Splats Breeding Season To Date
Yahoo Gb that sky violet cock brother to your hen has filled an egg, hen has 3 eggs and first one is fertile, wow so excited as it is the first time he has filled and you said last year that because he busted his wing he wouldn't be able to do it but he did  The violet that is dad of most my babies so far this year which is 12 young and more to hatch yet well remember be hurt his wing too and can't fly now either but he is doing his job and what a great job he is doing Actually it is proving that my cock birds here breed better when older 18 months and on. So i had thought that earlier but now I am quite sure so I am keeping the young cocks till next year to breed with.

Greg started me off too  , his cousin gave him a budgie that flew into there yard one day, no one claimed him so Greg went out to get him, he was a classy little fella. Anyway Greg built a cage for him and attached to the wall on the veranda. He was so impresses with this little fella that Greg and I went over to visit Ian Furness to see about buying a few more. Well next thing you know he built our first part of the breeding room and our first part of the aviary. Back then he was going halves in buying the birds which was really good. Things have expanded from there But I have to admitt he is very happy that I have done well with birds but I wish he would come to some shows with me, He use to come but he now finds them boring and really they are a very long boring day, if you have nothing to do. I find them okay because I am watching all the time and yacking

Food For Chicks
It is with any soft food should take it away after a few hours. Meaning don't leave it there all day or over night that is when the bacteria sets in. Hot weather is much worse too.

Yeh but he might breed champions too

Food For Chicks

I would be quite to combine and everythings ours  Anyway earlier last year Greg reckons he was going to start his breeding up using the white df cock that Kaz has as it was his and getting his own rings but clearwing and a few others said that you cannot have to breeders at the same address. I offered to loose my points and we combine but we decided against it and I am glad we did as he has no interest anymore.

I would chuck Greg in for a nice guy who would build me my dream bird room, something like Henry Georges would do but I would settle for a setup like Gary Watsons  okay question. If you met the right guy or gal and hooked up would you have your birds and his or hers depending on your sex or would it be ours and our beautiful birdroom and aviaries?

2010 Breeding Journal
Using outcrosses this year Liv, but they aren't that closely related as When go out (outcross) then the following year I go back into the line But i know what you mean and have thought of that but after looking at each individual bird that can't be the problem , well not yet anyway :party0011:

2010 Breeding Journal
That's great Liv. :party0011: I just went out and checked mine. Most nest have clear eggs again I really hope you do better than me Liv as I am really sick of this. But My violet cock the one I won the Victoria shield in the violet class as a young bird has fertile eggs so he is doing great this year as so far I have got 12 babies from him with 2 different hens and now this lot :laughter:

Yes Dave CHICKEN Greg use to be interested but now is totally NOT He use to help me pair up as he has the eye for them, he knows a good bird when he sees one, not like me who goes nuts over choosing. I know what I want and what i like but get a bit carried away :party0011: He is always acusing me of budgering (that's the word he uses) and on the computer or to friends on the phone. He reckons that is all I talk about BUT he always talks about his pigeons. BUT that's different  I really wish he would take some interest again. :laughter: BECAUSE when he did is when I bred better birds. Now I am on my own, as he puts it you can't go wrong they are all related in some way or another. They all look the same so just go for it. WOW isn't that a lot of NOT help But anyway I will continue on my merry way and breed and etc on my own.

Babies In The Nappy Cage
Thanks Kaz, I haven't bred many I think maybe 36 to date and i think that is exagerating too. BUT what I have bred is fairly good, I only have a couple I think that will be culled so far. And my excuse is (it is all about quality not quanity ) only because I am getting clear eggs But that saying is working for me :hooray:
