  1. Hi and Welcome Jeff To chookbreeder, I really didn't notice as I really didn't feel like talking to anyone but I thought I should make a little effort but I really thought you were polite and of course always a gentleman , I felt really sick in the morning and really didn't want to be there. I actually felt like I was rude to GB. so If I was I am really sorry. But then she did make me walk 10 thousand miles :ohmygod: well it felt that far. And I missed out on Chinese dinner with my club members so that was sad. I left here at 6am and didn't get home till 7.30pm so it was a really long day. BUT really it was a good day with a lot of top birds there, very hard to get a bird in the Nationals. Congratulations Liv, wow and see you were going to quit. Glad you didn't and Congratulations Renee. Of of course Congrats to you to Peter and anyone else who have their birds going. Sorry Kaz you didn't get one in but I am sure next year you will I didn't either. My violet spangle came 3rd in the violet class which I was totally wrapped with as he has a very short tail and my df spangle came 7th in the Df spangle class.
  2. They are looking good NitsuD, I like these ones who are they from I am guessing the cinnamons sre fro the grey cinn boy and they grey green cinn hen
  3. 6 birds going to shield now as the green boy lost his tail feathers. I was so annoyed because he had a blue ring and a red ring on because he was born middle of October and I double ringed a lot of birds. Any I had to cut the blue ring off him to show him at the shield which I did the same for the one boys. Well I didn't really want to cut the blue rings off seems they will be so much better for the shield next year. And this green cock is getting better as he gets older any way I cut his ring off and put him back in the cage and rats he drops his tail 5 minutes after, gee I was annoyed. Anyway he is out now.
  4. I will get over one and have a look. tomorrow I have the shield in Melbourne
  5. I really don't know what it is but I would say it was dying when you found it, the poop doesn't look normal. I have had some that have had air in thier crop but they survived. sorry I can't help. Sometimes you are better letting nature takes it's course.
  6. Thanks nitsuD. How are your babies going
  7. Hey all remember this hen that had the bad the tumor kind of thing next to her eye. well are having it lanced I think 3 times, and her cere went blue on the side of the swelling. Well it's a miracle her cere is light brown and the swelling has gone, she had a massive lump there and it's now gone totally wierd. Her eye is a little messy still as she has being rubbing it because the feather get in her eye but at this stage she has made a full recovery. To think I was going to get her put down as I thought it was crueled to let her suffer like that and she is my best hen I have ever bred. Here is a picture when she was bad but IT did get much worse than this picture, the lump forced her head out side ways really bad and her eye was pushed done that you couldn't see it any more but now her eye is back and she is normal again. But you can see from this picture taken yesterday that the swelling is gone, it's really a miracle
  8. Here she is now taken on the 21st of May yesterday and she was 4 and 1/2 weeks old. I am sure now that she not a mop,. and this is her tail so far all the same length and these 2 violets are her sisters they are just 6 weeks old Not a mop.
  9. Funny GB, I have spotted heaps of my birds but this hen just frieked out and 2 years ago when we were spotting my yellowface grey she just died, it was alwful. plucked her spots and she didn't even complain and then put her in the cage but she was dead, Greg gave her mouth to beak but no she must of had a heart attack, scary. One thing you never do is lay a budgie on it's back as they can die or put them upside down. Clearwing told me this and I believe to be right. As for hen I am not sure if we had her on her back or not but that is probably why she died.
  10. Well you never go and you need to there to find out. I would go if it was Melbourne but Sydney nah miles too far away. Would spend a fortune by time the auctions start. Just getting there and somewhere to stay, food etc.
  11. Well the count down is on. 2 sleeps till the shield yeh. Actually i am not really looking forward to it. But I am mainly going to catch up with GB and a few other friends. I have 7 birds selected but nothing stunning about them I have been having trouble with pin feathers and blood feathers as they are not ready for a show and that's why I am not keen. The white DF spangle , everytime I try to clean his head he gts more blood on his head and the same for the violet spangle. Clearwing has come to my rescue and helping out because I was about the chuck the dummy. The violet hen scrawked something terriable when I tried to de spot her and I that scared she was going to die from a heartache that I screamed for help and clearwing heard all the to Mooroopna
  12. But then I heard a few weeks ago that a prominate breeder went there buy some birds and came home with none as they weren't up to scratch for the money he was charging. BUT then that doesn't mean anything as the breeding or blood is still there. $$$$$$$$$
  13. The 2 DF chicks just came out of the nest yesterday and today, the white might be okay but the yellow is very ordinary. Here is a photo of my violet green cock hatched late Nov 2009. He has the same father as this cinnamon oplaine violet baby here.
  14. I really don't think his birds will go cheap as they are in great demand, I have heard of top breeders go to SA to his place and paying $1,000 a bird and I heard a little while go that he has topped his price up to more than that per bird. But if any one goes it would be great for you to post and let us know what they go for. We then start saving for next year
  15. Here is the baby again taken on the 19th yesterday, I am thinking not mop . I really hope not anyway. She will be 5 weeks Monday the 24th
  16. Looking good Kaz, another week you should see if they are going to good, have to remember they are outcrosses, so you need to put them back to the hens line or send them over for my line .
  17. Yep shhhhhhhh about the Sheppard & Flanagan Gb, I'm hoping no one goes but you and I
  18. It came up of my partners page sent by his daughter and I was thinking disgusting, And here I was thinking why would she send him that when he has everthing he needs and wants here with me I wouldn't open it either
  19. But hey I nearly didn't bring one home last auction but yep it got the better of me had to come home with something and I really wished I didn't talk about compulisive that's me. BUT I am having trouble saving this time Merv so I really think I will be looking and not bidding but we will see I actually have my eye on a few  but it's the money that is the problem I really wish these auctions were in July as I get a bit money then, on the 30th of June and that is tooooooo late and that really annoying.
  20. I hope she is not Kaz and Shannon, honestly her head is as wide as adult bird massive. I showed Greg yesterday and said wow. Tomorrow I am going to measure her width across the head. But she is looking good. Seems I am not breeding a heap and my club friend have 40 to 50 babies and I have 14 I say to them I breed quality not quanity lol they just laugh at me but it works for me, and actually the babies I have are out of my best birds and the ones I am counting on. I am putting more birds down after the Queens Birthday weekend. and I have fertilty etc .
  21. But the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ we better start saving. Hard with just living expenise sky rocketing urrgggg. I can't seem to keep the petro in my car, I think car is a petroholic because I can't seem to keep petrol in, it seems to be guzzling it all up. Thinking of getting it checked, but I do run around alot but when you live 48 ks from Shepparton and the same from Kyabram, 27 fro Numurkah it's not hard to guzzle it all up. I really miss living in Bendigo where everything was at my finger tips. Late night shopping, well a city of shops at that, plenty of take away shops.... 1 supermarket here, hardhware store and a couple of other little shops and the usual for a small town. We only have 1 cafe/takeaway shop here now.. But yes wouldn't mind going to Ballarat. Because I would mind another 1 or 2 Howes birds for my clearbody line.
  22. Hey yes all Have my camera going again, bought my new battery, gee did I miss this camera, I love the beautiful pics it takes. Anyway my breeding season started in March with about 12 pair put down. But I had a heap of clears eggs, out os 12 nest there were only 2 nest with fertile eggs, I nest had 5 fertile eggs and all 5 hatched but the last one died on hatching. the parents are my good yellow df spangle cock and and a sister to the cobalt spangle that the yellow df spangle is normally with and are the parents to my white boys. Here is a couple of photos of the 3 babies from the spangle nest and the cinnamon opaline violet, this taken 5 days ago Well I was hoping to get something good but the 4 are very ordinary so far but who knows they could improve, there is a white df spangle a yellow df spangle both cocks and 2 green spangles. The other nest is my violet cock the one I won the young bird shield with last year and a sky blue hen that I bought in for her large frame and shoulder. She doesn't have much above the head. but wow they had 3 babies, 2 violet hens and one is really nice and a cinnamon oplaine violet hen and she is going to wow, her head is wide and she is only 4 weeks yesterday but then it dawned on me what if she is a mop and she is so stunning. Her sisters are 6 weeks Friday and there heads are not as wide as this one. I have some photos of the cinnamon oplaine violet but her sisters are still at Geoffs and the cinnamon yesterday See the directional feather growing, honestly her head is as wide as so my gut feeling thinks the worst, .MOP... but her flights are nice and neat so far and her tail and secondary tail feathers are all the same size so far...... Will take more photos tomorrow or Thursday and the ones at Geoffs next week. I now have 7 more babies, the yellow df spangle is a dad a again, I put him back with the cobalt spangle sister to the one above and parents of my white ones and the one in amy aviatar. Well they have 2 babies one egg was dead in shell, 2 eggs broke. I put rings on them in the last couple of days, they are quite big babies so I have my fingers crossed. I have a cinnamon opaline violet hen full sister to my violet cock. I have her down with a grey green cock of Geoffs, she has 4 babies and I rung 2 today. And the only other nest with babies is my yellow DF spangle hen Full sister to the white ones and I have her with a grey cock of Goeffs and they have 1 baby. I have 2 nest with a couple of fertile eggs and that's it so far. I lost a hen the other day, she layed 6 eggs and the 1st 2 were fertile and then I found her off the nest and eggs ice cold. I put the fertile eggs under aother hen and threw the other 4 away even though they were probably fertile, I really had no where to put the. I put the hen in the hospital cage but she had ruptured herself. She died. Will do more baby photos soon.
  23. Yes there is ment to be one at Ballarat June 5th, and I was told it is a good one to go too but it says in the Budgie News for enquiries and Catalogues on the BCV website but I can't find any mention of the Ballarat Auction on there at all.
