  1. What do you think of this baby, he is slouched over the perch
  2. We grow our own veges here so we have loads of carrot tops just going to waist. Kaz when you put your half carrot in the aviary to you just put in on a plate or do you use something to keep it in place.

He is a sweety, but he does look like he is not feeding properly and that sign is that he looks a bit fluffed up. That would be why he is quite.

All look like cocks to me too.
  5. I give mine grated carrot too but I was just curious about the green leafy tops.
  6. Just wondering if carrots tops the green leafy is part safe for budgies.
  7. Sweet name nice little bird too!!
  8. Yep I have some here , and yep CW is helping me heaps too .
  9. we get lower than that like -1. sometimews like a week ago -3 I think. Once all finished wait for a nice day and put them in early they will climatise over the day.

I agree, it often turns out better if you can make it or get someone make it for you than buy something that is not quite right
  12. I think our longest day of the year or is it the shorest can't remember but 26th june is meant to be the coldest day of the year and I think the longest or maybe the shortest. I think ...... This morning was very foggy and really cold. air is moist.
  13. Thanks Kaz but I don't think you will see me at any Nationals anytime soon, the competion at our shield for the Nationals is really tough. I have'nt bred anything outstanding this year so far except that cinnamon opaline violet hen but she will be heavily flecked, even these babies are looking like they will be flecked too. BUT we can all aim for it. BUT the best part about my birds is that I have have stud going now as everything is related and they all seem to have the same type head and feather. so it can only get better, I hope
  14. Most clubs are the same, they vote you in and from my experience that is mainly to get trouble makers out. I am not talking budgie club, I am talking clubs in general. Like when I was in this rock'n'roll club we had to vote possiable new members yes or no. One occasion we did a no because this particular person was out to breakup marriages and was well known for it. The club didn't want any trouble so we said no.
  15. Catching up great. Looks like will be a nice bird you can always send them on a holiday over here
  16. Thanks Taboo. Here is an update on 2 babies, These two are from the grey cock and the sky spangle hen that died. The eggs were fostered to a cage with one babies but the hen plucked down out and then feathers, blood everywhere, so they have been in a new fostercage for a week now and looking great. Grey cinnamon spangle Sky spangle I really wish I didn't through the other 4 eggs away now
  17. What a nasty cow gosh he was only doing his job Chicks are nice Kaz, interesting to see how they moult out.
  18. Name and shame and I would let the BCV know about this club. As they are trying to get more people interested in the hobby and you have a club that won't take new members, that is awfull.
  19. Thanks Nubbly I can't wait for the next nest to feather up. I have 6 from my violet cock. Father of the 3 violets above.
  20. I really don't know who to put him to because he is an outcross, but I don't want to put him with that hen again because I got all cinnamon. You will have to help me pick Clearwing. PLUS the hen is heavily flecked and he has a bit of flecking , maybe I shouldn't of paired them together as I have enforced the flecking becaue I have notice the 2 cinn opalines are going to be flecked too. I think. So need to picture a hen that is not flecked, what about one of yours that you loaned me a a couple of weeks ago. I could pair him to one of them and have some outcrosses next year. What do you think. Or should I put him with one of the yellow Df spangle hens BUT then those 2 hens need to come back into my line this year becaus ethey have been outcrossed twice already.Cheers Julie Hi GB yes , that is my plan. From experience some of my birds blossom late. you have one of them . So I am going to wait and see how they turn out this time
  21. Poor boy, his cere looks torn but glad he is okay. could of been worse... dead. that happened to his dad last year.
  22. It was actually strange because her eye always looked good, no discharge or anything. It appeared that the lump was on her brow to the middle of her heading pushing the eye down with the swelling. Inside the lump had the characteristic of a feather cyst first operation, second operation only blood like she nearly bleed to death.

Thanks Taboo, I am going to cut the wire front on the side of the show cage today to put another door in because the big door on the other wire front is good but the cage is so big I have trouble reaching the side where the show cage is.
  24. Great job you are doing there jetrick, gee I am only on to my 28th baby for the year But my excuse is quality not quanity it works for my . As for what GB has said yep I have culled birds miles to young and have lived to regret it. I have also culled on impulsion and lived to regret that too . Greg has culled some and I have lived to regret that too. Geoff has culled for me and actually he culled good and he picked out what Greg picked out too so that was good. BUT this year I am keeping every bird I breed. NOT selling any. So Greg better get use to the noise
  25. I did beg Greg to put her to sleep as it looked sooo cruel but I am now thankful he wouldn't do it. Geoff operated twice on her and somehow weeks later it must of worked. her cere was blue on the side of the tumor and now all brown. I gave her a fly in the baby aviary for a few days. She is down with the violet her uncle have my fingers crossed. She is a tough little bird. She would have to be the best hen I have bred so far. She is a full sister to your cock Kaz. Her sister from the same nest awhite Df spangle died a few weeks ago. I was very upset over that so I am glad this girl has come good. I love her she is sooooo pretty and I have won heaps with her
