  1. I would say he is on his last legs. The problem with budgies is that they are so small and by the time to you work out they are ill it is sometimes too late.

What about the violet class, when does it going to hit the Nationals. Does any other state have violet class at there shields. We do Victoria but the violet stays home NO Nationals yet. It is only a new class for Victoria. But as a beginner and going up to the next level soon I would be very disappointed if my bird wasn't benched. Last year I was in the National team as a reserve but my bird didn't go.
  5. Is the little one growing or still small. I am having that problem here with hens plucking the chicks, don't know why and it's driving me crazy. 2 hens so far and one hen is 08 and never did it last year.

I'm not big on writing and plus very crappy at the moment but here's my little bit. I am all for it, BRING in the change.... It would be very disappointing for a bird to go just for the ride and not get shown. Like Chookbreeders 2 birds just went for the ride. Yes our shield works great with the 3 birds shown but only the first 2 birds in the club score.
  7. She is loaded with spots, but I do have the ideal cock to go with her next year, a light green and a cousin on the father and mothers side, he is a nice bird with good direction feather and he is clean in the cap but needs more impact on his spots and I think this hen will do the job. I can only see what happens
  8. Have a look at budgie FAQs there is a list of what's safe and what's not.
  9. The main things I give my birds are..... silverbeet, carrot, beetroot, broccoli, celery, corn cornels and corn on the cob, parsely and fresh lucerne.
  10. They are all soooooooooooo adorable Kaz
  11. Do you mean on her head Dean or her masks spot because has plenty of them tooooooo. I would say she will be heavily flecked, :grbud: Sorry I don't think those violet hens want to leave here as they know I need them more I am so pleased with them I have put the parents back together. the hen is an outcross so I am hoping for better next year when I put these babies back to my line.
  12. Kaz we will see what happens either I don't mind but for sure will will be a good hen if I don't get that stupid tail problem, you know that thing one minute nice tail and the next no tail; and never grows back Here is that violet cinn opaline hen, she is 6 weeks and 1 day old. and the Dk green spangle
  13. Thanks Macka, desperate for hens. :grbud: The cinnamon opaline is not a mop thank god but she will be flecked which is a pity but still she will be a great stock hen and that's what I want at the moment. Thank you Taboo and yes GB over the moon mainly because they are hens, so far to date I only have 18 babies and more cocks than hens rats, I just had another hen pluck the **** out of her babies and I had nowhere to put them so they are out at Inos place he had a nest with roughly the same age with only 2 babies so i took 3 out to him and they are doing fine. 2 of them are out of my best nest (full siblings to my white Df spangle boys), stupid me took them off their mother as she was on her own and the the pair I put them with only had one so I thought that would be a good thing but NOOOOOOO she decided to pluck down until she hit blood. The babies are only 3 weeks and she was chucking them out of the nest.

Thanks Daryl , the photos are great. Glad you had a great time
  15. They will be all grey wing but as for pied I have no idea. all I know is for some reason dilute is dom to greywing and clearwing. So meaning if you put a dilute with a greywing or clearwing you will get all greywing or all clearwing.
  16. The oldest 2 are looking great Kaz. Very nice.

Where did you see a picture of the black eye RIP, or are you there. Wow..... Wood/Drew won the yellow face, they are selling out of their birds auction is the 20th June I think, I heard some people say at the shield thta if that yellow face wins the Nationals is may fetch $5,000. Wow I am going to have to go just to see what their birds go for now. Congrats Liv 12th is good for your first Nationals, I haven't even got there yet. well done.
  21. splat replied to Daryl's topic in Budgerigar Shows
Yooo Yooooo go Victoria we have won 2 classes so far, black eye self 1st and 2nd Sheppard/Flanagan and grey wing Ian Hunter. Good luck liv with your yellow face for you but Victoria has a really nice yellow face that will probably be going to Auction at the end of the month.
  22. Is that directional feather I see coming there Kaz. How broad are their heads. They look good more pics when feathered please. okay say that again splat aboutthe out cross thinggy please i never really did understand where to go from pairring to chick out come to ?????? then It's like a Christmas tree. You have a bird that is outstanding. And you put this bird to everything in your aviary, then you put them young to the other spring like cousin to cousin, etc but then it comes a stage you need to outcross and that's when the christmas tree comes into action. The idea is you go out with an outcross and then the next season you use the young you bred and go back into the line. And youcontinue like this to breed a stud .
  23. Thanks Lealotto and it was nice to meet you too. GB I got over my long walk :ohmygod: I am glad you had a good day. I am still crook now.
