My Best Lt Green Spangle Is Sick
Yes I am using the cocktail of Sulpa AVS and megamix from Rob Marshall. The boys droppings are bordline normal now. Very happy he is very alert jumping all over the place. So I think on the mend BUT I have totally stopped wet food, NO MORE ever. I NO more soaking seed with codliver oil as I really think that is what caused it. I was putting codliver oil, garlic oil and poly seed oil in the seed. which a few breeders do here BUT no more. Totally going back to basics as you can over do things. MY OPINION only. BUT with the codliver all you can over dose on Vitamin D so I have been told. I think Daz had a problem with this last year. not so much over dosing but codliver oil put fat around the heart or liver or something like that. ANYWAY No more for me.

My Best Lt Green Spangle Is Sick
Thanks Anne Marie. Well good news my boy seems to have made a full recovery. If he is still on track I am going to put him into my large hospital cage tomorrow out in the breed room. There is heat up one end and he can escape from the heat if he choose. I believe he had enteritis so all birds and him have been on sulpa AVS. The fisrt night I gave him MoxyT but the next day I changed it to the sulpha as it is the treatment for enteritis. The hen and the babies he was feeding are all good too. I will take a photo of him tomorrow, too lazy now as I worked today and I am stuffed.

My Lacewings And Working On A Line
That's what clearwing made me do awhile ago. Pick my best 12 cocks in order of what I thought was the best downward to least best and 24 hens in order to.. if I had 24 hens :what: I found it hard because I have quite a few exceptional cocks and I had to pick in order drove me nuts, so then I had to work if any needed anything to improve them, so buy doing this I was on my way. Like for example my violet cocks have really good heads and directional feather but they can do with more shoulder (that is why I was after Sheppard bird as good shoulder. That is why last year I bought that hen at the Laveton Auction she is a A Hows hen, she is a large framed hen with good shoulder but she doesn't have much above the head. But still a nice hen. But so far I am happy with 3 violet hens I have got so far especially the cinn opaline violet hen . they are down again with about 8 eggs but so far only 3 look fertile. drat. One of the babies The hen from the auction(mother) Father my violet This is my split lace wing I got from the same auction, he was bred by Owen Haddick but I have since sold him to a friend of Geoffs as I am not worring about different varietys at the moment, i still need to focus on my birds I have here Gb this cock is the full brother your spangle hen, out of the same nest.

Just letting you all know the my boy is still kicking but he is much the same as last night. His dropping are a pale creamy colour. Not running they are forming but am worried about the colour as his sister who dies a couple of months ago had the same colour droppings and the she died.

Most of mine lay between 2 - 5 in the arvo. And they hatch in the mornings with some hatching later in the day.

This morning he was hanging his wings now he is holding them and sitting on the perch. But he good hold them a bit tighter and he is breathing heavy and bobbing his tail a bit. Earlier this morning and now Gosh I hope he makes it.

My Lacewings And Working On A Line
Yes That is what I have been trying to do. Breed type and then variety. I believe I am getting there. Gb Gina is right breed the bird first (type and size feather etc ) then worry about variety. I was talking to a breeder and judge the other day, talking about birds and saying I do not want cinnamon or opaline and he said don't worry about variety worry about type and get the bird on the show bench. But then I said I differently don't want a cinnamon cock because they are taking over. I don't want to breed anymore cinnamon spangles as you judges don't like them and he replied some do some don't but if a bird is good a judge will put them up because of their type etc. cinnamon or not.

My Best Lt Green Spangle Is Sick
I was talking to another member of my club tonight and he had canker in his birds last year and he thinks NOT CANKER, as his did not vomit like this boy, he said they did a bit after he started the medication when they tried to bring up the stuuf and that's when he lost some of them. I now believe this boy has enteritis caused through wet food or codliver soaked seed which both things I have ceased immediatley. He is looking much better so far in the hossy cage preening himself. I felt his crop Macka and it doesn't feel hard. I preventive treated all birds for canka about 3 months ago.

Rang the vet and he will not be available until Monday week and that is miles too late. He hasn't vomited all day. He is in my small hospital cage in the washhouse so I can keep a close eye on him. Will give him turbosole starting tomorrow, but to the like of me can't work out how hw would get canker as he is near no knew birds and the last new birds that came to my aviary was a few weeks ago are no where near these birds. Thankyou everyone for your concern

My Best Lt Green Spangle Is Sick
Hi all My best lt green spangle is sick. He is in a nest with a hen and 4 babies (not theirs) well I found him this morning looking a bit worse for tear. He has what looks like vomit all over his front and a messy bum (not real bad though). Above the cere is not went so I am not sure what the problem is. I have put him in the hospital cage and gave him moxi and the hen and babies. The vet won't be in until next Monday as he is only there Mondays only . Here are some photos of him. I would hate to loose him as I lost his full sister a couple of months ago, Kaz has one of his brothers and Geoff has a sister . I am really scared I am going to loose my line.

Birdroom Reno
22 counting 4 of these wire cages , 1 large nappy cage and 2 hospital cages. I had more breeding cages last year but found it too much work and plu I have taken down most of the ones I can't see into so I only have 2 cages now that I have to use the step ladder. I had 7 cages more last year but they have gone now.

Splats Breeding Season To Date
Hi all , I have this crazy hen, well not crazy just proective I guess but she is drivine me nuts. She had 6 babies to my violet and she is raising 3 of thm on her own. She started off fine but then after ringing the last baby she has gone crazy. Every time I go to put wet food in or top up seed jar or replace water she jumps on the wire and tries to attack me. When I put the wet food in I have to wear thick woolen gloves and make sure my thick jumper has covered my wrist because when I put my arm in she attacks and bites gripping hold of my finger or hand, ( like I reckon if I shaked my hand hard she would still have a good grip on me she is horriable. I will take a photo tomorrow of her attacking at the wire .(she waits for me.) Greg said that's good she is a good mum but really get real I think that is over doing it Has anyone else have a hen like this. I have had a couple last year but it was the in the family but all they did was try to bite me then go back into the nest BUT this hen just keeps biting. I can't even check out the babies because she is a nut case, all I do is quickly look in and that's the job down. I have to clean the nest out soon god help me
