the picture of the hen. That's just my opinion. Are they big birds or small.

Splats Df White Spangle Cock Breeding
Can't wait to see them feathered, have my fingers they turn out like their parents either parent will be great, bothe have good directional feather. I called in to Geoffs today to see my 3 babies, the 2 violet hens are looking good, excited about one of them looks promising. I would like their heads wider but I will just have to wait and see, the spangle isn't bad either, they are from 2 differnt nest. Can't wait for to leave the nest so I can bring them home. They are only about 3 1/2 weeks old so a little while yet. Sorry no pics as I have no camera still.
